Hey guys I've made the jump from the s4 to the g3 and gotta say so far I'm loving it's an awesome device, one thing that I miss from the s4 though is the lock screen turning on every time I got a text message, is their anyway to do this with with the g3? while I'm at work I turn the phone notification sound to silent so I'm not constantly hearing it go off instead I would just look over and see the screen go on, if I could get that working on my g3 then it would be perfect thanks for any help
I use the app Nils Lock Screen Notifications ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.roymam.android.notificationswidget) to get lock screen notifications and to turn my screen on when a notification is received (so long as the phone isn't covered).

Hello, I recently purchased the G3 as well except I am having the opposite problem as you. Out of the box my phone does turn on the screen when i receive a text message and I wish to disable this but cannot find an option to do so. You say yours wasn't doing this at all out of the box? I feel as though i have poured through every settings option and can't disable this.
Have you tried messing with these settings?

Maybe I'm thinking of a cyanogen mod feature here, but wasn't there a way to delay the lock screen from engaging for a set amount of time when you manually turn off the screen in gingerbread? Its very handy.
The "automatic lock" in security settings doesn't seem to apply if you manually turn off the screen.
Anyone else missing this feature or am I missing something obvious ? Thanks

I think he means delaying the security screen. And pretty sure that's just in cyanogen mod
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
For clarity what I mean is when you turn off the screen manually and then turn it back on a few seconds later it requires the unlock code. It can be delayed with a setting so that the unlock isn't required if the screen has only been off for less than x time, and from the sounds of it, its a cyanogen setting. No big deal, thanks.

Edit: never mind, I went back and read the op. Lol
You can set it for up to 30 minutes but, the screen has to time out by itself. I have mine set for 1 minute for the screen timeout and 30 minutes on the lock delay.

This is driving me mad.
My new Galaxy Note 2 randomly goes onto Silent mode. I thought it might be to do with motion so I switch all the settings off. Also there are two settings in display regarding motion and I've switched those off as well.
Still it goes randomly into Silent when I get back to the phone.
Anyone else having this problem or could it be a rougue app doing this?
I have read people complaining about this on the S3.
Thanks
Anis
Long shot, but... Did you check "lock mode" in settings?
Switch off your block mode if it is on in settings.

I think this is a builtin fault of system and it is with android since ICS
Thanks for the replies:
1) Don't know what you mean by Lock Mode?
2) Block mode is definitely not set.
It just did it again.

Sorry. My phone's language is Portuguese and I had to make a guess at the English equivalent. It is probably "block" as leony74 said. 6th entry on the Settings menu.
Sorry folks, I think it was my fault.
My Islamic prayer time app automatically put the phone in silent at prayer time.
Well, I am 99% certain it was this anyway.
I'll report back if it still is going into silent.
Thanks for all your help.
Exactly, Salati app was doing the trick, and the image confirm your theory.

Thanks for your reply, the problem was caused by our prayer app (Muslim prayers) so it turns the phone silent for praying time, i disabled it because sometimes i am not in the mosque so i need my phone on.

I finally found one of the possible reasons! It was avg antivirus app that was causing same problem in my note 2. Try uninstalling avg antivirus. It worked for my phone
Hi,
I use the standard alarm on my Galaxy S3 to wake me up in the morning.
When it goes off I usually just press a button on the side to turn it off. Since a few days, after I've done this there is a notification in the top bar, and a message when I swipe it down. (see screenshot below ) The message reads (mine is in Dutch): "Alarm - You can stop alarms or put them in hiberna.." where I suppose the rest would be "...te by going into settings.." or something.
The annoying thing is this message is a permanent notification and it isn't possible to swipe the message away or I haven't found a way to turn it off. The only way is to reboot the device. Not too much trouble, but kinda trivial to have to do this every day just to get rid of a notification
The phone just recently started doing this, so I'm guessing it came in with a recent update or something.
Any help would be appreciated!
Dries

Long press the notification, then press App Info. Uncheck the Show Notifications box.

Thank you for the reply!
It won't let me uncheck the box, but you did gave me a way to get rid of the notification; as I can "force close" the app. I then have to remember to start it back up, otherwise I won't wake up on time the next day
If there's any more help, I'd be glad to hear it!
I honestly think the best solution is to find a better app. I'd recommend Alarm Clock Plus. There's a free version you can try.

I just installed it. Thanks for the help!
I've never seen this one before.
I would clear data for it and see if it continues, but it looks like you installed another alarm app. I personally am using Timely now. I like the compatibility between TW and AOSP ROMs, the syncing feature, etc.
I would freeze the stock clock app if you're not using it anymore. Wakelocks you don't need.
Hey guys, I've had my phone for a day or so now and just wanted to list some bugs I've found and see if anyone else has experienced them.
When hanging up a phone call my wallpaper is the application settings screen of a random app (reboot fixes)
Sometimes the screen randomly turns itself on
Sometimes after leaving an email (Touchdown Exchange mail) when I press back I am brought to the application settings screen of a random app
When I get a notification and attempt to open it on the lockscreen the lockscreen becomes a rectangle about 3/4 the size of the screen which is empty and I need to swipe within that to open the app that the notification came from
I will add more as I come across them but just wondering if anyone else has experienced those same bugs/glitches. Thanks!
Not a bug but I cant seem to hide folders in my gallery
Verizon g4 here, i have none of those problems except the last one i thought that was normal my g3 did that as well

I guess that's not a bug then per se but it is ugly none the less.
I am having issues with my wifi. It will show connected, but will not connect to internet. If I turn off/on wifi, it will work again. I have tried on a airport extreme and anetgear extender. Same issue on both.
My screen is randomly turning itself on and off very quickly sometimes.
Number three is normal, it's the same on g3. Lg changed it from stick Android where a simple double tap would open the notification. However . If you excited the notifications first, then tapping it goes straight to the app, without swiping.
Hey Verizon people, are you all seeing - when using a lock screen setup (not just swipe) like knock code or pin or pattern - the ugly Emergency Call button?

I'm guessing it's a Verizon thing... I have that on my KitKat Droid Razr M.
I have Verizon and have the Emergency Call on mine as well.
This is going to sound weird but I hope someone can help. Only on my phone and only on WiFi i cant use Amazon. It shows no connection in the app and only lets me go to the sign on screen in the browser. Every other site is functional.
I recently installed the unlocked firmware (XAA, G955U1UEU1AQG2) on my Verizon S8+ and every time I come out of using split-screen (multi-window), the navbar on the home screen will change from transparent with white buttons to white with gray buttons. It doesn't matter what mode the navbar is in. The only way to clear it is to restart the phone. Is anyone else that's running the most most recent version of the unlocked firmware seeing this?

I figured out what was happening. I needed to exit out of split-screen, not swipe down on the bottom window.

Yeah, I love it, it runs smoothly. It doesn't have WiFi calling or Verizon voicemail built in. I know there are mods for WiFi calling, but I don't wanna go through the headache of setting it up. I just use Hangouts (with my Google Voice number) if I ever need to make a WiFi call and Google Voice for my voicemail.

First select select which window you want to close (by physically touching). You'll see the blue line between the windows move in the direction of the window you touch. Then press the little white hash in the middle and then a menu will pop up. Then press X.
