I'm on T-mobile and have a stock G3, wifi calling enabled and calling preference set to Wi-Fi Preferred. When I try a wifi call I get "There are no internet calling accounts on this phone" and am asked to make a SIP account. Anybody seen this?
Yes use this to log into works voip system so I can make and receive work calls.

T-mobile says I don't need anything but a standard home network and their phone.
That's not how I have done it, and I'm not sure how that would work

Just found this, "T-Mobile has opensourced their SIP with TLS/SIM Auth stack on android..." here
Mine worked out of the box, connected to WiFi and WiFi calling came on. No extra stuff is necessary.
When you say stock you mean a stock tmobile g3 right?
Not sure if you're trying to specifically execute internet calling. For T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling just have it enabled (set preferred), and be on wifi with internet access. You should see a notification appear saying you're using Wi-Fi Calling. Then just make normal calls and they go over wifi.
My wife also got a G3 at the same time, and hers works so it's not my location, router, DSL, etc. Tried a factory reset to no avail. It's in T-Mobile's hands now. If it's not a programming thing on their end I'll go for a new phone.
Tried the wife's sim and also compared every setting in her phone to mine but saw nothing different. Got a new phone, still no dice.
T-Mobile says that "Internet call" in the pop-up refers to voip and "Cell phone call" is cell and also wifi calling if it's on. I've never used voip so I don't see how it could be some remnant of that. Tech support gave it several shots but finally threw in the towel.
I get this on every number i dial except voicemail:

Did you migrate from a Nexus 5 or a rooted android device? I have the same issue. My Nexus 5 had the ability for a VoIP (SIP) account which I had configured on my Nexus device. I believe the T-Mobile LG G3 skin does not allow for this or it is hidden. So when Google restored my setting on my new LG G3 phone, it included the settings for VoIP /SIP account however not supported by t-mobile. This means I need to figure out how to access this account or I need to factory default out my G3. The issue is once I do this, I will not be able to use Google services to restore my config or it will configure the VoIP account again and I will be back at square one.

My last phone was a G2. Yes, the voip settings are missing (normally under Call, Internet Settings) which I assume is T-Mobile's doing. I added a dummy SIP account to see what would happen and the dialer attempted to use it. I could not delete this account in Settings, but clearing data for the Phone app erased it. I guess there is another setting that I can't get to that will fix this. If by "factory default" you mean factory reset, that did not help me. If you mean new google account, that may work but is more trouble than it is worth to me.

Thanks for the reply. It seems we are in the same boat my friend. I wonder if Google or Google + has an interface to show what apps and config get restored? If I find anything out I will update this post.

Installed an OTA update today that was supposedly for Wi-Fi Calling enhancements but it did nothing for me. Help you?
EDIT: Funny, the update was changed to "T-Mobile Free Inflight Texting support".
Also Google has finally brought WiFi calling with Google Voice into Hangouts, like they had foe over a year already on iOS. This pretty much eliminates any need for voice minutes on any US or Canadian carrier and works fine over WiFi or data.
I called my son and was able to retrieve my Voice phone number which I had forgotten.

Here is a cab for Tmobile Visual Voicemail from the new Leaked Rom.
At the moment vvm is only for blackberry 9700 and android devices. when you log into your mytmobile.com account just change the pic of ur device to a blackberry 9700 device and when you go to change services it will let you add the vvm service for free.
Then you can switch the device back to your TP2. it goes thru instantly as if you called in to make the change. i just did it and it worked!
Have Fun ..
any screen shots to go with this file?
tried it i guess gotta pay for that service. didnt said i needed to go purchase it.
VVM is a free add on, you have to tell hint to them to add it as if you had an Android phone, otherwise Tmo CS will tell you it's not available, Im using it right now

Does doing this make any changes to your data plan? I currently have the $19.99 plan with a TP2 bought on ebay and want to be sure my data plan wont get switched.
when I change my phone in my t-mobile to either a bb9700 or mytouch3g, and try to add visual voice mail.....the system tries to remove my 5.99 t-zones.
Has anybody with t-zones been able to add visual voice mail?
ops .. dubble post sorry ..
1. Install cab
2. Log on to My T-mobile web site
3. Change your phone to My Touch 3G
4. Then click Change Services
5. Check the box for Visual Voicemail, and click through the verification stuff.
6. Open the visual voicemail app from the phone and activate it!
DONE!!!!
Give it a try ? Hope it works for you.

