Hey guys how can i update my att nitro hd without root to official ics 4.0.4.I dont want the leaked one only the official one.Is it worth to update to ics,is it faster, has it better benchmark score, is it smoother in the browser and is it better in video playback because some mp4s lag on my nitro hd on gingerbread. And is there anyway that i would brick my device or have any issues with it?Will i be able to go back to GB after update?Thank you very much for the help.Sorry if theese are noob questions.
Hey whats up. All you need to do is go to lg web site and dl the mobile tool.
Dont worry about drivers the tool has a tab feature to do this. Make sure youdo have the drivers installed.
Run the tool ...voila ics
I decided to wait for an official release root method. Too many times leaks have instsbility and issues.
I can wait for root im sure itll happen though i may resort tobtrying manual root. Which is not too big a deal.
Ics is ....awesome! Love it .
Do want root though .
Note: one clicks DO NOT work on the lg ics release.
If you want to go back to gb i believe this is possible via the unbrick method.

Thanks alot i just have a question what would happen if my computer would turn off or internet would stop what would happen with the process?
Worst case scenario, you have to go through the unbricking guide. LG's update tool won't touch the download mode, so you'll be able to recover your phone if the worst happens.

This was common for my g2x version 3(3rd one)while flashing and sometimes powering up phone would just shut down.
Gosh i miss my little toaster with a screen...
Just pull the battery restart the software on the pc and start over.
Should really wait for a more difinitive answer as i am a newb with the nitro.

The official update process is not too complicated. Follow these instructions: http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/ATT_Update/index.jsp
After you're finished, make sure that you turn the phone completely off, hold down the volume down and power buttons for about 5-10 seconds. Let go when the text appears that asks if you want to perform a factory reset. Then press the power button twice to confirm the factory reset. This will solve LOTS of problems that people have with the official ICS.
After that you should be good to go.

I don't know how long it takes since I've never installed it. But the update file is about 400MB so it'll take quite a while to download for you.
Dude.
All you need to do is get the lg tool.
Click the link drumist posted or go to lg.com and navigate to the download page for the mobil update tool.
Download and install tool
Update or install drivers
Turn your phone on to pc mode
Plug in phone
Lg tool will prompt to click your device: p930 or whatever the nitro hd is.
You DO NOT need to factory reset as these kinds of updates do that for you.
So if you are on a stock rom just activate tool and go.
Yes it cant hurt to factory reset from recovery but unecesary imo for you.
The whole process is up to 15 min but it took me only 7 min total.
Shouldnt be more than ten.
Hope this clarifies.

You'd think LG would be smart enough to do that, but the tool actually DOES NOT clear your data partition. Many people have reported this. You will still have apps installed from before you did the update, even though you came from a different version of Android.
You definitely have to do a factory reset yourself if you want to avoid having problems.
It may be the case that the tool is supposed to clear the data partition but fails in some circumstances. I don't know.
Did it clear your data partition when you installed it?
would it work the same way after update?
meaning factory wipe after update installed?
Im sure you're right about that, wouldnt surprise me at all with lg.

As far as I know.
I'm basing this just on what everyone's been saying on this forum. I never installed the ICS update on my phone and don't intend to since I want CWM.
Do I have to do a factory reset after the update or before the update?

Do it after, and you don't need root to install this. This is LG's official method for updating to the new ROM.
After installing ICS my P935 now resets randomly, seems to do it most when trying to install apps from the Google Play store and when I make settings changes. I don't have an SD card installed if that makes any difference.
Did you do a factory data reset when you updated?
Sent from my LG-P935 using xda app-developers app
It's been doin the same for me (Telus P935), I also did a factory reset and it was still doing it so I took out the SDcard, swapped SDcards, etc. But it hasn't done it today yet.
Well I went to Telus and sent it in to see if they can repair or replace it, it rebooted again today and it then got very hot but when I pulled the battery and booted it up again, the graphics was all messed up and the colors were off, perhaps some damage to the GPU. I had no problems with this before updating to ICS... I wonder because I looked around the net and a few people are having problems too.
funny I have no problems. upgrade was flawless.

