[Q] Does TWRP Manager work for anybody? - Verizon HTC One (M7)

Does everybody here use a computer with the fastboot flash command to update your recovery every time? I had been doing this for a while but with my most recent update I tried to do it without plugging in. So I installed the goomanager apk- that didn't work, it just gave me an error about cannot find html every time I would launch it. Then I tried TWRP manager from the play store. After it makes you install busybox, I selected "m7vzw" as my device type and it says unrecognized, even though it is in their own device selection. Then I tried downloading the img file from these forums and selecting it to install manually, it just crashes when I try to install it. So basically I am out of ideas. Is this what happens for everybody else or has anybody found a way to install without fastboot? I thought about selecting just regular "m7" as my device type in TWRP manager but I was afraid that if it thought I was using the GSM version and there is some kind of difference in the recovery image, that it could cause me trouble or even brick me.

***need help please***

two days ago, i rooted my phone using simple root, nand unclocked and flashed clockwordmod and everything. i was using fresh rom, and i wanted to use the vanilla lockscreen. but in order to do that, i needed to flash amons ra. i tried doing that, and somehow i got rid of my clockword recovery mod (and amons ra didnt work) so whenever i went into recovery mode, it just stayed at the screen with the phone and triange and red exclamation mark. i tried running the recovery windows .bat file, but it didnt work. and i tried running the ruu .exe file to unroot my phone, but everytime it said it couldnt find my device, even though it was connected via a usb chord. i tried it in charge only mode, disk drive mode, and htc sync mode and none of them worked. i tried using rom manager, but everytime i tried doing something it said error attempting to run privilidged scrips or something. i tried downloading the superuser .apk file and installing it onto my phone, but that didnt work either. the terminal emulator didnt work when i tried to flash something, it just said it couldnt find the file on my sd card, even though i put it on there. help?
Okay, number one: Did you try holding volume UP + power at the red exclamation screen? I think that's how you enter AR recovery.
Number two: You can flash Fresh tweaks without using AR. You just have to reboot into ClockworkMod and flash the .zip files manually.
Are you able to boot ANY ROM right now? If so, is it rooted? If it is, try to reinstall ROM Manager.
Sounds like you went a little off the deep end when you couldn't get into AR.
any suggestions?
Yeah, answer my questions or provide more info so you can get better direction.
you can reflash either recovery with the simple root program or you can follow the first part of toasts root method part 2 to restore recovery.

ill try your first suggestion. and i cant boot any rom right now, because rom manager isnt working. and im pretty sure my phone is rooted, because i still have dev tools and CIQ settings and all those rooted apps.
update: your first suggestion worked, except once i entered AR recovery, the only options i had were: reboot system now, apply sdcard:update.zip, wipe data/factory reset, and wipe cache partition. at the bottom, it said "E: can't open /cache/recovery/command,

i tried reflashing with simple root but it didnt work. can you give me a link for toasts method?
i had a similar problem, i used the OTA simple root, get that and plug ur phone back in with debugging on , one of the drop down menus will let you flash a recovery so flash clockworkmod
okay so somehow i managed to unroot it by wiping my data/cache..but now whenever i try using simpleroot or OTA simpleroot it doesnt work, because it says device is not found. i have it plugged in via usb, usb debugging is on, and ive tried it in charge mode and disk drive mode. anyone know what the problem is?
I'm sure there is a way to fix this, but I would suggest using the full root method by toastcfh.
okay i'll just reroot using that method, thanks. also, whenever im on my computer and im using command prompt, none of the adb commands ever work. do i need to download something for it to work?
Yes, you need the ADB framework. Read the guide (or the one by TheBiles, which is basically a rewrite). The ADB framework is a part of the Android SDK. You have to run ADB commands from the ADB directory (which is actually the "tools" folder inside of the SDK directory, wherever you extract that). Just cd to the tools folder, then run your commands from there.

[Q] Bricked without USB debugging

So, basically, I've done a stupid thing, I attempted to install Cyanogen, forgetting to enable USB debugging, and it didn't go too well, all I can do now is use Clockwork Recovery as there is no ROM on the phone, I'm not sure if there's anyway I can enable USB debugging and flash it via USB, with Odin, but whenever I try to flash via .zip through Clockworkmod Recovery I either get the status 7 error, or if I take steps to get rid of that the installation just aborts, any ideas on what I can do?
There is also a possiblity I installed Clockwork Recovery for the 3G edition, whereas I have the LTE edition of the phone, I'm not sure if that'll have contributed to the downfall of my smartphone adventures
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

