IIRC the stock wall charger is rated at 1.8Ah. But, what is the phone's actual draw? Does it ever get up there near 1.8mAh?
I'm just trying to figure out if a car charger with "only 1000mA" will be sufficient. I'm guessing that the OEM wall charger is rated well above whatever the phone might ask for, but as to how much, I don't know.
I'm actually looking at these two right now as they both seem to give a pretty high output for both Android and Apple devices.

My experience with other phones is that the phone draws exactly what the stock charger gives it. I'd imagine it's the same with this one. 3140mah is a lot of battery to charge.

I'd agree. I charged it the first couple days using the OGP wall charger and USB cable from my Nexus 4. It took all night. Switched the cable with the one in the box, and it charges in like an hour!
I have a 2.1a car charger, and the OGPro charges in exactly the same amount of time as the stock wall charger.
Oddly, it charges slower from my 2a Note II charger.

Im looking at all of the chargers from Anker on Amazon. It seems they have the best positive reviews of anything I've seen. Although the 3.6 watt (white unit with either 2 usb ports or one port and a micro usb cable) unit is newer than the 3.1 (black heavy duty), the black unit can give the full 3.1 watts to either port or split it amongst the two ports. And according to Anker, either port will work for Apple or android. They suggested i get the newer (white) unit, but i want to have the full 3.1 watts available to a single port for future h higher powered devices.
I'll have to check those out. I've been looking at this one, which has good reviews on it.

My concern with that one is that it gives a total of 2.1A. So if you charge your OGP using one usb port, there's only 0.3A left for the other port. The disclaimer at the end of the description says that if you are charging an iPad to not use the second port. I'm guessing that warning would also apply too us with the high draw OGP. It also states that the blue light gets even brighter in the dark. You might need to cover the led if it's too bright,but that's a personal taste thing,and it might not actually be that intrusive. Lastly, do you have enough room in your vehicle to rest both your phone, and the head of the charging device? I have a dual outlet 12v supplier in my car, but i bought one that has no cord. The two outlets are rigidly mounted right at the end of the cigarette lighter plug.
I bought a Griffin Powerjolt single USB at Walmart. It only charges at full speed using the OGPro's stock cable. Any other cable is slower, and the cable from my old S2 gives me a "Slow Charging" notification.
Anyway, this charger is just a stop-gap. I'm going to be hard wiring two USB plugs into my truck's 12v system (with some 5v regulators and an Add-a-Circuit).
I was looking at the 3.6A charger, here's the link on amazon.
As I expected, one port is for Apple and one for Android. This is very irritating because I need to charge my OGP while my fiance charges her OG at the same time on trips.
Can our OGP charge at full speed on the Apple port?
Edit: I just read that the kernal in Android 4.2 fixes this issue so we can charge in any USB charger, including apple chargers. I'm guessing LG devices still on 4.1 won't benefit from this update.
Shouldn't going to Settings > PC Connection > USB Connection Type and then setting it to "Charge only" force the device to see any cable as a charge only cable thus making it charge faster?

As per Anker, the Apple port will charge Android at full speed. I have not verified this myself as I have not gotten mine yet, but that's what I'm told, and expect. I'm waiting for their wall charger to come back in stock as the shipping will be free if l order both.
I ordered the black 3.6v version. I'll get it Monday or Tuesday since I have Prime.
Are there any apps that detect how much juice the battery is getting?

I just made the charge cable linked in the post above. It works like a charm
I also purchased This wall charger which works perfectly fine with our phone on both the "A" and "NA" port.
I'm willing to bet this car charger made by the same company as the one linked above will work also.
Anyone find one that works well? I got a Cellet retractable micro use charger last week, and it charges my Motorola Electrify M just fine as well as my Gen 1 N7. No dice on the N7 FHD.

