I need to unroot my phone and get a replacement from a Verizon store tomorrow. Is there an unroot method available yet for the VS985?
Thanks in advance.

I tried using supersu to unroot but the software status still says 'modified'. Am I doing something wrong?
You need the tot file and the flash utility to flash the phone to stock..... There is a thread for the utility and you can google for the tot file

I have the D855 international, with v10f. It's rooted with PurpleDrake Lite. The phone has just downloaded a software update, which I have NOT installed. Can I install it? If I do install it:
- will I need to root again?
- will anything else be affected?

If you run the software update it will either work (and root will be maintained) or it will fail with a message that your phone is suspected of being rooted and boot back up unchanged. If it fails then you need to unroot first by flashing a KDZ of the version you are using in Normal Flash mode to retain your data/apps

Like the guy said a couple posts up.... Flash KDZ of whatever firmware you're currently on in Normal Mode.
Then try again[emoji16]

You can try this method first to lose root and update your device:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797190
If not, you can also follow this guide to flash your current .kdz file again and lose root like that.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2802286
If you want to find your current .kdz file, you can use this link:
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=IMEI HERE
You have to put in your IMEI after the "=". That will take you to a page with some info. Use the link next to "<sw_url>", copy it and that will start the download of your latest rom (in form of a .kdz file).
(Not sure if I pasted the links in the correct order, but the first one should be regarding the use of LG PC Suite and the second one about flashing .kdz files)

First of all, I do not take credit for any of this.
I rooted my LG G3 and then yesterday I accidentally installed the OTA (9/10/2014) from T-mobile and when the LG G3 rebooted I got stuck in the a TWRP boot loop.
I found the solution to this in the LG G2 Forum. I thought that somebody looking for a solution in this LG G3 Forum could benefit from all the trouble I went through until I found a solution
This is the link to follow the instructions

This one is better and you can install full ROM instead of OTA.

Thank you, I will give it try later. I was reading that the OTA update addressed (do not know if it means "improved") the wifi calling and also the auto brightness function:good:
The most noteworthy is the touchscreen sensitivity.
It's totally workable with glass plate.
The command line works well for me to get out of bootloop.
You can root using Stump Root, I got rooted right after new update

Stump root, it's literally an app that you install, and click root

Stump root (like cliff said) or towelroot.
Towelroot may not work on all models though. It did work on my D850 with firmware 10D.

Well, this is untethered root, so it doesn't have a root app, so I recommend installing supersu from the play store, and supersu has an option to unroot, but there is always the option to just flash back to stock using a tot file or kdz file and LG flash tool

Does flashing kdz file removes the root flag?? Also if I will "unlock bootloader" (TWRP/bump whatever...) is installing kdz file will make it all stock and undetectable?

Yes, it should do both of those things, I had to refresh to stock, and when I did, I had to resume as the recovery was overwriten

Well rooting is really easy if you want to use vroot. Just search for vroot or iroot (an .apk that runs on your phone without connecting to a PC.) After you're rooted, just search through twrp threads on how to flash a recovery and unlocking your bootloader. If your bootloader is locked, you will end up bricking your device so be careful and do your homework first. Good luck

Sorry it didn't work out for you. Keep searching threads and topics. There is a lot of support for the G3 on here. Wish I could be of more help to you, but sadly I only have the LG Intuition and there isn't any support for my device at all. If I come across something I will post it on here for you.

Not too long, if it is more that 10-15 mins, check your md5s.
Btw, 30e zips where filled in the same place, you can keep root if you root 30D, install twrp, then install new zips.