Switch the phone on your account to the BB9700. This will let you keep the Total Internet plan, The M3TG selection makes you change to another data plan and does not have these as selection.

Just tried it and it works.
Only thing is that the CAB here I installed keeps locking up my phone after a while, using Valkyrie rom.
Well, I went to a T-Mobile retail store to get my 5.99 T-Zones back and they had to call Customer Care. I was finally able to have it on my plan again but with a warning: don't mess up again (told them a family member changed my phone to a myTouch on the T-Mobile account website) because this is the last time they will put it back.

My phone was locking up/lagging out because I had 5-6 voicemail messages. I deleted all but one and it started responding a little better. I think it get's bogged down easily.
it froze on mine with 1 message.
So I deleted it after playing.
Did a reset, opened the VVM, just looked at the settings. Closed the settings, the whole app closed. I reopened it.
Then after i hit the X to close it again, it turned the bottom bar whitish. I cannot click on the Start button. TF3D works fine apparently.
This happens every time.
Finally got this to work using a new rom. It let me delete 2 voicemails just fine, but it locked up my phone after I tried to exit the inbox.
I'm certain I sent or received some MMS before 4.0.4 - although could have been on my G Note - but I've been trying to send a photo for 2 days and it just says 'sending'. I've also been sent 3 photos but in my conversation it just has a 'download' button to which I press and it'll just say 'downloading' for 5 minutes and then turn back to a 'download' button.
Quite rely on MMS as we don't have 3G network in our area so sending emails isn't an option here unless you're on WiFi and I've always in the past used MMS over GPRS.
I also tried accessing the internet over GPRS but it won't load anything - even just google.com.
I've reset my phone thinking perhaps I had done something, used the 'SIM Tool Kit' to get settings, requested settings from O2 and entered manual settings which I had direct from O2.
Any suggestions?

Lol as i said in the past to iphone lovers... Go back to your piece of crap iphone and dont come here to trash talk about android if you are not able to fix an issue thats your problem, dont blame the phone, blame yourself....
In the other hand you should check the APN menu and see if the Settings for the MMS are the same as your Carrier is not well find out wich are the correct Settings and modify it...
And to finish GPRS DOES NOT handle internet data you must have at least EDGE wich by the way its slow as hell and to send just 1 photo depending on the size of it (guessing its a large photo and its not 1 its 3) it will take looooong time to send it and the process will time out....
So its not the phone its you trying to get 300 mph in a Ferrari but using water in tank instead of gasoline... Have a nice day

But I used to be able to send MMS fine on the Galaxy Note and all previous phones including iPhone and Windows Phone, and use the internet over GPRS. Yes it was VERY slow, but it worked!!
I really don't want to go back to the iPhone and am not 'trash talking' iPhone cos I love the customisation of Android - it's just it seems to be too customisable and for someone who isn't knowledgeable about these thing (and rely on help from forums like these) so scared in case I've done something hence why I'm running stock rom and asking if it is a bug or not and for some help.
Only reason I mentioned iPhone is because I know it worked and is a phone a toddler could use cos it 'just works'. Crikey give me a break I'm trying to learn and ask for help here to fix it. I thought that's what these forums were for?
I've removed what I said so not to cause offence and apologise for that.

Follow the steps I posted, find out whats your Carrier smsc number first and thats it, and if you have some kind of market enabler, dissable it too before trying to send your MMS, send 1 picture at a time and check also your Carriers APN for MMS and make sure its the same you have here settings> more> mobile networks> APN
But if you are not able to navigate at least open Google in the browser i doubt you will be able to send MMS cuz that system depends on having internet acces thats why the Settings are in the APN (access point name)

