Hi I'm on the vs985 and rooted using ioroot and I was wondering if that also installs a custom recovery because when I go into ROM manager it says twrp is installed but I can only boot into stock recovery how do I get it so I can boot into twrp or hasn't there been a custom recovery made yet for the vs985 and if there has can someone point me in that direction
Thanks Rob

Hi, I was wondering if you can root M8 by just installing the appropriate zip via booted custom recovery or do you need to flash custom recovery for this to work? I was just hoping to keep the phone as stock as possible for a while (getting the phone tomorrow I hope).

Ok to install a supersu zip you got to have a custom recovery. It won't work with stock recovery. After you flashed and updated it, you could flash a stock recovery again and will nevertheless sta rooted.

You might get away with that, yeah.
You might also want to install the kernel module that makes system partition writable.
I can't flash clockworkmod recovery provided on that page. I install the .apk then flash recovery and then reboot recovery but it just does a normal reboot. I saw there is TWRP recovery. Can I flash the ROM through TWRP? I asked on the ROM page but nobody told me a solution. Does someone have a clue why I can't flash clockworkmod recovery or if I can flash it through TWRP recovery?
Would be helpful to give some information as Most variants have a locked boot loader and can't install a recovery.

yes.
maybe you remove the permission for recovery installer from supersu app and grant new permission when you install recovery?!
S3v3n mod is for d855 running 10h stock only.
You need first to root device using purple drake lite, then install CWM IPK and then run it from same IPK,then having s3v3n mod on Device storage, select install zip, aroma installer starts you select options and install.

TWRP Manager. Can't get much easier than that...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jmz.soft.twrpmanager&hl=en
Hello, I have the T-Mobile LG G3 D851 and I've been trying to find the best configuration. I came from a Nexus 5 that I would either run stock 5.x or CM 12. The CM12 for LG G3 is great but it doesn't have a good camera.
Anyway, I've come to enjoy the stock firmware that LG puts on these phones. So here's what I want to accomplish, however I feel I cannot find enough information to do it confidently.
I would like the have TWRP installed with Stock Lollipop 20b, with root.
Can I just bump a TWRP image and use flashify or something to flash it? or dd?
I installed the 20b KDZ and rooted using the one click method, and that's how my phone sits currently.
From what I understand I need to downgrade to do something with the boot.img so that I can manually flash 20b with a bumped recovery? I'm not sure what bump really is entirely. Do I need to bump all TWRP images that I install? If bump is required for the G3, do they not come pre bumped?
I know that my first go around, I had flashed TWRP with flashify, then installed CM12 without any issues. So I'm wondering if this is just for stock ROMs or did they do something to the boot in 20b that would stop anything from installing without being bump'd?
I also noticed most of the bump'd threads don't list the d851 so I'm wondering if T-Mobile doesn't require this?
Keep in mind I've searched and read extensively and cannot come up with a clear picture of what to do. I've become too used to Nexus devices it seems :-\

D851 has unlocked bootloader. You don't need bump. Just flash twrp via trwo manager or get the inage and use flashify.

hi, i have recently updated my htc desire eye international version. but i really wanna root it. but i cannot find any good way to do that. there are some pre rooted roms but im not sure if they are ok to flash. and if they are ok, how am i gonna flash them? please help!
You just need to flash TWRP recovery, and then, in recovery flash SuperSu zip from this link
https://download.chainfire.eu/696/supersu/
gets stuck in while entering recovery mode
I have unlocked bootloader and flashed twrp by windroid toolkit. now, when I press recovery, it shows "entering recovery mode" and hangs there. what did do wrong?

Don't know... but honestly I've never tried windroid, so, maybe you should try to manually flash twrp?
It's not so hard, just google it
