The lag is not because of the bootanimation. Try a different rom. It works way better with ics than with Kitkat

Well thanks for the bootanimation, I am running stock odexed kitkat rom my T2 ultra 700x1280 (xhdpi) and the animation is just too small to look awesome, it works perfectly fine though, all smooth transitions n stuff. Could you plz make it a little bit bigger, so that it is neither too pixelated, nor too small (cos this one is very small). Thanks in advance

Boot Animation Tester[V 1.02][Will be Theme tester soon]

The other day I read that awesome Tut on how to create a Boot Animation by kusotare [link] because of this I started creating a few animations. While doing this I would test them out by flashing them, I did not like this so I created an applet that will basically animate them for you... Its pretty simple code, I am sure anyone on here could do it(and im sure some one has) but I figured I would share it with anyone who wanted it.
All you have to do is extract the .zip into a folder, and when you want to test your animations drop 'android-logo-mask.png' and 'android-logo-shine.png' into the folder. After you put them into the folder, open(double click) 'BootAnimationTest.htm'. This will open up your browser and show you the animation.
Requirements:
-This requires that you have the JRE installed
-'android-logo-mask.png' should be 256x480(Other sizes will work, but the app will resize them)
-'android-logo-shine.png' should be 512x480(Other sizes will work, but the app will resize them)
If you want, until I make it fix it automatically you can
find dimensions of android-logo-mask.png n put those values in BootAnimationTest.htm
Click to collapse
Future:
-In the future I plan to make it were it doesnt matter what size your images are.
-Turn this into a full fledged theme tester!
Feature Request: If you have an idea that you want me to add to this let me know, and most likely I will do so.
Just added a Video!
Change Log:
V 1.02:
-Added buttons that increase/decrease the speed of the shine

Nice dude...just dimensions get messed....cuz it treats ur boot imgs like theyre full...but its k i just edit the html to my custom dimensions
Just put in ur post to find dimensions of android-logo-mask.png n put those values in BootAnimationTest.htm
Oh n whts with all those red dots underneath the img ?

Awesome, I will have it where it does it automatically though, among other things... I also think I may turn it into a Jar and have it launch in its own window.
Edit - those red dots, are actualy my name... what happened is that you resized it, so it shrunk the applet.

Yea, thats why I made it, I got tired of having to flash over and over to test mine.
Thanks for the kudos on my tutorial. I had a tough time doing it my first time around, and after six or seven hundred of my friends with G1s asked me how i did it, I finally broke down and did the tutorial.
On the other hand, I absolutely love what you've done with the applet. That will certainly make it easier for people to come up with something they'll really like instead of having to tweak-and-flash as most of us have been doing for ages. Excellent work!

Thanks! it really only took me 3 minutes to right but I think it will help me for as long as I make boot animations
hey, the tutorial didnt take me much longer, so dont feel too bad. the longest damn part of it was writing the script for the video down so i could read it back into the mic!
by the way, i added a link to the first post here into the tutorial post. you really did hit a keystone here thats gonna help people. cheers!
How do you guys feel about the speed of the shine? I think I will add a button that will let you make it faster or slower
Helpful, fast and time saving tool...
This is really a great and helpful tool. Its a must have on the utility belt of all theme-er's.
Excellent work...
This is an awesome tool, it'll help me cut down on wearing out my NAND flashing theme updates over and over just to test the boot screen. Thanks a lot!
Edit: Just tried it out on one of my old non used boot animations I had, the 'animation' scroll should be faster in my opinion. I remember seeing it speeding by at least 2x the speed as the applet does it. BUT the buttons to increase/decrese speed would be ideal. Some people may prefer it slower, some fast.
Again great job on this, you saved a lot of trouble!

Edit - So I was thinking, why not take this a step farther? What do you guys think about me making it where it will also show you what your theme will look like?

Is that possible? IF you're able to do that, you'll hear a lot of "I LOVE YOU"s from theme makers, especially me.
I understand it would be a 'rough draft' sort of thing considering the .9.png and such but really just to see everything 'together' before flashing it would be a welcome change than what we can do now.

Yea, I don't think it would be hard at all... It will just take me a while.
Edit - Ok, so I just posted the new build. This build just added the speed buttons. By the end of the week I hope to have a build that is a full theme tester up. I also think that later on down the road I will make this into a JFrame instead of an applet. Also, what is the deal with the .9.png?
Ok I have been messing with themes, and its coming together good. Its going to take me a while because I have school though.

