Hi
I'm about to buy it, at least as soon as it's available.
Is there already a topic about it?
Compare to the HTC One E8, this one has everything like the M8.
Thanks

Just watch the LTE bands that the M8 dual SIM supports - make sure it does the bands you need. Some specificatiosn say it does 800MHz LTE, but a lot of reports say it only does 1800 MHZ & 2600MHz LTE FDD

Hey Guys,
So I was trying to think, but I couldn't remember which carrier it was, but I'm almost positive that one of the Australian carriers uses the same 3g bands (HSDPA 850 and 1900) that AT&T uses, meaning you could import one of the phones heading toward that carrier in australia and use it on AT&T. I was thinking about doing this for WP7, but i completely forgot what carrier it is.
Does anyone know?
Telstra.
I've used a Telstra-branded HD2 and Desire (Android) on AT&T in the US, no problem.
I'm hoping Telstra picks up the Desire HD and the HD7 as well...because AT&T's WP7 phones are kinda sorry (nothing > 3.8").
It's Telstra. Only the 850 band is supported. I have an Australian 9193 HD2 and it works fine on At&t. I guess it depends if your area has 850 band nearby.
FYI their HD7 won't be out till next year.

Are you guys sure? I was looking at the Mozart page on Telstra and it's doesn't say that the 850 hsdpa band is supported.

Thanks! HTC & Microsoft must be using the global specs. So basically what this means is Mozart and HD7 for AT&T!! I'm pumped as hell now
Will hopefully have a Telstra one in the next week or two, will confirm when I have it.

Which one are you getting? The Mozart? I'm stuck between the Surround directly from AT&T or waiting for the HD7 on Telstra. I just have no idea when it's actually going to come out...

I'm having this same predicament also. Though I can afford it, getting an HD7 through telstra will be around $800 or more...whereas I could just get the surround for retail value since I am not extending my contract with ATT.
I have my Mozart
WP7 is very different there is no way, that I can find, to look at the band it is using.
It is very fast and I'm liking it.

It can only use the 850mhz band and 2100mhz. If you want NextG you'll need the 850mhz band (AT&T's). I can guarantee the Telstra HTC Mozart uses that.
Any updates on HD7 on At&t? Perhaps an unbranded one or tmobile. Data and 3g?

Above is 100% true
850MHz & 2100MHz at minimum.
Optus uses 900MHz and 2100MHz
Unsure about the other carriers, but its likely 900/2100 also (i think Telstra is the odd one out here)
Sorry for revive the old thead; buy if someone is looking for a at&t-compatible device, (with UMTS850/1900), more than at&t "native" devices; please check:

I think this might be a stupid question, but I've done a bit of searching and couldn't find a clear answer so thought I'd ask here.
Is the HOX a quad-band device and will it work in Australia?
If anyone knows where it won't work too, that'd be really helpful!
Thank you!
I think it depends on which carrier you're with as they run on different frequencies. Call the carriers up and check whether your phone can pick up their frequencies. I'm pretty sure quad band phones can work pretty much anywhere, but it's always worth checking!

If you are talking about Quad-GSM..then yes the One X will work in Australia (my HOX is from Malaysia and works here no problems) and pretty much anywhere else in the world.
This is the GSM bands that the One X has (info from GSMArena)
2G Network: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network: HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
If you are asking about LTE/4G? the One X is not 4G compatible...you will need to get the One XL for that (The One X I beleive couldn't run 4G due to hard incompatiblies which is why the OneXL runs a dual-core krait processor and Adreno 225 graphics but still has the same goodies as the One X) Also for us...you can only get it on Telstra (since Vodafone and Optus haven't begun rolling out their 4G network yet.
Hope that answers your question
Can anyone give me some clarity as to what LTE Bands the Unlocked LTE USA Version of M8 supports?
Is it the same as the Developers versoin?
I cannot get a clear answer from HTC Tech support.... its unbelievable.
I work in Europe/Germany alot and am trying to find out if it will work there...
Or can someone run this CID checker against their unlocked USA edition?

thanks!

From what I understand, yes. My understanding, the only difference between Unlocked and Dev Edition, is that the latter comes bootloader unlocked.
Whether the device works on LTE in Germany is a difficult question to answer. It seems that the more recent firmwares support more bands than the specs would suggest.
heres the lastest answer from HTC if anyone cares:
the LTE bands of Unlocked US version of HTC One M8 is 1900/2100 MHz.
though i have gotten 2 other answers before so who really knows.