Yeah already done that and input a new APN from settings given to me by my carrier.
I just phoned my carrier and they suggested perhaps it's because I was on an iPhone tariff it didn't work so they've put me on a standard network bundle to try which won't come into effect until tomorrow or Tuesday. I doubt it's the problem as like I said before, I'm sure I sent MMS before 4.0.4 and I definitely used GPRS for internet before it and on my Galaxy Note - but it's worth a try.
With all these accusations of signal issues with 4.0.4 I thought perhaps it could be related.
Thanks for the suggestion and help with that little text message fiasco though - was seriously panicking then!! lol
as msedek said, sending MMS needs data call active. end of story.
GPRS should be able to do this. GPRS is one of the (if not the) first mobile data protocols running on top of GSM, i'll check this later at work to be totally sure.
Edge is another version of GSM data call protocols.
Then you got UMTS mobile networks, which in turn allow for 3G and HSDPA/HSDPA+/HSUPA data calls.

GPRS and Edge
Am facing a similar issue, I dont keep the mobile data turned ON at all times, after turning on and off a few times it doesnt work any more. The E symbol does not appear on top of the signal indicator and typing *#*#4636#*#* shows GPRS as disconnected. A power cycle always fixes the issue and I can keep using it , till it stops again after turning the Mobile data ON and OFF couple of times. Any suggestions ?

MMS is sent over a DIFFERENT APN than data, so you need to have both APNs (for your carrier) configured in your settings.

GPRS handles data so it can handle Internet data as well. It might be slow, but back in the days it was the only thing available and we were using it for internet access as well.
Now... to back to the topic issue.
I had the same problem after updating my Note to ICS. The solution which I found was to go to:
Settings > More > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > click on the left soft button and select Reset to default. That's it! It worked for me and it I hope it will work for you as well.
I noticed on a friend's SIII that while looking on his APN connections there was only one bullet shown by the first APN. On mine there was one bullet on the side of every APN. When I hit Reset to default, these bullets dissapeared and only one was left.
Taken from slickdeals.com If the mods wish to move this to the proper forum so be it. I noticed our "SPRINT" phone was supported to flash to Metro. Also if the .exe file is no longer downloadable let me know... works for other phones also....Thanks
Sprint Samsung SPH-D710 (Epic Touch SGS2) Full and Half
Free (for now) CDMA Flasher Software
This is a software program that dealers pay a monthly fee to flash CDMA phones to Page Plus, Cricket, and MetroPCS among other services. Right now they are letting people download the software for free. They have also posted a public username and password so everybody has full access to the program. As their goal is to sell a monthly subscription to the software, I would not expect this public account to last long.
Program is good in that it is free if your phone and your designated carrier is among the supported. Process is also simple in that you just input some numbers and click the PROVISION button. Not so good is that some phones do not have flashing directions at all. Maybe a similar model's directions would work??? Also although data might work with a Full Flash, it may not be 3g.
Looks like the typical way a phone is flashed is by first putting it in USB debugging mode and then dialing ##3424#. You also need to enter your phone number, MID, and SID (for you locale).
Software:
http://www.cdmaflasher.com/Downloads/index.php
1. Install CDMA Flasher
2. Install driver if needed
3. Install .Net Framework if not already on your computer
Public Account from their homepage cdmaflasher.com
Username: CDMAFLASHER
Password: test
If somebody knows of specific instructions to a particular phone with no directions within the software program, feel free to post it here.
so have you used this for yourself?
No i havent since i'm locked in for another year. I just may have to thou next year.
I took a peek at it, looks like a quick way to flash your phone over to one of the MVNO networks from the main networks, e.g. From Sprint to Cricket or USCell to MetroPCS (but not vice-versa)
Looks like the application is a mostly cloud-based backend, where you log-in to use the application, and then it will pull ODIN libs and device images from their servers temporarily to your PC for flashing a device over to the desired networks. the interface has dynamic menus to make it easy to figure out what's available, the D710 being one of them.
asks for destination carrier, then current carrier, device manufacturer, device model, and whether you want a full or half-flash ( what's a half flash? like i could install a cricket config next to my sprint config?)
Might be cool if I was thinking about doing that right now, but I doubt I'd really decide to make that change while this thing is still free to use. If half-flash would leave me with a simplified option to chose to use cricket at any time later if i wanted to, might be of interest...)

