Used Boot Animations Manager, same developer from RomToolbox to Re-size the boot animation which results in Black Screen of Death.

Custom Boot Animation Enabler (MANUAL)
This did not load boot animations from any directory I've found.
1. Place the bootanimation.zip file of your choice in /system /media
2. Still in /system /media , backup and then delete bootsamsungloop.qmg and bootsamsung.qmg files
EDIT: Deleting these qmg files is OPTIONAL ( I always delete stuff I am not using, to create more space in /system , but that's up to the user )
3. Then go to /system /bin , backup and then delete samsungani (This one you have to delete no optional, not optional cause....see step 4 )
4. Still in system /bin rename the file bootanimation to samsungani ( yes there is also in /system /bin a file called bootanimation but without .zip)

Custom Boot Animation (TWRP ZIP INSTALL)
Boots animations loaded from /data/local/bootanimation.zip
? Sources state that /system/media/bootanimation.zip should be default location
! I get /data/local/bootanimation.zip as default location.
If I re-size the animation, I get black screen boot.
The screen never gets to android's X Window Manager.
MUST RECOVER FROM TWRP BACKUP
Anyone know how I can re-size full screen boot animations to 720/[email protected]?
Solution
If solution is found, will be posted here.
My solution so far is to download HD 1280x720 boot animations.
I really like the "Space Tease" boot animation from

-Probably there's a way to create custom boot animations.

I'm having some challenges with getting an alternative boot animation to show up on my One M8... I recently downgraded back to stock 4.4.4 to try and see if that will resolve the interruptions I've been having with Bluetooth playback on my Kenwood deck... (I don't think it was a problem previously on 4.4.4)... anyway, I've got everything working... but wanted to torch the stock boot animation... (basically for the boot sound).
I've tried copying the boot animation I want to use to /system/customize/resource (did this both via adb - mount -o remount,rw /system /system, and then do what I want... and via TWRP... I've changed the permissions to 777... (read that somewhere...) but it looks like it really should be 644... (rw,r,r)
I've named it hTC_bootup_one.zip - no dice... I've unpacked and repacked the zip file (made sure it wasn't compressing the images)
I'm uncertain what else to try... do I need a alternative kernel to monkey with the boot animation?

logo.jpg draw failed
Thanks for the tutorial! I'm pretty sure I'm the one doing something wrong but I can't figure out what.
I was able to flash the param file, both the cwm way and through odin which resulted in "logo.jpg draw fail.." so that part works, but adding my image doesn't work. I've tried several different images, including yours and changed the permissions accordingly but it just doesn't seem to take it. It boots fine though. I've done this before, about a year ago and it worked fine then so I'm wondering if it has to do with my partitioning or that I've updated to marshmallow recently (the battery charging animation changed after upgrade, did something else change too perhaps? Does this tutorial not work any more after update?)
Anyway, if you have any tips, I'd appreciate it.
is this applicable to Marshmallow (CM13)?
@alexbokor40, same issue with @luvis, after flashing the zip, able to get the "logo.jpg fail" but after copying the logo.jpg to the .lfs folder, set the right permissions and reboot, nothing happens. i'm on CM13 official and also has custom pit. I also notice when i open the .lfs folder in root explorer, i can't see the other files inside of it. last time when i was on 4.1.2, i able to see the other files.
any tips will be highly appreciated mate.
It is called bootlogo
It doesn't work on android 7.0 nougat. I didn't find nay file at /mnt/.lfs/
And i didn't get the green message "logo.jpg draw fail" after flashing via twrp 3.0.2
Do you have another method?
is there a way to do that through build.prop? has anyone tried? the param.ls way here seems to fail. in my s2 with cm 13 the bootlogo is not removed, flashing with odin.

Clean awesome bootanimations works fine with our Lenovo A6000
First of all, credit goes to KonradIC13, he has made all these boot animation, I am just sharing them here..
These all are Boot Animation not boot logo.
These are not meant to be flashed.
Do not try to flash these from recovery
Rename the zip file to bootanimation.zip ( Remove/delete it's serial no eg. bootanimation1.zip rename to : bootanimation.zip)
Using root explore or other app that can browse file ( like ES explorer or X-plore)
Access folder: root\system\media\ and
simply copy and paste the renamed zip bootanimation.zip to folder root\system\media\ where original bootanimation.zip is stored
(backup your old boot animation zip and then overwrite the new is recommended if want your previous boot animation in future ).
Reboot, you've new boot animation , Enjoy :good:
How to flash please ... instruct me in Detail
Do not Flash. It's not a flashable zip.

You don't have to Flash the last 5 zips of Clean Boot animation with no texts
Just
Rename the zip file to bootanimation3.zip to bootanimation.zip eg( bootanimation3.zip = bootanimation.zip)
Using ES explorer (open ES explorer , click on Menu> root explorer> R\W Mount R/W
then tick all RW radio botton > OK )
and copy and paste the zip file in folder root\system\media\ and Replace
Reboot...... Done :good:

Introduction:
Here is a quick guide on how to change your boot animation on the surface duo. Note that the surface duo has technically 3 images/animations/steps when booting:
1.) A boot image.
2.) A boot logo.
3.) A boot animation.
This guide is for changing the boot animation only. I haven't figured out yet how to change the boot image and boot logo.
Requirements:
1.) You must be ready rooted.
2.) You must have magisk installed.
Steps to change your boot animation:
Step 1: download the boot_animation_magisk_installer.zip file located in the boot_animation_installer directory and copy it to the /sdcard/ directory on your device.
Step 2: download any of the boot animation zip files located in the boot_animation_collection directory, rename it to bootanimation.zip, and copy it to the /sdcard/ directory on your device.
Step 3: open magisk, go to modules, and install the boot_animation_magisk_installer.zip module. Watch the installation log and and ensure no errors were encountered.
Step 4: reboot and watch your new boot animation.
Steps to revert back to the original boot animation:
Step 1: open magisk, go to modules, and disable or delete the boot animation module.
Step 2: reboot and watch your original boot animation.
Notes:
a.) I don't take credit for any of this work. I have just massaged stuff I found on XDA to work on the surface duo.
b.) these boot animations have not been optimized for a dual screen phone. So the animations will be dead centered on the hinge. I do plan to eventually write a batch script to optimize them for two screens.
c.) Technically any bootanimation.zip file you find on XDA should work with this guide.
d.) No guarantees that this will work for you and not mess up your phone. That being said it works for me on my unlocked surface duo. I'm currently rocking the Matrix boot animations and I love it!

Hi, any tips how to change boot animation and copy oryginal boot animation?
Which "original boot animation"?
Also the animation is located in /system/media/bootanimation.zip and the sound is called bootaudio.mp3. just change them using Root Explorer or some other root file explorer.