I have also had problems with my nitro rebooting a few times a day ever since installing ICS.
I think reboots and other things are not problem of installing Android 4
I've also had this problem, except with my bell optimus Lte, and its quite annoying as it randomly happens while I'm doing something with my phone.
Sent from my LG-P930 using xda app-developers app
I have the same problem, try a hard reset, but the problem remains ...
Someone solved it? or how to do a factory reset to uninstall ICS?
There's no solution for this problem. And if you will flash another rom or another official software, no matter GB or ICS , the problem will stay. I don't know what happens, but updating creates some error, possibly in hardware.
And you know, I am really disappointed with that. I had tried every rom, and all kdz software, downclocking, disabling tons of functions & options. Nothing prevents reboots. It freezes for a while and then reboots. In some roms it can shuts off instead of reboot. And that's it. The last chance I think is jtagg reflashing.

I had same random reboot & sleep death problem after performing unbrick.
I tried several times of unbricking to correct this and installed GB & ICS, almost every CWM Rom without sucess.
Finally, I tried v18f.exe version when my phone was in download mode.
After that, I havn't had any single reboot or sleep death. I'm currently using v20c without CWM.
What I did was:
1.Install V18f leaked version in download mode.
2.Root with TPSparkyRoot_ICS
3. you can stay with v18f if you like, but I prefer to go v20c using "dd if sdcard boot.img .....method.." with v20c img file.
In my opinion, unbricking with korean rom may have some compatibility problems in some area besides boot, recovery, firmware, band, system partitions at least in my phone.
Becasue before I perform unbrick with korean rom, I never had reboot or death problem with Ho-no bell rom, kernelpan1c, cm9 and p936 rom.
Anyway, after install v18f.exe, my phone is perfectly okay.
I hope this help some of you suffering from random reboot.

When I upgraded my P935 to ICS the official way, the rebooting started.
Got annoyed and went through the (incredibly painful for me) unbricking process with the Korean ROM. Still rebooted.
Went to CM 10 nightlies. Still rebooted.
Went to CM 9.1 stable. Still rebooted.
Flashed the Bell v11a baseband from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1842763 . No more reboots!

You are right dude. I also had frequent reboot issue with ICS Roms. Then, I put the phone in download mode and installed v18f(exe). Amazingly, the phone is super stable now. Thanks a lot for sharing the info. Just a question : can I now flash CM10 over this? will it cause reboot?

Sorry, my apologies, I forgot how uninformative the stock display is.
You can get at what I was looking for by installing "System Panel Lite" (free) and looking under "Dev Info," and then the entry under "Fingerprint."
However, skip that and perhaps just go ahead and re-flash the baseband. I don't think it can hurt. Druminst has posted zips that install the basebands with ClockWorkMod at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30451467&postcount=1 You have to go to his "more extensive list" to get to the baseband_flashable_P930_ATT_V18f.zip file.

Well, I will try.
So I believe I updated to the latest firmware update the other day for 4.1.2. The issue im having is when I go to the about device option and click software update it shows "continue update" greyed out so im not able to click. When I click "check for updates" I always get the same message " software update interrupted". I have tried to run this update on wifi and 4g both unsuccessful. I have attempted to factory reset my phone ...no go. Can some please suggest anything that will resolve this issue i'm having.

Try manually setting the time on your phone ahead by 24 to 48 hours. This may trigger the phone to complete the update. Are you running complete stock firmware? That includes android OS, kernel, modem, and recovery.

From Settings>>About Device do baseband and build still show as MC3? Is kernel dated something prior to August 2013 (I think MC3 was April 2013)? (can you post a screenie?)
Have you made any customizations to your phone - i.e. build.prop tweaks, debloating, freezing of apps, removal of system apps, anything else that might have modified the /system partition? Any of this would cause the OTA process to abort and stall like you have seen.

I haven't made in any customizations. I did have the s4 voice.apk installed at some point in time, but I uninstalled it. its possible I could have deleted a system app unintentionally, but I don't recall doing so.

If you are running the stock recovery, try downloading the CWM package I posted here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449972
Download to your PC and copy to your internal sdcard (the one that shows up as "phone"). Power off phone then boot recovery via home+vol up+power
Then use the side load option to run the CWM zip. If all goes well and your system partition is pure this will update your system, kernel, and modem to MH3. Upon phone boot, your recovery will update to MH3.

