Interesting, I have found and fixed the part which was causing this exact same issue on my previous builds on the xperia z and various other models... That was caused by a bug I personally introduced by implementing a new backlight control. The issue is fixed on the other models now...
I'll have another look for it, maybe some of the device repository flags are making it go haywire...
Cwm works fine, but does Philz Touch work as well?

Possibly, yes. It seems to be coming from a different source here though, probably the driver.
If anyone is willing to help me debug this and has some knowledge of linux commands, you can contact me by PM to arange a Hangouts session or to agree on a time to meet up on freenode IRC. I'm in #TWRP now, I'll be running off for some groceries soon, but will be back shortly.
http://nut.xperia-files.com/tmp/recovery.twrp.cpio.lzma
Put it inside /system/bin and reboot to TWRP. I changed it to turn off the screen for a second and then enable it again. It might not even show, but if my hunch is right, this will make it work OK.

Hi,
Moto E had exactly the same problem in twrp so I asked cybojenix about the solution. It was a problem in the touch screen driver. Here is the commit which fixed it for moto e - https://github.com/cybojenix/kernel_motorola_condor/commit/1687140f4fb6c9f3c4d68e92381253801192f7b3
I tried to implement the same kind of fix in our touch drivers but couldn't figure out how to do it. Also, the kernel source for kitkat isn't out yet.

Well, my latest attempt tries to deal with it from the top down, as it has to work on stock kernels, I'm switching the screen off and on again as if the time went and the device is woken up again.
I still have no idea if it works: I don't own the device to test it.
Can you give it a test and see if it works? https://github.com/xNUTx/android_de...lob/cm-11.0/recovery/twrpgraphics.c#L683-L684

There are a lot of current users of the Xperia S/Acro S/ Sola and a lot of new users coming through here aswell. There are also a lot of questions being asked time and time again, aswell as a lot of new users being flamed and/or trolled for asking a simple question. This is filling up our Q&A and Development forums with junk which doesn't need to be there.
Instead, just point them to this thread to get all the help they require, which in turn, lessens the clutter of the forums aswell.
If you're reading this and you're a new user to XDA, I suggest you read the XDA New User Guide by mf2112, as it contains all the information you'll need to have a happy and productive time across the whole of XDA.

It may also include an FAQ of questions which get asked fairly often, yet don't have a specific thread to find the answer. (I'm still deciding on this idea yet though). It will also include some important links for you all to check out.
In post #3 you'll find the links to different ROMs and kernels for the Xperia S. Links provided by Felimenta97.
ASK ANY RELATED QUESTION HERE,bootloader, drivers, how to root etc...... You will either get an answer here or will be given the best thread for you to go to so you can get your answer.
Even if you find your answer from one of the links provided, please come back here and look through the other threads, as you may learn something else you didn't know.

Hi,
The xperia sspeed kernel v6 isn't guaranteed to work on stock ROMs, even though it does work with some.
If you're able to boot into recovery, flash the Advanced Stock ICS Kernel linked in this thread and it should work fine for you.

To use Sony programs again (not including MEDIA GO) you would have to relock your bootloader. But you can download the firmware you want and use Flashtool to flash it on your phone.
I will add later a link to a thread with the stock firmware.

Hi all
I just flashed Advanced Stock Kernel on my Xperia S today, after I had a problem 'cause I flashed DooMKernel over ICS. I was wondering if the advanced stock kernel was pre rooted, 'cause it came with super user installed, but isn't giving root access or super user permission to any apps (including busybox) infact, after I installed busybox, random pop ups kept saying that root access was being denied to various apps. (I had Titanium Backup*Root and busybox installed) I'm really new to all of this, and would appreciate any help at all
Oh and also, Juice Defender detected a root and Apex launcher now allows me to add widgets from the app drawer, which required root access, if I'm not wrong. I'm wondering if I went wrong somewhere..
Thanks again
Oh god, it's all on and off, I don't know what's happening.

I'd suggest installing Root Checker to make sure whether you are intact rooted or not.
If it says you're not rooted, then simply root your device and everything will be fine.
If it says you are rooted, there may possibly be something wrong with permissions.

Yeah, I tried Root Checker and it says that it's not intact. Also, the Apex launcher thing isn't working anymore (Adding widgets from the drawer, which needs root access)
But in Super User it says root permission granted to RootChecker and busybox, but like I said, the logs keep saying denied. So I'm not sure
I'd be really grateful if you can point me in the direction of a way to root my phone. I thought advanced stock kernel is rooted. Should I Flash KA S Speed kernel and flash Stock kernel again? I'm sorry if I sound stupid, this is my first Android...
Since DooMLoRD has stopped the development of his great DooMKernel for the Xperia ZL, and after his permission, I'm proud to announce
UNOFFICIAL DooMKernel for the Xperia ZL
This is fully based on his original kernel sources at https://github.com/DooMLoRD/android_kernel_sony_apq8064
It's also compiled using Google GCC 4.7 Toolchain precompiled from his repo at https://github.com/DooMLoRD/android_prebuilt_toolchains
So, THANKS AND DONATE TO @DooMLoRD for his awesome job and for letting me build this unofficial release. Please, DO NOT REPORT BUGS IN THIS RELEASE TO DooMLoRD, since this is an UNOFFICIAL and UNSUPPORTED release.
You can follow the original thread for current DooMKernel at the Xperia Z forum here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2172888. There you will find all the features of the current release, and discuss specific issues specific to this kernel.
The releases are for STOCK JELLYBEAN 4.2.2 firmwares. Currently tested only on 10.3.1.A.0.244. Starting on v17r1 onwards, the kernel should work on both 10.3.1.A.0.244 *and* 10.3.1.A.2.67.
Starting on v13r2 onwards, I'm including a custom ramdisk, which is basically Sony's stock ramdisk plus two changes made by DooMLoRD: init.d support and fix for wrong date during boot.
Starting on v17r1 onwards, I'm including DooMKernel's ramdisk with all its goodies, including dual recovery! I had to spend some time adjusting a few things on it, to make it fully work on our ZL (changing some definitions from the Z to the ZL, and changing the event listener to access the recoveries).
Thanks @iridaki for teaching how to work with ramdisks: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477845.

