Reboot doesn't help.
How do I delete the cache?
The internal player starts playing. If i want to jump to a specific timepoint, it is reset to the beginning. Very annoying

same problem
I have tried more than 3 different players and have cleared the cache and data from those, still doesnt work. It seems only podcasts that have that format m4a do not play correctly, more specifically podcasts that have chapters. Im certain its a problem with the device...which im not sure how to fix. just to clarify im having problems playing podcasts, they wont start from where left off and cant skip or rewind or it just starts from the beginning.

Im using SPRINT LOVERS ROM (latest build) and I notice that when MEDIAPLAYBACKSERVICE is running, the sense audio player will start to play on its own. For instance, I will go into visual voicemail and play a mail.. I will hear hear the mail BUT then the sense audio player starts up. If I go into services and stop MEDIAPLAYBACKSERVICE, everything seems OK until that service starts again.
What is causing this and how do I resolve? Thanks ...
Never have seen/heard of this before, and I also run the sprint lovers ROM.

This is the latest ROM just posted in the last few days.. it also had the PROXY streaming BREAK issue which I resolved.. BUT now this random audio issue is driving me crazy ... MEDIAPLAYBACKSERVICE is the issue and when that is running the sense widget audio player starts at random. I can be listening to a voicemail in the voicemail app and press STOP in the voicemail app and the player will start and show a notification that it is playing...
any ideas?? I think if you can disable the MEDIAPLAYBACKSERVICE this wont be an issue UNLESS there is a fix...
Did you try re-flashing the rom?

yes 2 times... same issue.. I just tried clearing data from the HTC music player app so we will see...
You can try that, or find the apk, and re-install it. Or install another music player.
WHat do you recommend as a good audio player that doesnt use a lot of resources??
Check your inbox.
Still have this issue. I go listen to visual voivemail. I stop the voicemail and htc player starts playing the ringers on my sd card. I start the voicemail playing and it stops. Any ideas? the htc auto player needed to play ringtones? How would I go about assigning a different player?

When using the stock music player, it will play for a minute and then the phone will lock & reboot. Anyone else having this issue? I've reverted to using Google Play as my main music player, and I have no issues with that app.
Thoughts?

could just be a system bug?
Never had this problem... Wipe data/cache under settings /applications
Fired From My Fire Device.
Sorry to drag up this thread...
I also had this issue. Seemed to only happen when I was playing music that was on my 64GB MicroSD card. If I transfer the same music files to the internal storage - everything is fine!
I might try another SD Card to see if that's the problem.
Hello
I'm on stock rom JB 4.2.1 and since yesterday everytime I'm listening to music it stops randomly.
Sometimes the lockscreen widget starts blinking and music stops...
Anyone of you guys has had the same problem?
Thanks for reading I hope someone could recommend me some workaround or any known cause
Do you have any another music player on your nexus? Another music player may cause crashing issues..
Wipe stock music player Data and cache.
I use cyanogenmod9 music player which causes issues on stock music player like not showing songs information and album art.

This doesn't happen when using deezer or tune in radio... so, I don't think it's the headset
I tried installing power amp and the problem persists
So I've been using Pocket Casts as a podcast player for a while now, and I've never had any issues until switching to the LG G3 (T-Mobile variant).
When I try to play any podcast with .m4a, the podcast will play normally, but the moment I try to use any seeking commands (forward, rewind, pause) the seeker will jump around.
For example, if I pause at 14:53, and then try to restart again, it could randomly jump to 1:10. The same thing happens when I try to forward or rewind.
Curiously, I've noticed that with rewinding and forwarding, they seem to prefer certain time spots. Like if I spam the rewind button, it will constantly go to a certain time period.
If you want to test this yourself, you can try downloading "The Rooster Teeth Podcast" or "The Patch Podcast" on any podcast player, as I know those two use the .m4a format.
To make sure it wasn't the player, I tried downloading podcast addict, which gave the same issue. I also downloaded an earlier episode of the Rooster Teeth Podcast which was an mp3 file, and it played with no issues.
Has anybody else encountered this issue, and does anybody have a fix?
I'd like to bump this seeing as I'm not the only one with this issue. I too tried using other podcast players to play the RT Podcast/Patch, all of them would skip ahead several minutes. They would also refuse to seek past the 45 minute mark or something around there.

Got the same problem with podcast addict. The developer wrote me, that the app is using the internal player. After testing the internal player with m4a files, i can confirm that the issue persist.
I also wrote the LG support about this issue and the answer was: LG does not official support m4a! WTF?
Alternative 1: Use 3. party player. But I didn't find a good one. Only VLC was playing the file but stops audio files if the screen is off.
Alternative 2: Use mp3 feed instead of m4a.

Do you have any music thats saved on your phone? Try playing from there and see what happens. Also, make sure that you're logged in with your google account on Google Play Music.
