CWM Questions - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I'm sure this a noob question but doing a clean install, what should you Format when using CWM. I've not been to get a down and dirty answer to this.
And is there anywhere that explains the different things you use CWM for. ie all the different format commands.
Thanks in advance

Usually a factory reset is all you need. Note that will delete your app/app data so a backup is quite useful.

Try flashing a diff ROM if it works then its the download if not then further troubleshooting is needed.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
definitely sounds like a bad download
This is actually the second rom I tried to flash.
First rom was miui and it said the something. I thought it was just a bad link.
Second rom was Tuesday and the problem reaccured.
I am beginning to think it's my phone.

hmmm got me beat.
you can try tdj's super wipe and wipe everything clean
you can try flashing a new CWM
try another ROM?
another microsd?
go back to stock and flash again?
if none of those works then yeah... don't know what to say. make sure to check the md5 to save yourself a lot of time
If you don't mind explaining, what's. Md5?

yup. not from any folders.
oh sorry didn't see this post, but basically the MD5 checksum allows us to check if the file we downloaded exactly matches the original file
example (not real obviously)
Thursday ROM has a MD5 of 1234abcde
but what you downloaded has 2234abcde
that means you have a bad download. there is probably a couple bytes different in your download.
like both files can both be 300.1MB
but they might actually be 300.12 and yours is 300.10
THATS why md5 saves us a lot of time
NOT all md5 are listed, but thats the gist of it.
oh and remember your SDCARD card is
sdcard/external_sd/
That's the thing I tried a couple of roms and they all failed. So I'm pretty sure it's my phone.
In this case scenario what should I do to re root my phone. I know there's a couple different ways such as unrooting to sell.
So which method should I approach?
Thanks for all your help btw!

You don't need to Reroot, rooting is just superuser.. it just sounds like you need to get a new recovery that's all. You're already rooted right?
then just download Rom manager and reflash the CWM recovery in there.
Yes i am rooted. Can you link me to a site where I can dl a rom manager?

Installing a different custom ROM...

Hello all,
So I'm running Scott's CleanROM AT&T SE 1.5. I want to install the latest version of CleanROM ACE onto my phone now.
This was my first custom ROM install, so I've never switched ROMs like this before. My question is do I need to do anything special to flash ACE, or can I just do it through TWRP like I did last time (from stock to CleanROM)?
Any help is appreciated!

You do it through twrp like you did before. You will need to backup anything you don't wanna lose. I use titanium backup to backup my apps, apps data and texts. You will need to clean flash coming from what you are.

Read the OP (Original Post) for the directions on how you should flash the rom. Read read read.
Clean flash means clearing all data of previous rom. You wipe cache, wipe data, and wipe dalvik in recovery.

Download the updated cleanrom to your external sd card
Boot into recovery and do a nand backup
Wipe cache, dalvik cache, and data 3 times each (its easy if you go under "advanced" tab in wipe and it let's you select all 3 to wipe at once, then do that 3 times)
Click on install tab and navigate to the rom zip and flash away.
You shod be in familiar waters now.

Installing Linaro 10.2

I know this shouldn't necessarily be in this section but I've already PM'd someone and asked on the original thread for help and have gotten no response yet. I understand people may be busy though too. At any rate, can anyone give and exact instructions on how to flash this ROM? They're not in the ROMs OP so...yeah, I'm lost.

I would do a factory reset in TWRP then go to advanced and wipe system. Flash ROM, flash gapps wipe cache and dalvik one last time the reboot.

Use same fresh install method listed in any of my rom threads... I'm not sure about restoring messages I never do it but system data is usually a no no if you have issues with titanium download super su update your binary with the recovery method then go into titanium preferences and click the back up folder location option and change it from sdcard0 to legacy it will ask you if you want to move your back ups say yes then restart titanium and world will be right again

Uninstalling CyanogenMod Galaxy S4 T Mobile

Hello, I recently installed Cynagon Mod with the installer just to try it out and, as much as i like it, I liked Wicked more... I was wondering if someone knew the step by step on how to remove it. I looked around but it seems that there's no instructions for Tmo version of S4. I know that it might be the same as other versions but I just want to be sure and not mess up my phone again.
Thank you in advance,
Ghhostt

Backing up with recovery will backup allllll of the data from that ROM. It might cause some things to force close in the older version ROM but then again it may not. It will also put unneed data onto your phone if the app isnt installed
