As far as i know is we can only change dpi to increase font size and need rooted device.

Go to settings > accessibility > vision > font size (change to desire size). No need to root.
I went the other way and changed the DPI because everything was too large on Tiny... Still not happy with how big the notification window is - I wish I could change just the font size of it, but I'd have to do SystemUI and using 160 will get me the right text size, but I won't be able to control it with my fingers...
I use an app called Font Size.

This is perfect but it requires root access. Since my first attempt at rooting my new T707A with CF-Autoroot ended with a trip to the AT&T store for a replacement tablet, I'm a bit gunshy to try that again.

textdroider dpi app in Playstore (need root)
This is the Font Size app I use on my unrooted Tab S. It is no longer available on the playstore - who knows why? - but seems to work just fine. My apologies to the developer if I have violated some sharing/uploading rule.

It works great on the system fonts but has no effect on fonts inside the app. For example, I have a GPS app and I want to make the directions larger (I drive a big truck for a living and the tab is arms length away. It needs to be at standard reading distance to be read easily while driving). So far the only solution seems to be to lower the screen resolution and thats impossible without rooting as far as I can tell.
Still nothing for the T707A?

Looks like the only solution is to swap tablets with my wife and use her old Acer transformer.

I also have the 8.4 and have discovered the difficulties of finding apps properly coded for this size. But I have found a few things that have made it pretty manageable under most circumstances:
Use Big Font - it is presently available in the Play Store and it works well.
I've searched for browsers that do three things: good reflow, move easily between mobile and desktop site, and....one browser that allows for a change of font size on a pull out menu, which it then remembers! None of these browsers are perfect in that all seem to sometimes lag etc., but you can read them.
Yandex Browser (install the browser only). This has excellent reflow and allows change between desktop and mobile sites. Some sites allow for font size change more easily in one mode and some in the other. It doesn't seem to load as quickly as Atlas.
Atlas Browser (purchase the Plus Key version). This has a pull out from the right which allows for default settings (mobile/desktop), (hi-fi, low-fi, text), and then, under advanced options, you can adjust the text size by %. It says it remembers settings for each site and it seems to do so for most. The only problem I have with Atlas is that sometimes it freezes and I don't know why. But it's still my go to browser most of the time. When you first start, it loads "processes" which can be annoying. However, sometimes you can just say "skip" and it will manage to load as it goes. It's only slow the first time during the session during which you're using it.
Firefox The newest version shows hope and is not as slow to load pages.
I don't use the stock browser because I haven't been able to get a readable size font AND get it to reflow. If anyone knows how to get the stock browser to reflow, please let me know.
I use these browsers in place of separate apps for Facebook, Amazon etc. And I do this because I have better control over readability.
Hope this provides some options.

Sorry for replying to myself BUT hooray doing the same thing over expecting a different result worked. Well almost. In Xposed/App Settings/Facebook I set Font Scale = 200 and Screen (dp) 480x854. THEN SAVE, CLOSE ALL AND REBOOT. I have BIG font :fingers-crossed:
The FB icons are still tiny but we have progress. Thank you XDA & Google.

Just now I applied a trick to have more info on my screen by changing the dpi setting. To to so in /system/build.prop modify the following line:

ro.sf.lcd_density=240
I changed it to 200. After modifying the settings in Launcher Pro I now have 6 rows and 5 columns in my homescreens which still have enough space in between.
You need root access to change system files. The file manager also needs to have root access. I used Super Manager for this.
I got this hack from doid-life. They also give an alternative way using adb.
You can also alter the build.prop by installing the PropEditor-0.3.apk from the following link;

This way all 14 wifi channels are available (also in 3G mobile hotspot) and the phone scans every 90 seconds for new wifi networks instead of the default 45 seconds. As I always have wifi on that saves some battery.
Ok this is weird. I just discovered that anything else than 240 dpi renders the dialer unusable. Sometimes it opens to only close again a split second later. Pitty because I really like the lower dpi setting. Back at 240 dpi it feels like a phone for the vision impaired.
Can i ask how exactly are the changes brought to dpi adjust?

I started changing screen density with my HD2 when they only had android from sd card. Basically lower number means "higher definition" and you can fit more things on the screen.
so waht does having 14 channels for WIFI do?
When I change the pixel density, I get FC when opening „phone„. I am using Pay's ROM.

It allows people to connect to broadcasts on all possible WiFi channels around the world.
So North Americans who might be originally limited to 1-11 (is the NA device locked to this though?) won't miss out on the odd coffee shop hotspot overseas that broadcasts on 13.

Try to download spare parts from the market (if its not in that rom already) and uncheck compatibility mode and restart your phone. might work.

Yeah, i was thinking about it too. It's the fiest our app we add adv layers. It's still there are no ads or aur pushes. May be we have to reduce more apps visibility. Thanks!

