[ROOT][JB 4.2] MTK6572W, Cubot C11, Firefly S120

Successfully applied FramaRoot v1.6.0 with Boromir exploit on Firefly S120. FYI.

Trying to source original Factory ROMs before flashing CWM; MTK 6xxx phones apparently get 'bricked' when preloader is flashed (to create a nandroid backup). Cubot C11 (not available at this writing) seems to be an exact clone. Found another device that matches its specs.

Update - Successfully made ROM Backup with MtkDroidTools v2.4.8
Until Kitkat is fully tested and rolled-out, I suppose there is no compelling reason (for now) to take unnecessary risks.
No longer looking for stock ROMs. With custom ROM Backup, risk of creating a 'brick' is now minimized. FYI

Cubot GT72 has a similar chipset (MT6572) ... Framaroot should work with Boromir exploit.
With Framaroot, there is almost no chance of bricking your phone; worst case is it won't work.

Although temporary (like the Galaxy Y versions), MtkDroidTools was able to "install" and run CWM 5.x; it is inverted but not a problem.
Can now backup and restore stock ROM and/or current setup.
Happy Camper ... will now be bolder and try other ROMs ... as well as flash a permanent CWM

can someone upload the img file. i accidentally factory reset it using stock recovery..stuck in bootanimation. by the way bootanimation was changed and it turned upside down.

VibeUI 1.5 ROM for Q1010i

Hi Guys.
I have finally reached 10 posts and am able to post my S930 Vibe UI rom to XDA. It took me a lot of tries and a lot of wipes and resets to get it sorted out. Like always!, google helped and so did XDA forum mates (indirectly , but yes). :victory:

Screen shots for this is something i do not intend to upload right now. You can check the Vibeui for S930 or any vibe ui of the 1.5 version to know them.
I am also including the Carliv recovery i ported using the CTR-V2 tool. (astonishingly simple to use)
Flash as below:
1)S930-allfixed-rom for q1010i.zip
2) s930 sound patch.zip
3) GApps_Minimal_4.4.2_signed.zip
1) Boot to the rom. Go to settings>storage and switch to external.
2) Ensure you also check if the access point is set correctly for you. It was to portalnmms for me on vodafone. I changed mine to www.
3) Install the APKS
4) Test and provide feedback.
As of date , i have used it for over 3 days and am very very very happy. If someone has issues , i can try and help. But please try to search for answers first. Respect XDA folks and the forum by ensuring you respect your own intelligence (this can be proved by your search abilities.)
FLASH the rom via Carliv touch recovery. (made available in the same folder)
No, i will try to see if i can put it on 4shared. But till then use this. You can use firefox with the 'downthemall' extension and download this with resume functionality. (Grr.. for the people who never research)

Best thing is it is kit kat based. Everything working fine. Superuser / Root was not there, I flashed SuperSU zip in CWM and got Root. Battery drain is the only major problem I hope soon you will solve it. Pre rooted ROM is great. Try to do that also.
Lenovo Weather app could not load Indian Cities. (Actually I don't like to Read weather in Chinese )

Its Usually Due To CTR Recovry But Dont Worry.....!
Just Go To Recovry Mode And Perform Factory data wipe
and reboot and enjoy
if u use ctr recovry and it asks to fix root permissions then click no

Root Sky Devices 5.0L "Elite" (with Android Lollipop 5.1)

I have just bought a Sky Devices "Elite" 5.0L (with Android Lollipop 5.1 stock firmware). I need to root it, in order to appropriately use Link2SD and remove a few pieces of software that came preinstalled. I have tried KingoRoot v4.9.5 (and some others) with no success: phone can't be root, yet.
Has anyone had success in rooting this model?

Dont Root
DONT ROOT with KingRoot on Sky Devices or One Click they will soft brick and the device will only boot to the logo screen and freeze.
Update: KingRoot V4.9.6 android and V3.2.0 win, should work as they have address the issues with older versions.

I have a new SKY DEVICES Elite 5.0l phone with original stock ROM, I am trying to extract the ROM so that I can unbrick another Sky Elite 5.0L
same model same firmware version but I cannot get MTKDroid tool to detect the phone, I have tried everything under sun but to no avail
I just cannot get it to detect the phone
I also root the phone using Kingo Root PC which went smoothly, I even tried Rom Manager but that app don't support SKY Elite 5.0l at the moment.
I need to get this to work before Monday as I will have to give back the working phone to it owner.Please is there anyone who can help

so since no one was will or have any information on this situation that I am in
I continue to nosily around with the phone, and I manage to get MKT Droid tool to detect it
and it is showing the Phone info,
then I hit a roadblock again, I cannot create a scatter file as the option is grayed out
Mtk_Droid_Tool_v2.5.3/v2.4
AS I WRITE THIS, I WAS INFORM THAT THERE IS NO version of MTK Droid tool for the MT67xx chipsets.... time for bed

Could you successfully root a Sky 5.0L "Elite" (with Android Lollipop 5.1) phone? With exactly which software / version? Just to be sure, bear in mind that KingoRoot is not the same as KingRoot.

Use KingoRoot PC make sure SuperSu is install first..

I never got to fix the phone, I end up buying a new phone, and toss the door jam in a box in the corner, maybe after some couple of months I will try to revived it when there is some support for it. good luck with yours

I used KingRoot to root my platinum 5.0, with lollipop. I have BusyBox. I had no problems, and did it untethered. I had no problems with bricking.

Hi, did anyone succeed in extracting the ROM from the Sky Elite 5.0L?
I tried to root one using the latest version of KingoRoot but only succeeded in soft bricking it! Now it boots to the Sky Devices screen and hang there. I can boot into Recovery but need the proper ROM to revive the phone.
Can anyone help ???

Hard Luck there, I have one with the same problem and I toss it in a box I dont even bother with it again as no one seem interested in dealing with this model..

Hi, I I still don't understand if it's safe to try and root the sky 5.0L (android 5.1 v1.5) or not, can anyone help ?

So today after a long while I was able to get the phone to boot up to the logo screen, now to get it to boot to the home screen.
UPDATE: SUCCESS SUCCESS! OK I got the Sky Elite to boot to home screen ......