Thanks for the thread.
I have been trying to flash a generic Samsung SCH-i500 to ntelos for about a month and was able to get phone and text to work but no data.
I had tried everything with no luck until this.
Worked great and saved me from paying ntelos fees especially when they said they would not guarantee 3g
Thanks again
Call me skeptical and old fashioned, but... I personally can't fathom how someone can charge a monthly subscription for something like this.
From what I have read, the half flash involves giving the phone in question talk and text capabilities (read: this thing ONLY slaps in the MDN and MIN, maybe even going as far as pushing the PRL for the carrier). Full flash, unless I missed something, will likely include the half flash plus adding proxy and port settings for MMS and internet. The fact that they "cannot guarantee that 3G will work" is a dead give away of this and that the service is a scam, and here is why:
* Provisioning your device (which is all this thing does) is only a tiny piece of the whole flashing process, and a simple one to do for that matter. You don't need a PC for this (any phone can be provisioned from itself if you know the MSL number which you can either find out through terminal emulator, MSL reader apps, or even by calling your current carrier), let alone a software package with a monthly fee. The biggest hurdle is to get the device added to the carrier's db of approved phones. This is done by adding the device's MEID and pESN onto their db via things like Houdini (this is for MetroPCS, not sure about what others use as more often than not, they will not allow you to BYOP anyways);
* They cannot guarantee the 3G for a very simple reason... this does not modify/touch (likely depending on the device, of course) the HA and AAA keys needed for the 3G to be validated by the carrier's system. Much like MEID and pESN, these keys are device specific, which means that if they are not accepted by the system, you will never get a 3G connection, period.
The only 2 ways to avoid having to pay the fees for BYOP are to:
1. Have someone you know working for a corporate store add the device to their network for free;
2. Go the "illegal" route, which I am not about to describe/discuss here.
Stay away from this program, and please.... whatever you do... DO NOT pay them a monthly fee. The program will add the numbers as it describes, but please... everything this program does can be done manually through the phone itself. But most importantly, you will still need to get the device added to your carrier by paying them.
Worked For Me
My only response is the program worked for me in getting the i500 to have data and 3g. Granted I did not need it for voice or text however Ntelos told me they could not guarantee the phone would have data and I did not want to spend the bucks for them to try and fail and it still come out of my wallet.
I will say their apk for getting MMS to work did not work on my phone, but I can live with that.
For a free trial it worked for me. Most of the time all that is needed to flash a phone is the proper software.

Much like MEID and pESN, these keys are device specific, which means that if they are not accepted by the system, you will never get a 3G connection, period.
The only 2 ways to avoid having to pay the fees for BYOP are to:
1. Have someone you know working for a corporate store add the device to their network for free;

Actually the half flash is free for everyone. You are only charged for full flashes. The monthly subscription gives you unlimited full flashes and includes the iPhone, and there is no required subscription or contract.

Don't worry, it's nothing you can't find anywhere else.
The people who were saying that this does nothing worth paying for are correct too.
What is worth paying for is a way around needing the secret keys, HA and AAA, which are required if you want to get on a different network. A Verizon 3g phone does not need to be flashed for it to run on Page Plus, but a Sprint phone does. It's a wooly world of scammers out there, except for certain ones.
Those that work offer a guarantee.

can i flash my maximus max906 with this software. its android version 2.3.6 . and kernel version 2.6.3 .

For those with Cricket
I did the half flash, activated over the phone by calling cricket and switching my device. And then got the 3g working by following the steps at.

If you know what you are doing with the tools such as CDMA workshop and others, it makes no difference which carrier you flash to.
You want me to put the hammer down?
Hi everyone,
I've got 3 weeks left before heading overseas for volunteer service. I'll be Lesotho, Africa for 27 months and surprisingly, they have cellular/edge/wimax/3G services there.
Has anyone unlocked our phone for GSM use before? I just want to get the facts straight before calling them up. I have my Dinc2 which is rooted and running CM7- will I need to flash stock to get the unlock prompt after they give me the code? Or will the prompt still display on a custom ROM?
I have a 2nd Dinc2 I just picked up on ebay. It is still "locked" as well but all stockified. I've read big red only allows 1 unlock per year.. but I bet with enough persistence I can get it done.
Thanks in advance

The phone itself is unlocked. If you plan to use Verizon service, I don't think you have to do anything. If you want to use local service provider there, you have to "Sim unlock" Dinc2 by calling Verizon and request MEP code. This can only be done in stock rom as far as I know. After unlocking Dinc2 to use different carrier sim, you can reflash with a custom ROM. So far I have tested and it works with CM7 rom in the States but at the moment MROM is not working with me when I'm back to Vietnam so I have to investigate further. But that is the general process.