It has dual USB ports. One is marked Android the other Apple. The apple port if specifically designed for apple devices (iPhone 5, iPad).
Individually each port can do about 2 amps, or 3.6 amps total if both are being used. The Apple port will charger other devices slowly with standard Data sync cables or full speed with a charging only cable (no data).
Basically with a Charging only cable you could charge two device, one at about 2.1 amps max and the other at about 1.5 amps max (3.6 total amps).
I have two dedicated charging only cables coming that I plan to keep with this car charger so I can charge my phone and tablets on to go.
I tried my Nexus 2013 in my dual Sprint car charger that I got from amazon (Technocel MV9MCDUO-SP OEM Sprint Car Charger - Black with USB Port) and I'm getting a really good charge for my Nexus.
I even tested my phone charging in it's USB port while the Nexus was charging on the main cord and both seemed to cahrge jsut fine.
If I just charge my Motorola Photon on the main cord it charges faster than any AC adapter or car charger I've ever used.
I highly recommend it.

I suppose that would work, a 2 amp or 1 amp car charger should power most QI chargers.
Not sure I see the point though, I see two issues:
1. Wireless charging is less efficient and slower (better suited for the desk or night stand).
2. There's a good change the device will move around while driving and not charge if the coils are not aligned properly.
You could try a modify a car mount to hold a wireless charger, but you still would have the slower charging issue, withc may not really be an issue for some.
I have however seen a car mount that holds the phone and has a opening to hold a round QI charger, but wouldn't work for the N7. See here:

What I'm thinking is, taking the back of a slide-in type cover and hardwiring the wireless charger behind it. A slide in type cover should minimize any movement/alignment issues.
Then affixing the entire assembly over my existing NAV screen in the dash with the wireless charger hardwired to the car.
Then, I can slide in/slide out the Nexus as desired, and not have to worry about fiddling around with the Micro USB connector.
I'm not concerned about charging efficiency, more about maintaining power. A 2A charger at 60% efficiency should provide me the 1.35A that the Nexus 7 needs. When needed I can remove it and fully charge it.

Did your qi charger not come with a mains power adapter.
I can't say for the nexus 7 but the nexus 5 comes with a 5v 1200ma charger so it won't be able to supply the current that your qi pad needs.
Have a look on your nexus 7 power brick. It will tell you what it outputs.

what brand? you can try plugging it in your laptop. mine (Nillkin) says Input: 5V/2A but it still works just fine if i plug it in the laptop.
otherwise I use the Nexus 5 charger. I think it's just the maximum your charger can handle.
You can use any USB power source... What varies is charge rate. I picked up a 2amp supply from amazon. You have to figure in less than 70% efficiency... Especially taking into account non laboratory ideal conditions and manufacturing...
1 amp input will be like slow charging from a computer at best. 2 amp will be on par with regular wall charging if not better. You always want an adapter that is above what the charger can handle to make full use of the charger... Lower ones will still let it work to lesser and lesser degrees till it doesn't charge the device depending on supply and device needs

It can be used with either the Nexus 5 or Nexus 7 AC Adapters. The Nexus 5 is 1.2A and the Nexus 7 (2013) is 1.35A I believe. Neither will fully power the Qi charger, but it will still be enough to make it work. The charging time for your phone will just be longer since the Qi charger is not being provided full power, so the current the Qi charger can provide to the phone will also be lower. If you want your Qi charger to operate at full efficiency/power, try to use an AC adapter that is 1.5A or higher.
Since your Qi charger only requires 1.5A, the Nexus 7 AC adapter is the closest, so I would recommend using that one.
In the future though, you might want to consider buying a higher output AC adapter:
The Blackberry Folding Blade Charger is 1.8A output, and microUSB, so you can plug it directly into your Qi charger (or phone if you ever need to charge you phone at rocket speed!):

Tablet showed at -432ma, sat it on the qi pad and it changed to -124ma!!
Why a negative figure ? I assume I'm using more power than its charging.
Would a 5v 2a charger male much difference ?

Try using currentwidget (free) to read just the current being provided during charge.
Set it to update at 1 second intervals.
Even with the screen on, if you are not using navigation, streaming stuff, gaming, etc. it should charge even if it is not getting the full 1.5A current provided to it. It would just charge slower not discharge.

As I learned from another thread, the cable makes a significant difference. After using a 2a charger, current widget, and checking the charge of all my cables: 2 provided about 1.4a, a few 1.1a,and a large number of cables cut power down to 600 down to 300.
You need a capable 2a charger, a quality cable that you have actually tested, and a qi charger that accepts 2a and doesn't lose a majority when converting to induction.