Yeah love that no adds is present.sorry i didn't mentioned that before.
Maybe move the social links to option menu and decrease purchase link and place it on top.shouldn't be to difficult to do and will add a more "clean" look to the app..
Edittherwise its a rather cool concept for those who want to personalize their look of the background/wallpaper

Do you still have premium content reminder and baskets? Actually, it works thru Google Play market application. I just ask Google Play for all user payments. Usually if you get connected to internet at least once a day it works fine.

I wish i can but i care much more about usability. There is no a lof of screen space to do this. And actually 'more apps' icon already placed on icons bar under preview (4th icon).

The following issues just resolved:
#1 Fixed constant crashes of settings in android wallpaper picker in Coloring Screen
#2 Fixed error with 'purchase all' resulting in -50% adv. layer appear again and premium features settings dissapear
#3 Fixed an important error leading to constant crashes on some devices (including Galaxy S, Galaxy S2, Galaxy Infuse 4g and more)
Update will be available in several hours.

Sorry for that, but we do not actually process payments. Is Google Play's job. I think its not a problem, did you try to buy it? Dollars should be converted automatically to euros.

Finaly i bought Coloring Weather Screen. It's very good LWP. Battery consumption is really really low, and the effects are really cool.
What i would like to see in a future version if you please :
setting for the delay between weather update.
shortcuts on the desktop to switch between mode.
maybe some more default wallpapers (if this don't impact too much size of the apk)

Has someone here the same problem like me? Every time if I open whatsapp/+ the resolution changes. Also if I change between chats, it gets every time smaller and smaller. It looks like it goes on tablet mode. If I delete my ram and start whatsapp again, it gets normal but than after a close or a switch of the chats, it gets again smaller. This Problem is on whatsapp+ now. On Stock whatsapp I haven't this problem, but there is also a resolution problem. like if I press menu button, the menu window is only on the half the other part is gone. I will post some screens tomorrow. Let me know if you have the same experience like me.

Try installing xposed framework and then installing the AppSettings module, or it was called something similar. There you can set specific pixel density/resolution for Whatsapp. That way I fixed similar problems with Flipboard on my chinese tab.

Hi, i recently updated to 4.4.2. KK (I went pristine as well) but when I reinstalled WhatsApp it looked different AND I can't send mp3 files anymore! Any idea on why?

Thx man! That fixed the half problem. It's much better now. If I change the screen (dp), the resolution jumping is still there. Only if I change the DPI, the resolution stay fixed. The DPI on the Ascend P6 is 312, if change it to 312, its all to small (very small) and the background wallpaper does no match. I've changed now to 349 DPI, this looks perfekt for me.
The first picture is with the Appsettings mod, the DPI is 349. You can see, the menu is lost in the edge.
The second picture is stock whatsapp+ with a theme. The last picture is also stock whatsapp+ with a theme, but here I've changed the chat after I made the second screenshot.
Did anyone notice that with the resolution so high, some apps (words with friends for example) defaults to landscape view whereas on my older note 8.0, it would display in portorait. I think this is because the app thinks the tablet has a larger screen.
Thoughts?

This will get adjusted as soon as the app developers can adjust their apps to the resolution of the screen because it's not the same resolution as other tablets.
Guys do you know, will I be able to install third party apps from outside of market (for example buy putting them on my sd card) or knox will stop me of doing so?
This drives me bonkers on my note 10.1. I have reputation off yet so many open up landscape mode.

for the rotation: I highly recommend set orientation, it's free and lets you do truly full auto-rotation (ie, want Flipboard in phone mode to rotate? It'll let you) and will also let you lock orientation.
Also, for folks with root, take a look at installing Xposed followed by app settings. I use it mostly for dialing up size on apps that display ridiculously small fonts on the high resolution devices, but it has orientation settings that can be configured on a per-app basis and may help wth apps starting up in orientations that you don't want.
I was tired of the camera not working properly when using a custom DPI. I made an app which lets you change it without reboot (especially nice for ART as rebooting takes 5 minutes or so for me).
Just put it in /system/priv-app and set the permissions to rw,r--,r--.
Let me know if you have any questions.

It's everything. I was thinking of possibly maming a version later on that monitors tge running app to change dynamically though.
So now that I did this, how does one undo this? Even if I change build.prop your app takes priority..I want to know for when we get app settings and then I can have build.properties set to 500 and this set to 640 and then remove and boom happy xD thank you though, works like a charm!

Thanks for making this much needed MOD/APP ... but I don't really get how to use it though. Do I just put a custom DPI (for example 540) in the box? But if I do that, the whole ROM will change to that DPI. How do I change specific apps into a desired DPI, and everything to a different DPI ?