hi,
first of all, dont worry for that. its not really a brick.
reboot your device to download mode (press vol-down, home and power buttons)
install philz_touch_5.18.2-i9195.tar.md5 - 7.08 MB via odin and restart to your phone to philz recovery. (press vol-up, home and power button, if you see samsung logo release power button)
then install cm rom and reboot. if you dont have any rom file in your storage, then copy rom zip file to your external sdcard via your pc and put external card again to your phone and reboot recovery and try install your rom from external card. this recovery is for lte variant of s4 mini.
i hope you get your phone working again and tell me if it works
I can't use Odin to detect my phone, it just doesn't show up :c
There is another solution.
first - get philz recovery zip file for lte variant and extract it. (get it here http://d-h.st/qdn) open updater-script and remove this code and save file.(that installer will not stop because your device is show him you have 3g variant but you have lte one so simply remove this code and save file to your zip)
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "serranolte"
|| getprop("ro.build.product") == "serranolte");
make zip file and copy it to your sdk folder and install it via adb sideload. (google it when you dont know how to install with sideload)
after this you should have right recovery.
then install your rom with sideload and reboot.
Yeah, that did fix it, I now however have the issue of my Wifi won't turn on and I cannot install things as it states that there isn't enough storage space available, which there is, there is also 4.62 Gb used in my Misc files and nothing is listed as even close to that size, so my phone isn't particularly better off ¬.¬ But thanks for your help
Got all of the problems sorted now, for the storage space thing, I had to remove my external SD card and just go on a formatting blitz after reinstalling Clockworkmod and the wifi required a modded kernel to be installed
Hi can someone help me, I have the same issue as Tobiscuits. The link no longer worked but I managed to get the file needed for recovery Odin doesn't see my phone so I can't recover to stock that way I'm guessing USB debugging is off I'm stuck on the Odin mode screen everytime my phone starts. I'm new to this what do I do with the recovery zip I have, it's on my pc atm

Have you installed latest Samsung drivers? Or try reinstall/update them, from Samsung website?
(in the past some people had to uninstall the Samsung sync software & it's drivers first if it had already been installed on PC, ie smartswitch/kies)
You must reboot PC between each operation above & check Samsung drivers uninstalled in program list (assuming Windows). Reboot after install as well.
Update to TWRP after fixed.

Hi thanks for replying, yes I installed Samsung usb drivers still doesn't recognise my device, I do have the same phone again and that works but that phone doesn't recognise on Odin or pc either maybe it's a cable issue or USB driver issue like you said. I'm pretty new to all this but TWRP is the recovery zip right? When I try factory reset it goes through the motions then nothing happens goes back to Odin mode automatically.i should mention I uninstalled magisk before my phone decided to not boot back up I'm guessing I uninstalled it wrong. I'll try uninstalling the Samsung drivers and reinstalling.

Major ouya problem

Installed fail-safe before installing cyanogen. Cyanogen 11 keeps failing guessing its a bad download. But since installing fail-safe i cant just boot the ouya up or it just fails to boot. I have to fastboot boot boot.img to get it to work...... however my computer is telling me the ouya is full so it wont let my push a fresh zip to it. Also i cant install anything on the ouya for some reason it just never downloads. Under setting under storage the only thing showing is the apps. sections no system, no downloads, no nothing, just apps. Is there a way to just install an entire OS to it just strictly with fastboot being i cant push a zip to it or anything for CWM?

You can reinstall cyanogen via cwm using a USB stick ,keyboard and a USB hub. It will not install on the failsafe menu.m you have to use cwm.

[Q] Nexus 7 (2013) Stuck between TWRP 2.6.0.0 and Google logo

Hello everyone,
I hope there is somebody out there who can help my Nexus7 -2013 to operate again.
My nightmare started after upgrading Android os to 5.0.2. The tablet started to shutdown from time to time, so i searched for downgrading to an older version but could not find such option on the menu.
Therefore, i followed a youtube video -not knowing what i was doing- and setup TWRP 2.6..0.0 on my tablet. When i opened it again, OS was working but google play and keyboard were not working.
So, i tried to backup, no success. Then i tried all options on TWRP menu (wipe, factory reset etc.) and it got worse.
Currently, when i open the tablet, it takes me to Google logo with a lock, no desktop or OS works. (see picture 1). If i wait long, it takes me to TWRP menu. see pic2)
For the last one week, i tried everything; adb sideload, install, mount etc, nothing solves the problem.
There is no place to run flash commands etc. I connected to computer but only adb sideload works and it does not help me use any other commands.
I had a flash disk with 5.0.2 and 5.0.1 factory images, but it did not setup those two files (and does not see them on flashdisk anymore i do not know why)
I also downloaded twrp 2.6.0.0 and 2.8.5.0 MD5 img's and tried to use but no success, changed file extensions to zip also not worked etc. (see pic3)
Anyway, finally i downloaded alternate rom (CleanROM-5.1.0) and UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.
I am trying to setup any of these, just to operate the device.
I install SuperSU (zip1) and CleanRom(zip2) together from install menu and setup was complete (see pic4). CleanRom was setup successfully.
However, when i reboot from TWRP after install it says "root permission appear to be lost..." (see pic4). Whatwer i do, it opens with Google logo and the only place it takes me back is TWRP recovery page.
Your support on this is greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Follow the instructions here. You can transfer installation files in recovery using adb commands or you should be able to copy using Windows Explorer.