This is exactly the advice I was looking for. Thank you very much startrek. I planned on using MROM but I'll be sure to have a copy of Official CM7 in the event it doesn't work.
Also, I'll note that VZW gave me the 2 unlocks codes for both my vivows, even though one of them was purchased on ebay. The customer service was surprisingly helpful.

After spending a whole day testing and trying out, I finally figured out what was going on with MROM. Apparently the latest version of it (20130401) is not able to keep the phone sim unlocked after the first reboot when you are done flashing. I tried to downgrade from 2013-04-01 to 2013-02-15 without wiping data but the problem still existed. However, if you do a fresh reflash (wiping data, cache and all that jazz) of the 2013-02-15 version, the phone will work with GSM and it will NOT lock the sim back again as it happened to me with 2013-04-01 version.
The link is here if you still need it. http://goo.im/devs/mmontuori/mrom/vivow
However, I am still unable to get the data working. I've been trying but it hasn't worked. Probably have to take it to Customer Service Rep to figure it out. Other than that, voice and texts are fine.
And yes, Verizon rep are very comfortable with giving you the MEP code for some reason. They probably have had a lot of people requesting the same thing.

A # of newcomers and semi-related questions about Sim-unlocking the GSM radio so that it can work with Sim cards other than VZW/vodafone Sim pre-installed in the DI2 - let me share my limited expertise in this area.
You do NOT need to flash the RUU before calling for the unlocked code from VZW - if you want to be as close to stock as possible, download AndyBone's ROM as his link is apparently down - I posted Dropbox link to mine, in case anyone is looking for it - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1219471&page=184 (see post #1831) Or, just use Nit's TSM Sense 5"m" with or w/o Ext.4 option - based on Sense 2.1 - that's what I use when I travel abroad.
To verify, (borrow one if you do not have it) a working AT&T Gophone (prepaid) Sim from someone (or, a T-Mobile prepaid Sim, although it's a bit more work to modify the APN to get data & the account has to be provisioned for it) - put the Sim into the DI2, power up & change network to GSM only - and you should be good with voice & SMS. Make a test call to confirm that you can dial out and receive incoming call on that mobile # - you do NOT want to find out that it's not working traveling inside Mexico, Japan or somewhere in Europe or what not.
For mobile data on your GSM provider to work - you need to confirm that APN settings are valid & working - and that it is saved to the device. Those are your APN Name, Proxy, Port, Username, Password, MMSC, etc. - some are blank, others are carrier-specific, etc. AT&T has theirs, ditto for T-Mo and other GSM providers. If they are not set or incorrect, mobile data might but most likely not work - generic settings for Android phones should be sufficient, but not always. If yours aren't working, confirm that the Sim card is valid & working on an unlocked quadband phone and try again. It is sometimes possible for the carrier to do OTA download to update the device so that SMS/MMS & mobile data can work by loading the APN's to the device, otherwise - it has to be done manually by going to the sub/menus.

Thank you for such an informative post. Apparently I've been setting up my APN wrong. I have to set my APN Type to be "default, supl" After I did that, it's up and running! I blame Vietnamese carrier for NOT being helpful whatsoever! But thanks so much!

Happy to hear that you got it working - by any slim chance, it's MobiFone in HCMC, last used one of their prepaid Sim 3 years ago, voice was easy and just work. Our bilingual English tour guide tried all day as we got it while stopping for Pho near one of the older market in District 1, and no luck at all. Back at our hotel, we tried using the online website for self-help and it wasn't useful either, details within the English website were mostly in Vietnamese, except for the pictures - and, looked like nothing much has changed. This is off-topic, another recommendation for a local mobile provider should we plan another visit in the future?
Take care & have fun - and are you now getting 3G speed or at least showing that on the screen?