*MAJOR UPDATE* General instructions and recommendations
As with previous releases, to install this kernel simply flash the zipfile in recovery.
MY RELEASE DOES NOT INCLUDE RECOVERY. You can use XZDualRecovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261606 from @[NUT].
Starting on v17r1 onwards, the kernel uses DooMKernel's ramdisk adjusted for the ZL, which includes dual recovery! So there's no need to install XZDualRecovery separately if you want, but you can still do so if you want!
I recommend you first BACKUP THE FOLLOWING DIRECTORIES:
Code:
/system/etc/firmware/wlan/prima
/system/lib/modules
Because the kernel includes new WLAN firmware and modules, and in case you want to go back to stock kernel, you can just flash the old kernel and restore your backups.
Thanks a lot..

I believe it should work, since for rooting .244 we need to flash the old .423 kernel and then back to .244. Since both are Jelly Bean 4.2.2, there should be no compatibility issues, but test and get back to us if it works.

It's not happening to me. Did you flash the zipfile including the new Wi-Fi module and firmware, or just the boot.img through fastboot? Also, do you have any app that may interfere with the Wi-Fi? Getting a reboot is one thing, but changing the MAC address is VERY strange.

Getting a reboot after switching on WiFi. After phone reboots WiFi works fine without any problems until turned off again. Switching off WiFi doesn't cause any problems only after switching WiFi on phone reboots.
Back to stock kernel - WiFi switches on without reboot.
If you look in z forum you will see there is a problem with the cyanogen WiFi module. In v13 it should be fixed so be patient until dbolivar have time to port v13 to zl.

I've installed the new kernel through my old recovery. And I can't think of an APP which could possibly interfere with WiFi.
One question. What are the most best improvements of this kernel? Much better than stock or only the modules like overclock and undervolt make dooms kernel? Convinced despite lose be engine?

I think there are major improvements over the stock kernel, specially if you use tools like Trickster Mod to adjust settings: more CPU and GPU governors to choose, overclock/underclock for CPU and GPU etc. This can give you better performance and/or better battery life. Check out the original thread at the Xperia Z forum (check OP) for a detailed description of all the improvements.

IT might work, but i suggest you dont do this as it may brick your XAS, but i am unsure
Im unsure about that but you can Ask any kernel dev
Technical Stuff
Well if the Rom Doesnt work then the kernel for your Acro S has to be edited for it to work)
how it boots
Power > Kernel Loads > kernel boots the boot path > ROM Loads
Or something like that (im unsure you will have to Ask Doomlord or ForzaFerrariLeo

First i can make EX SD support i know how
and i will find build.prop and a kernel so my question can i make
system folder apps and files work with acro s ? and ion ?
It works just fine.
it should work fine because hardware-wise XAS and XS are the same except for the external card
if you wanna learn more ask @deedwar, he first started out porting roms from XS to XAS but now he is building from source.he might have some advice for you
It works. I've done it already. I flashed some other things also but I can't make the sdcard to work.

Not for ion. The fw or ROM for XS wont work for Ion. But I know a way to make it work as I did it with few roms like eXistenZ.

PREAMBLE
As the title suggests, this is CM10 for locked bootloaders. Since many people doubt this works, I am NOT responsible for bricked devices, whining children whatsoever. I have tested this on my locked Xperia S and it works so good that I decided to use it as a daily driver.
This ROM is for all those who have got tired of Stock-based ROMs!
Oh, and please, do not post feature requests or bug reports here, use DevDB instead, thanks.
HOW IT WORKS
If you want to know how it works, go here and also don't forget to give kudos to letama.
WORKING/NOT WORKING
- UI freezes sometimes if one holds the homebutton pressed
- LED stays on (doesn't go on and off)

Someone with locked bootloader should try, but I think it should work. You need to flash it with Sony apps from somewhere, but all the prerequisites are there. And 12 MP camera and 1080p video recording, should work since this is based on 1.96 firmware, the kernel is the same.

BE has been impossible so far on CM because of the unlocked bootloader thing.

Hi I want to use the new release Kitkat 4.4 ROM for Xperia ION posted on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2590849
How can I install it if I have my bootloader locked @MrGezz @RaymanFX @Optimus @ARNOB @AshRoller
Please I want to use and test this ROM.
Thanks for your help.
Unfortunately you can't without the custom kernel which requires the bootloader to be unlocked.
Also, tagging the other devs and members for a common question is not a good thing
Hey this project has bin successful [MOD][UB][TESTERS NEEDED!] CyanogenMod 10 for locked bootloader [WIP][DEV]. is there anyone who could alter it for Xperia Ion users,
He also gave some instruction how to here.
Unfortunately i'm not knowledgeable on that aspect.
Could anyone help?