Or go back to stock using the Nexus images.

Oneplus 3 do not boot after installing OxygenOS 4.0.2

Hello everyone!
My oneplus3 is actually running no OS and I'm having a boot loop.
I will try to explain what happened to me with the most details I can.
Before I ****ed everything up, I think I was running OxygenOS 3.28, not really sure about it but im 100% sure it was below 4.0, and it was rooted with TWRP 3.0.2 installed.
1) Today I had a pop up saying OxygenOS 4.0.2 was available (the official one that pops on the screen on boot) "Yay so coooool Nougat!"
1.1) I downloaded it, 1.4Go, then I pressed install
1.2) TWRP showed up, I didn't know what to do and that's where I ****ed up, I set my phone "factory new" in TWRP.
1.3) Phone restarted fresh new, I thought I had 4.0.2 but naaaaah would've been too easy so the official pop up showed again, I was still 3.28 I think.
1.4) Downloaded it once more, TWRP opened again, this time i was looking for the update i just downloaded in the "install" section. I browsed for quite a while and couldn't find it.
1.5) Master ****-up here: I tried to restore a backup. Then the bootloop happened. The black screen with "Oneplus" written in white. I was able to go back in TWRP by pressing power + volume down
1.6) Tried every kind of restore unsuccessfully, and tried ADB but it wouldn't load. Also TWRP said that I was running no OS when I wanted to turn off my phone for example.
2) I downloaded 4.0.2 from one plus website on my mac, and i flashed the official recovery instead of TWRP.
2.1) Transferred the update from my mac to my PC (seems important to me) and installed ADB & everything on both PC/O+3.
2.2) so adb worked in forceboot, i've been able to flash official recovery, tried once more to wipe & everything, but clearly I have no OS now, as TWRP said.
2.3) so i had the update in a folder (not a zip, probably due to the download being done from a mac), I made it a .ZIP with winrar, but "adb sideload update.zip" crashed at 0% everytime
2.4) looked at the archive then i noticed it was first a folder "OnePlus3Oxygen_16_OTA_039_all_1701140133_03b794d8a8b44883" then inside it i had the content like "boot.img" & everything. So i zipped it again but without that first folder because I thought it was the problem, but it kept on crashing 0%.
2.5) restarted my PC, looked on several forums, but i couldn't find any fix. Now adb can't even open update.zip anymore, it fails even before 0%.. I tried naming it .zip.zip, keeping the name "OnePlus3Oxygen_16_OTA_039_all_1701140133_03b794d8a8b44883.zip", using a third party app to allow more RAM to the cmd app...
I've been trying hard for 4 hours but I still have a O+3 without any OS... My last idea is downloading "OnePlus3Oxygen_16_OTA_039_all_1701140133_03b794d8a8b44883.zip" from my PC so it downloads it directly .zip unlike on my mac...
I hope I said everything, sorry for the long post but i'm desperate.. thanks for your attention,
Valentin

Thank you for answering! unfortunately i've already tried that and my problem occurs when i try to sideload the update from adb recovery... "couldn't load 'update.zip'"
I dont really know what to do now because I think my only option here is to load the OS through adb as I can't boot my phone to get the update zip inside a specified folder to load it from internal storage.
Try to install the new official TWRP version i think it is 3.0.3-0 through fastboot. Boot up TWRP, wipe every partiton and copy the update.zip onto the phone. You can copy it by connecting it normaly via USB(like you would do in OOS) and install the zip file afterwards.

install stock recovery and then try installing official OS. Or install modded twrp 3.0.2-1.28 and then try installing Freedom OS 2.3 via sideload or through internal storage.

Stop fiddling with the ROM. Download the ROM afresh directly to your Windows PC/laptop. Check the md5. Then start experimenting with the other suggestions but don't again meddle with the ROM!

I read your post again and here are a few things:
* Don't update Stock OOS via "System updates" in Settings if you are rooted and have TWRP
* Back up your data before updating, wiping or doing something with your phone.
* For the ADB error, see the FAQ #17 in the guide I provided.
Now, try this:
Flash TWRP via fastboot > boot to TWRP > connect your phone to your PC and copy the full Stock OOS v4.0.2 OTA to your phone > reboot to fastboot and flash Stock Recovery.
It didn't touch the internal storage. So, try to install from internal storage when you are in Stock Recovery.
Let me know if it worked.