.9.png are images that Android resizes to work in any situation. like the buttons. sometimes they are small sometimes they take up the whole screen. you have to sign them in eclipse for them to work right. check out this thread for a more detailed description of them and what it takes to get them working properly.
if you do make a theme tester I will have kids just so i can name them Burlyskink.
For theme and boot testing...did anybody see the news story about running an emulated Android os (complete with G1 skin) on a Windows PC?
It looks just like a brand new fresh stock G1 and it works. I wonder if that could test out themese and mods?

[02-12-11] Boot Animation (Old PC meets ICS boot w sound / flashable / screenshots)

Hi everyone, I got some inspiration earlier today when I was thinking about oldskool Windows OS boot up sequence and decided to make a bootanimation zip for myself.
So what I did is I found a BIOS boot animation created by animelover (massive thanks to him) and merged it with a stock ICS boot screen. Reminded me of my old Windows 98 boot process where you get the initial BIOS start after which is goes to Windows splash screen. Except here it goes to ICS boot screen.
Looks amazing I think and still has that old hard disk starting sound at the beginning as well. Ahh, the nostalgia...
I might still make some minor changes later, but for now I can't stop restarting my phone. Love it too much, so I decided to share it with you guys.
The file is attached below. If you want to use it in your ROM or theme that's fine, just let me know first. The one thing I ask is that you give credits to me for splicing these two together and of course animelover for creating the original SGS2 BIOS bootanimation.
Thanks and enjoy!

-----
Installation:
1. I recommend wiping cache and dalvik cache but it isn't necessary.
2. Download the ZIP from the attachments section below and flash it via CWM Recovery.
Screenshots:
Included in the attachments below.

Notice:
I did this for fun and I'm not expecting anything in return. If you feel you like the animation, clicking thanks below is always appreciated.

Hehe, I've just tried it. A combination of my 2 favorite bootanimations, really nice!
now every ROM should just have this integrated!
Cool mate
Thanks guys! I'm glad you like it. Anyone can include it in their rom or theme.
I might raise the fps a bit though, what do you guys think?

Hmm... well I tried to explain to the best of my abilities what it's like in 1st post. You can always backup your existing system/media/bootanimation.zip by renaming it to bootanimation.zip.bak. You can do this with root explorer or super manager.
Then flash this one to try it, if you don't like it then just go back to your old bootanimation.zip.
I will try to update the first post with some screenshots later tonight anyways.

Maybe it's just the animation looping.....

it will be nice to make it for both odex and deodexed Roms of ics specially XXLPQ
nobody can do this ?
Hey, I am doing it. Just need to test it and then I ll upload.
Try this, it is a MetaMorph-Theme, google metamorph if you don t know how to use them.

No, not for something this small. I will use MetaMorph, because it is ROM independent. So one zip for every Android 4.0 ROM.
make it thikker about 10% in progress small and medium . progress large is good by itself
and decrease the speed about 40% but with same soothness as its nowand let me test it .
thanks for your beautifull work
I installed it using metamorph on deodexed rom and have bootloop?

[MOD][ICS/JB][XPOSED] DitheredHoloBackground: no more color banding

Inspired by this, I've decided to write a simple Xposed plugin that replaces the default Holo Dark background with a dithered one. It means no more annoying color banding.
You need Xposed version 2.1 and up.
Source code: https://github.com/Oranav/DitheredHoloBackground
Thanks rovo89 for all of his great work on Xposed!
Brilliant,Thanx m8
Thanks a lot.
It works like a charm on GS2 also.
Would it be possible to add an option for a totally black baground too? It would be awesome.
Thanks again.
Great job, working also (as already reported) on SGSII and I see you uploaded it in official repository too +1 man!
Try this one instead. It looks smoother.
I also noticed it's not so smooth, but I pushed moded apk with SIII Mini dithered back as it's smooth enough for me.
good work!!great app!Thanks 4 Your work mate
Bye bye banding :good:! Color banding was a real noticeable feature of my low end tablet (7" Dragon Touch 4.0.4 modded) and this mod has literally and figuratively cleared things up. Nice work, many thanks and much respect :highfive::laugh:!

+1 - cannot install the repacked .apk either but would like to see the smoother .png.
This won't work on 4.3 ROMs anymore, since it's not an image.
Just installed this on a lollipop ROM. Does it work for lollipop?