I don't think that the info is correct. That is missing 3 of the 4 bands needed to make the phone work on AT&T in all markets (850. 700 & 1700); as well as missing 2 of the 3 needed on T-Mobile (700 and 1700).
Exactly... How does no one at HTC know this? I will email them back

I have found the info via android central:
http://www.androidcentral.com/developer-and-unlocked-htc-one-m8-ready-order
And speaking of networks, HTC has confirmed to us that the developer and unlocked versions are based off the AT&T SKU, meaning the bands line up in the following manner:
•2G: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
•3G WCDMA: 850/1900/2100 MHz with HSPA+ up to 21 Mbps
•4G LTE: 700/850/AWS/1800/1900/2600 MHz
Finally got it figured out.
Hi folks of XDA! I have a quick question for anyone who knows their 3G/4G/LTE band connections!
So before going straight into the question I feel like it's necessary for me to give you some background information... I currently have an iPhone 6 (as my HTC One X broke late last year) and I'm definitely planning to switch back to Android. More specifically, I want to purchase an HTC One M9 unlocked/developer edition. Unfortunately I don't believe HTC will be selling an unlocked/developer edition for Canada (as they have not done this for the M8) so I was wondering if I can buy a USA unlocked/developer edition of the HTC M9 and it would be compatible with Fido's 3G/4G/LTE bands?
According to Fido's website, "Your device must be compatible with the Fido network, which uses GSM, UMTS, HSPA and HSPA+ at 850 MHz and 1900 MHz. To access LTE network, the phone must be compatible with: 700 MHz on Band 17; | 1700/2100 MHz on Band 4; | 2600 MHz on Band 7.
I did a little digging and HTC USA's twitter, states that, "The HTC One M9 - Developer and Unlocked utilizes LTE bands: 700/850/AWS/1800/1900/2300/2600(B12/B17/B29/B13/B5/B4/B3/B2/B30/B7)"
A Fido mod on the Fido forums states, "Fido's LTE network uses the 2100 and 2600 MHz frequencies (mostly 2600 MHz)" (So I'm guessing it'll work with Fido's 2600MHz) and from another user, they said, "You do need AWS to gain access to [Fido's] LTE network". (looks like the unlocked M9 have AWS)
So with all this information, I'm guessing the unlocked version of the M9 will be able to work due to it having 2600 MHz frequency and AWS? Will there be a problem with battery as different bands are being utilized? If I recall correctly, some tech reviewers on YouTube have used Korean phones in the past and they had really bad battery due to the phone keep trying to find "proper" 3G/4G/LTE bands but when they got ahold of a US model, battery life was far better.
tldr; unlocked M9 work for Fido 3G/4G/LTE? Difference in battery life? (explain if possible); ayylmao?
Also I don't want to purchase a Roger's HTC One M9 outright on day 1 as it'll still have bloatware and delay in updates... two things I do not like!
Fido uses 700, AWS, and 2600 for LTE, all of which the Dev edition supports.
So my presumption is that it'll work flawlessly with Fidos network with no battery issues.
My goal now is to get the unlocked version of the M9 to be shipped to Canada haha

No guarantees on the battery, but everything else will work fine. I just got my M9 Dev Edition for use on Bell (same freq. requirements as Fido).

If you live near Niagara, there are several places that only charge $5 to hold your package for pickup. There are also places you can use to forward the package to Canada when they receive it.

I live on the west coast and I have a friend who referred a company to me which will handle my package. Thanks for the heads up about the Bell network and your developer edition M9 . I might as well get the developer edition too as they both use the same bands and etc w/ the same price. Much appreciated for your quick replies!

Do you have a model number or link to be sure of what variant we are talking about?
Based on the following webpage 3 uses Band 3 (1800 MHz) for LTE: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks_in_Europe
And based on the following, the US unlocked M8 does not support LTE band 3: https://support.t-mobile.com/message/358933
So based on this, the US unlocked M8 will not receive 4G LTE on your carrier.
Band support can be changed in software. However, it requires s-off ($25 US by sunshine). And unless you are getting a really good deal on the US unlocked version, I normally suggest getting the variant that supports your carrier's bands out of the box; to avoid the small chance you aren't successful in modding the phone.

LTE 800, 1800 and 2600 MHz correspond to Bands 20, 3, and 38 respectively. The specs in the page you linked indicate that it doesn't support any of those LTE bands (supports Bands 17/4/2/5). Those specs also matched the linked I provided in my last post for the US unlocked version.
LTE won't work for you unless you modify the phone's software/firmware as I indicated in my last post.
OK great thanks for the info and response.