I'm glad you are thinking about returning to Vietnam. Most people don't after their first visit lol. I personally use MobiFone in Vietnam and I don't plan to change that. Their voice quality is really good and Customer Service number is toll-free unlike another popular carrier Viettel (or at least it was when I left Vietnam). I really enjoy using them and would recommend you to use them as well.
Are you talking about trouble getting SMS work or just data? My friend uses Galaxy Note 2 and everything automatically got set up and ready to go (APN and SMS centre) after she just popped the SIM in her phone so I blame the Dinc2 for being so troublesome. I can post their APN setting down here if you want to. I had to do a little bit of Googling but it shows up in the first 5 results.
And yes I am able to get 3G speed. MobiFone uses Hspda+ in Vietnam.

Xperia XA2 H3113 Android 9 (50.2.A.3.77)
Hi,
I recently got an Xperia XA2 and I can't use VOLTE.
My previous phone the Samsung j5 pro worked, but the XA2 keeps dropping down to H+.
I have contacted Vodafone in Brisbane Australia and they say it is an issue with the handset and it may need an update.
Any help would be appreciated.
I tried *#*#4636#*#* , but VOLTE provisioned is greyed out and off.
Same problem here for over a year. *#*#4636#*#* dimmed out. Also see wifi calling under that is also dimmed out. Sometimes I spend a few days or a couple weeks trying to solve this with AT&T and a little bit with Sony. But then I have to get back to work eventually without an answer. No one seems to have an answer. Did you ever resolve this?
Sony support has informed me they have XA2 customers with VoLTE working on AT&T, and here is more confirmation it should work from Freedom Mobile.
Freedom Mobile VoLTE enabled on Sony Xperia XA2, XA2 Ultra, XZ2
Freedom Mobile's fledgling VoLTE service now supports the Sony Xperia XA2, Xperia XA2 Ultra and Xperia XZ2.

Hey @MatthewIsLost.
I'm not sure if you still have your XA2 like I do. I'm busy and just kept using it. I'm being forced to do something finally because my carrier is shutting down 3G and they think I have a 3G phone because it keeps switching to 3G for voice calls for months or maybe a year and a half. When I first bought the phone the switches in the OS were there for VoLTE and WiFi-calling, but I didn't know what they were and was busy. When I would work on my H or H+ calls problem every few months with AT&T I learned I wanted those features. Never could get it. Sony was patiently helpful over the last couple years about this and advised they would not update the phone OTA with an update that would take away any features of the phone such as VoLTE and WiFi-calling. They also gave me the URL last week that shows the XA2 as a Sony phone with VoLTE at this link...

With this recent push from AT&T to get a 4G phone, I finally decided it's time to figure this out. I spent some hours with tech support at AT&T and finally one rep listened to my symptoms and ran tests for about 45 minutes and finally asked me if my phone said AT&T at the top. It did not. That led to me finally spend more hours figuring out how to flash my Sony. Hadn't flashed with fastboot and adb since my old MotoX. Dialing *#*#4636#*#* has also shown dimmed out buttons like yours. No one could tell me what that meant. By the way, I stopped by Verizon store and they were very helpful and put in a Verizon SIM they had lying around and my phone booted with it and my screen said Verizon at the top left as it was supposed to. That was done with the flash of LineageOS ROM on my phone.
A few days ago I used the installation instructions at LineageOS to put LineageOS 18.1 on my XA2, so right now I'm running Android 11 (LineageOS 18.1) and have been testing it for a few days. Getting a new SIM I hope soon, and also hope to get a cleaner flash of LineageOS before that SIM. I still have trouble with my signal strength icon and it still doesn't say AT&T in the top left of my screen, but it now says AT&T in the settings menu next to signal strength icon. I also now have the VoLTE switch in Settings/Network/Mobile Network where it should be, and WiFi-calling switch is in the Phone app settings under calls where it should be, and they are also showing as all turned on now in *#*#4636#*#* menu. So it is real progress on learning something. Not sure what yet. Since I flashed, it doesn't switch to H or H+ any more on calls, but whenever I make a call it switches from LTE to 4G, so I'm still not allowed VoLTE for some reason.
Malware? With LineageOS, I also installed Protectstar's Anti Spy and it identifies "Data Transfer Tool" as malware and that the program's source is unknown. I cannot delete it. Search reveals a regular Data Transfer Tool is a Google app. So could this be a fake version of the real Google app, or a false positive? No idea. Maybe if Data Transfer Tool really is malware or is fake version of the real app that adds reporting capabiliy, could it be such a good fake that Google won't let me delete that part of the OS. I also accidentally found 1 app had permission to use Unrestricted Data and it was Google Play services. I don't know if it is supposed to, but I turned it off. The thinking on my part is it would fit in with how my phone behaves. It's like there is never too much damage, it has mostly been like someone is in the way hampering me and getting all my data. Makes it difficult to grow a business over years.
Also after this new Lineage flash, I noticed at boot up, even though I always keep location turned off, the little tear drop icon indicating "location on" would show up at the top of my screen for 1-2 seconds as though reporting my location. As I drove around town and tried to keep tabs on my signal I would see the location being turned on and off again and again from time to time. Since I reported this over email and voice calls, it seems to have stopped. Since I don't know much, I still think there is malware. I learned some time back there is SIM malware. SIMs have microprocessors too. Check out this...

