I have stupid question. Does anyone know if there is a way that I could hide the dock on just one page of a launcher, be it stock or Nova? I was trying to create a full screen RSS widget, something similar to Blinkfeed or something on my first page but it would look so much nicer if I could hide the dock on that one page or even have the widget run through the dock, again like blinkfeed.
On Nova, just remove the dock entirely and add an extra row of icons to compensate then put your "dock" items on the bottom row of your other pages.

has anyone looked into this? why does android only allow icons to be placed in grids? why not allow free positioning?
burp......
Does it really matter honestly?

you can get adw launcher, and change the settings so each screen is 8x8 instead of 4x4.
But 4x4 or 5x5 is about optimal, because the icons are a standard size any more than this and icons will begin to overlap and it is difficult to touch a specific icon and not accidentally click the wrong one (which is why I think they made it 4x4, to avoid clutter, easier to keep track of coordinates, etc)
Is there an app that just makes a scrollable area on a home screen, like if I had a facebook widget and a twitter widget on the same page then i could use my finger to scroll down to an empty area and add more widgets?
none I know of. You could add more screens, or use something like LauncherPro or ADW to make the widgets themselves scrollable. Smaller scrollable widgets will free up more space. Really, though, why not just add another screen? scrolling left and right is almost the same as scrolling up and down.
guys, how to change icons in GN?
i tried with desktop visualizer and it worked somewhat but not perfectly. Dock icons are smaller than normal. I can only choose Desktop Visualizer ShortCut for dock. Bigger icons cant be put in dock. Using shortcut with custom icons make the icons pretty small than the normal icons.
But in the screenshot thread i have seen people using custom icons which are bigger.
So, is there anything wrong that i am doing here? is there any other way to make a shortcut and change the icon?
cheers
I suggest you use another Launcher rather than the stock one, Try GO LauncherEX or ADW LauncherEX. These launchers will allow you to customize much more.

I've had the same problems with custom icons turning out small. right now I am running a launcher but seems overkill to run a whole launcher just to change a couple icons.
Hola, OGs of the keyboard slider,
I have a few questions to ask to improve my homescreen (the black minimalist screenshot).
CM9
Apex launcher
Advanced Clock Widget
Metrostation Icon Pack
1. Which 5-day weather forecast widget is shown in the other attached screenshot? Or a similar app. One that can show vertically would be great, too.
2. What app can display message/call/email notifications as a widget? Preferably one that hides until a message/call/email is received: i.e. doesn't show "0 new messages".
3. Is it possible to have two distinct layouts for the homescreen, one for portrait and one for landscape? Rather than deal with bunched icons or icons hidden offscreen, I currently have Apex lock the homescreen to portrait, even with keyboard slide. I'm okay with this as apps aren't affected but the app drawer is and I often slide the keyboard to unlock my PIN password on the lockscreen.
4. Can I style the PIN password lockscreen in CM9? Every cool lockscreen I've seen never has the PIN pad out.

You can't remove the dock on this version of Asus Launcher, but if you switched to a different launcher such as Nova, you might be able to.
I don't understand exactly what you're looking to remove.
The whole dock bar? Something in the dock bar? The app tray button?
Just the icon label on dock bar (text).