Is there likely to be any compatibility issue with my N 5? I'd like something like this to provide an additional output for my Moto 360 for charging and the price seems right. (On sale today, at lest for us in the US.) If it matters I wold be using it with a Qi wireless charger.
As an aside and I'm going to have to search... My N 5 doesn't always charge using a Qi charger. Does that depend on the output of the charger and will Qi chargers take advantage of the extra output? Do the need the extra output? I just put my N 5 on a Qi charger driven by the wall wort for my HP Touchpad (rated for 2.1A output.) The phone is at 95% and is not charging at all. The light on the Qi charger remains red instead of turning green. I'm wondering if that is because the high level of charge or is this one of the times it is not going to charge. :
Edit: Doh! It won't charge if the charging pad is upside down. While rebooting my phone I noticed that. With the phone off, it was drawing 760 mA form the charger (measured using one of those USB volt-amp meters.) After the phone booted up, it is back to not charging.
If it truly is a "smart" charger it should work. I haven't heard of that brand so I can't really vouch for it. Due to the design of the charger though keep in mind that it will cover both outlets on your wall. My favorite 4-port charger is the Anker model:

Four ports but horizontal so it does not take up both outlets. I also know from experience that it works great with the Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Kindle Fire HDX, iPhone 4s... everything I've thrown at it. And it charges the Nexus 5 faster than on the stock charger.

Now i changed to the lg g6, but it refused to do the 'fast charging ' when i use that chargers qc3.0 port and even says 'slow charging' when connecting to the usb c output.
Is it the combination that's just flakey or did they put something specific in the original charger that comes with the lg g6?
I'm bit lost on the topic of chargers currently, anyone care to enlighten me on what should could would work?

Works fine with my wife's charger from her Galaxy Note 4 as well. ? (Pretty sure that's a QC 2.0 charger as well.)

Shouldn't really get hot once it's fully charged?
The charger that comes with it is a quick charge 3.0 charger and can completely charge your phone from zero in less than 2 hours easily. You have to use the cord that came with it though, or at least one that is compatible. If you look at the icons, you will see a different one than the usual charging icon. Pulling down the menu shows something about fast-charging when its active.
My experience comes from the Sprint version.

i use one from Tylt each night since im always on-call. havent had a problem once.
None of my QC 3.0 charger fast chagrge my G6. The QC 2.0 chargers do.
I've bought a Choetech wall usb charger, QuickCharge 3.0 with its usb type-c cable, and when I plug it on LG G6, it says that there's fast charging.

I do not believe the LG stock charger is qc qc 3.0 compatible because its fixed mat output at 9v is 1.8a
qc 3.0 defines the max amps at each voltage level from 5v to 9v to 12v
I ended up buying anker qc 3.0 chargers for my car and for ac wall outlet. also bought their nice braided usb c cable. every combination yields a fast charger notification in the drop down and the ampere app confirms this. also watching the real time output is impressive from all these chargers.
the benefit to using a certified qc 3.0 charger is that the phone will tell it exactly what amps to deliver based on charge & temp.
further, the G6 has a heat pipe to help cool the entire phone including the battery, to help prevent a galaxy note scenario.
wireless charging is slow Qi spec and is NOT fast like samsung. however, slow charging over wireless is great for overnight.
I use anker's qi charging puck and it works great except I have to remove my case. same with the samsung fast charger puck. my wife doesn't have to remove the case on her S7 to do regular or fast charging. LG's design is obviously inferior for the Qi to pickup and activate the coil.

Those who bought QC 3.0 charger and those who trying different cables with LG G6 charger, Try Cable from Oneplus 3, I get an improved charging of 10-20 minutes less compared to stock LG cable
The issue might be the cable you're using. I've had no trouble fast charging using an old ASUS QC 2.0 charger, or a cheap car QC 3.0 charger. Even when using microUSB cables with USB-C adapter tips, but I'm using decent cables (mostly Monoprice and Anker).
I've confirmed that the charger that came with my G6 is QC3.0 (model MCS-H06UR, UK 3-pin). Using a USB power meter, the voltage will increase from 5V to 9V in small steps. If I use a QC 2.0 charger (stock charger from Note4/S7edge), it will jump from 5V to 9V immediately.

How much time does it take to charge fully? Did you record time ?
