Mine goes back to the lock screen. So that sounds like a serious issue to me.

I don't know how to fix this other than disabling the short cuts, but there must be a better way.

What is your lock delay set to? Maybe it's delaying the lock.. Change the lock timeout to immediately, then test it again.

I saw this posted somewhere, but can't seem to find it now.. someone had posted a code that you punch into the dialer to turn off power saver for WiFi, and speed up your WiFi a little. Does anyone know about this ? Thanks
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Perhaps you mean this?
1. Open up the Galaxy S3 phone dialer
2. Then dial *#0011#
3. Look for the “ServiceMode” screen and press the left menu button
4. Select “WiFi”
5. You should see that the “WiFi Power Save Mode” button is “ON” – now put it on “OFF”
6. You're done! Just exit the menu, switch off your WiFi, then switch it back on again. If your router details are saved and automatically connects, get your Galaxy S3 to forget or delete the network information. Then reconnect, putting in all the required information.

My app was having problem with running with an AP from where I download video to play. I tried the workaround on my S3 and my app worked fine. However, I cannot suggest my customers to do the same. I've tried to use the WIFI_FULL_HIGH_PERFORMANCE mode, and it really did not help me. Is there a way for me to disable the wifi power save mode programmatically?
How can i turn wifi power save mode on huawei phones? They don't have those options.

I too would like to know the difference as well. I'm going to assume it will drain your battery faster, but for what advantage?

Strange, but after doing this my screen will not auto shut off after the 15s timer. I do not have smart stay enabled and the phone is not pluged in.
I will switch it back and see what happens
BTW im running FreeGS3 R5

I had that too. Just reboot and it is fixed!
Any way to save the setting? If you reboot it reverts back to power saving "on" mode.

+1 Yep. A reboot fixed it for me too.
A reboot just reverts the settings. My phone was doing the same (screen staying on) until I rebooted the phone. I then checked the settings again and it had changed back.

Dont know what else to call it really but I know this is happening with all of our devices.. which is when the screen times out and u press home to wake it up it takes u back to default homescreen. The sgs3 doesnt react that way and ive had to get used to hitting the power button instead. Any ideas? This would be amazing and greatfully appreciated.

I can't replicate this issue. I let my screen timeout and pressed the home button and it simply turned the screen back on to where I left it.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
I've had it happen. You press he home button immediately after the screen goes black, and it wakes the screen up, but also takes out of what ever you are in and takes you to the home page. I've retrained myself not to go for the home button, but the power button.

Stock rooted. I tried it multiple times and the same thing happens, screen times out, I instantly press the home button and it turns the screen back on but keeps me on the web page, app, etc that I'm using.

This is really an issue, "immediately" hitting the home button when it goes to sleep? Why not just avoid letting it go to sleep or hit the power button? This seems like a non issue to me and I've never had it happen.
but my post does not help the OP so good luck with that, sorry for the editorial.
The point is my sgs2 gti9100, and sgs3 tmobile which both had physical buttons didnt react this way.. I find it to be strange.

Are you using stock LEAK ?
I think this is a Jellybean 4.1 issue. My Note 2 has the same problem, but my wife's Galaxy S3 didn't when she was on ICS. Last week the phone updated to JB and now the problem exists.
This is definitely related to Jelly bean but I'm not sure if it is strictly a Touchwiz Jelly bean issue. It happens when I removed S Voice from the home button double press. It happens on the S3 and when my Note II comes in I bet it will happen on there too.
There are a lot of people that noticed it and I even saw someone open an issue with Google, although I'm not sure it is entirely a Google issue.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=39326
The last line is the issue maybe.
"I want the single tap to be more snappy - for that I must disable s voice, but when I do it this bug raises its head. "
Do you guys have s voice disabled on the home button to save that lag time?
I disabled the s voice on the home button but still have the lag.

Now I've notice every time i hit the power button i can see it take its time to show my lock screen ?? This happening to anyone? Also the phone is very very fast just wondering why its doing it now? Thanks!

I have noticed this too. Sometimes it does it and some times it dont. Don't know if it's because we are rod or what. Thought about making it bout loop Judy to get another one and not rot it all ask to see if it does it on a stock note3 lol

I highly doubt that because I have run all types of ROMs and on any Samsung device when s voice is enabled there was always a lag. The note 2, the note 3, s3, s4. all of the forums have a thread just like this, and when 99 percent turn off s voice the lag goes way

Mine does it as well. Mine also does it when turning it off as well. Pressing the power button means waiting for a minimum 2 seconds for the phone to respond. I'm going to exchange mine since my original unit didn't have this problem. And no, its not any settings or apps causing this.
Mine doesn't do it, opens instantly every time whether I have widgets on or off but I don't have Voice unlock on.
Someone help me edit the commands for S-Voice. I'm looking to unlock the device with S-Voice, but can't see any options under ' Menu - Settings - Device - Lock screen ... ' I have enabled ' Wake up command ' and ' Voice Wake-up' under S -Voice Settings...
Where the heck do I find ' edit voice commands ' and ' lock screen options to add widgets ' ???
This is on my TMO [ stock, not rooted ] N3 ...
Help!
Hello all,
I have the AT&T Note 4 and when I first set the phone up, I was able to select a lockscreen effect. However, I can't seem to find where that setting is located, and I'm looking to change the effect. Is there any way of doing this short of wiping and restarting?
Thanks in advance,

It would seem that you do not get an unlock effect while using fingerprint unlock. As you are not swiping the screen

Huh, you're right! If the phone was unlocked, then I got the effect, but when it was prompting for the fingerprint, then I didn't get the effect. Temporarily switching to "Swipe" exposed the option to change the effect.
Thank you!
Your welcome!