I hope to have a cleaner flash of my XA2 today or tomorrow and a new SIM soon to get my phone to say AT&T at the top. We'll see.
If anyone knows where I can read about securely overwriting my phone storage without losing the ability to flash a new ROM, it would be great to hear from you. I thought I remembered using TWRP years ago with an option to format and it took a long time for a 32 GB phone as it should. But I wasn't able yet to confirm on the Net that TWRP overwrites all partitions. I see the "fastboot format" but something I read made me think it was only for the user data. I have lots to read.
Update July 31, 2021: My posts will continue about this problem at my URL wigglemylegs.com. I am continuing to look for technical answer for how AT&T can say my phone is 3G when they have seen my phone talking to them live on 4G, using LineageOS 18.1. If anyone knows how to straighten this mess out with AT&T it would be great to hear from you. They are trying to force my 4G LTE phone off their system by February 2022, by claiming it is only a 3G phone.

AT&T (and I presume it's MVNOs) is not just instituting a VoLTE only policy, they are instituting a device whitelist. So even if your phone is VoLTE capable and can use this technology on say T-Mobile, if it isn't on the AT&T whitelist, it is banned from their network. So aside from the "we must redeploy bandwidth" reason, AT&T is using this change as an excuse to strike down BYOD and presumably boost handset sales...as well as the monetization of their customers by giving them handsets with preinstalled software that can more easily harvest their information.
Hey,
I just sumbled upon this threat because I'm trying to get VoLTE working on my mothers XA2 Ultra. Old_Mil is right with what he said but there is some Qualcomm tool to import the setting for a carrier to the modem. I did it for my old OP 3. But it's probably very risky to brick the modem.
If you really want I'll look for the link and some BG info.
Pretty interesting. I found this bit here below.
How to enable VoLTE on Qualcomm devices running Generic System Images (GSIs)
The VoLTE-Fix mod can be used to bring back support for Voice over LTE on most Project Treble-compliant Qualcomm devices running Generic System Images.

I guess that's what you're referring to above.

Does it work for anybody?
I've been so busy I haven't looked into any of that fix for myself. Anyone else have anything?
I spent many hours over years trying to familiarize myself with the technology involved on my XA2 and learn how to fix my phone with AT&T's help. They didn't want to help. They tortured me for years by removing my VoLTE after the first 2 months, by reclassifying my XA2 as 3G so their towers won't accept me. You can read about it at my handyman URL of
wigglemylegs.com
where I posted many details. If you scroll to the bottom of long thread you see a dateline summary. AT&T HQ told me they could see my phone was erroneously classified as 3G in their tables and they could see that it was clearly a 4G LTE phone, but they didn't have the resources to fix it. When I opened a complaint with the FCC they wrote a reply denying this. Their legal out when faced with getting caught up in corruption is to offer a free phone. They offered me several models of free phones, but I didn't want it, because it is the principle of the thing that is wrong. I currently am on Lineage OS (Android 11) using voice apps that use data only like Whatsapp and so forth. Works great. Limited on calling regular numbers, so use others for that. The HD voice quality is just super!!
May the VoLTE be with you!!