Fair point - if you are running a custom recovery, follow the steps above, but run the CWM zip file as you would any other CWM zip from a custom recovery... but from your prior responses, I'm guessing you are running stock recovery and the update process just got confused somewhere... perhaps because one of the stock apps was deleted.
Pay attention when the CWM zip is running.. if it fails you will get an error message showing the file it fails on. I may be able to help you further from there - assuming it's only a file or two that has an issue.

So after months and months of trying to update my phone to I317UCAMH3 I finally got my phone to update to what is now 4.3. Like many of you I tried everything I know how to such as:
-Reverting my phone to 4.1.1 and updating to 4.12 on Kies. same issue
-Resetting the flash counter after performing a data wipe....same issue
-Master reset....same issue
-Going to the Samsung service center and receiving the dumbest answer ever they told me my "cookies" preventing my phone from updating. (biggest idiots ever LOL)
So I was finally able to resolve this issue and receive my updates by switch my wife's sim card from her S3 to my phone and it worked like a charm. So my recommendation is if your having this issue it's more than likely occurring because of a faulty sim card and if you are unable to switch with another phone then go to the ATT store and they will give you a free one. Please let me know if this works for you.

I have an AT&T Note 2 and is unlocked as I moved to Canada. My new carrier is Telus and until recently, around the same time as the KitKat, my great reception went bad. I've confirmed that it is not a hardware issue and appears to be related to updating my phone. For whatever reason I can't update the software on my phone. Kies is of no use and I don't have access to an AT&T sim card to try the new solution. I've tried the hard reset.
I've never rooted the phone and recently reset the phone to resolve the issues. Does anyone have any suggestions?
The version on my phone is I317UCAMA4 and 4.1.2.

Not sure what the same time as KitKat means...
But you can try this. Updates to 4.3 and modem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2589891
It does not change the bootloader.
I pulled out my G Pad 8.3 GPE a few days ago after it had been in a suitcase for a couple of weeks and as one might expect the battery was dead. I plugged it in and let it charge for a bit before turning it on; much to my excitement I saw the toast notification that a system update was available for 5.0 Lollipop. With the battery only at 2% at the time of the notification I decided to put the update off until the battery was charged.
Well now that the battery has been fully charged and everything is working as usual, the update has disappeared and every time I go to settings->about phone->system update and force it to check for update it just says that my system is up to date when I am clearly still on 4.4.4.
How can I get the OTA update to 5.0? Did I miss it somehow?
Hi, you can download the update from this post and side load it using the stock recovery. Just Google "sideload OTA Android update and you should find instructions,it is the same as Nexus devices. Just make sure your device is completely stock, no root, stock recovery and kernel or it won't work.

Thanks for the info. I was trying to avoid rooting/sideloading etc as I have not felt the need to do much to this device since it is on stock android, but if this is the only way, then so be it.
Thanks for again!
Side loading an update does not require your tablet to be rooted. It is just another way of pushing the official update. It should not cause you any long term issues

Hey guys,
My friend installed the new lollipop ota and his phone doesn't start normally anymore.
He says that some failure reports show up and that he might report the error/failure.
He has no rooted phone or something like that. He never tried.
What can he do? Ota installing manually from original recovery or such things like that?
Thanks guys

Send it for repairs. It is less than a year old and if he never rooted it is defective and his warranty is still good.

Yes, I think this is a Problem for Warrenty.
Try this first. Yesterday i resolved the problem by my self.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/bootl-loop-lollipop-update-t3016142
BUT TRY WARRENTY FIRST.
Phone gives error reports when booted Help i don't know if I have the same problem but my HTC One m8 went ballistic after I tried to install lollipop. For reference I have a sprint (unconnected) Htc One m8 Harmon Karman edition with Ł launcher as a launcher. I went to settings and found an update. The update download and then installed. When the phone went to boot it booted then instead of taking me to the home screen, it took me to a white page with a loop of error reports of apps not working. I can't get into the phone at all. I tried to boot in recovery but that did nothing. Please help I'm desperate.
