Guys I need help to resolve this...
I flashed Carbon rom yesterday and it worked well for a while.. But then once the phone rebooted after hanging and it went into a bootloop.. Unfortunately when i went into the bootloader with BACK+POWER i realized that both volume buttons are not working.. (prev only down vol wasnt working)
Now i cant enter recovery without volume buttons. I tried fastboot method for flashing a stable rom like cm7 but then realized that a custom ROM cant be flashed like that ...
What is a way out now ?? Do i need to flash the rom.zip from original RUU.exe through fastboot ??
if yes then do i need to flash the stock hboot first with large cache ??
and also how to get the correct RUU for your phone to prevent brick ??
Any help will be appreciated.
ps... I tried repairing volume buttons at a repair store.. They could not repair it.

I'm not sure if flashing the stock rom would help but you can try, so first flash the stock hboot from alpharev but the easy way you have to use the volume controls the other way you have to through fastboot usb using pc so you would have to look through the guide, u can flash the 2.3.3 ruu through pc but I think it will automatically make hboot stock.

Put recovery.img (4ext) inside ur fastboot folder on pc then boot ur phone into fastboot, then plug it into pc and open cammand window and type
fastboot boot recovery.img
That will boot u into recovery and u can flash a rom or nandroid backup if u have one.
ok thanks.. will try flashing a RUU. Thats m only hope now i guess..
I was wondering why cant custom roms be flashed through fastboot method ?? The phone checks for some android info file which has CID info i think.. Why cant this information be incorporated into a custom rom ??

Did u partition ur sdcard before flashing any rom?
I forgot to ask... but where to get 4ext recovery.img ???
I have partitioned my sd card a long time back when i first rooted the phone... Nothing new now.. I just flashed carbon kitkat rom like usual method.. it worked for a day and then after reboot went into a bootloop... I guess there is some kernel issue with that ROM.

How did u partition ur sdcard? Only 4ext recovery and gparted work properly. Heres a link for tutorial

Voila .. that worked like a charm
Thanks a ton friend.
I guess now that my volume buttons aint working I will have to rely on this method to get into recovery whenever there is a bootloop.. and ofcourse I have to hope that the back button keeps working.. If back button goes then it will be an end.

I decided to root my desire HD today,
I was on firmware 3.xx with sense 3 ... Stock Gingerbread.
I successfully downgraded to 1.24.405.1 with the help of RUU
then i managed to root my device following the wiki.cyanogenmod tutorial.
Booted up with the respective android 2.2 successfully even after the root.
Checked root access via Root checker Basic , it said i had correct root access.
How ever , after flashing the clockwork recovery mode , My cell phone has NOT been able to *reboot* properly
i.e when i switch it off , it does not give any response without me taking out the battery and putting it back again .
When i try to go into bootloader/recovery mode , it just gives me a blank black screen.
Please tell me what to do in such a situation , i tried re-running the same RUU , but it gave me an error.
Please forgive me if i have created a re-post.. understand that my situation right now isn't the best.
PLease advice me as to what i should do , i wish to flash CM 7.1 on it, or at least return back to proper stock as soon as possible .
P.S the cell works fine right now , after i have removed the battery & re inserted. It however does not reboot.
Please help me as soon as possible !

This page should have some details on how to install recovery via ADB. Not sure if it will help but it should. Try the FastBoot method.

Thank you for your reply,
For now i am reluctant to even switch off my cell phone
Is there any full proof method of solving this ??
If not then in that case i'll try this method.!

Do you mean you tried rebooting with holding down the volumeDown button and then pressing the power button?
When i shut down the DHD .. & press volume down + power, it did now go into clockworkMod.. instead it booted up fine .. into android 2.2
This probably happened because i deleted the rom manager before..i thought deleting it work also remove clockworkmod's unsuccessful recovery flash..!my bad
Also ,I wanted to ask, is it because of the buggy flash of clockworkmod recovery, that my phone does not boot up when i try to *reboot*...
Anyways, i tried the volume down & power button again , & it goes into the HTC bootloader/recovery.. which has the options of fastboot, etc .. Not the clockworkmod recovery, even though i have it installed(5.0.2.0) via rom manager
Sorry for such a long post =(

This is a very good idea, you can do so through ROM Manager. If that doesn't fix your problem, try reinstalling ROM from clockwork - don't use ROM Manager to flash ROMs.

When you boot up holding volume down and power it NOT suppose to boot into cwr. That is normal, its suppose to boot into the bootloader(white screen) from their you choose recovery to enter certain/4ext

Thank you for your kind suggestions,
I finally have a working clockworkMod Recovery,
I have to boot into bootloader, then recovery.
So right now i have backed up my ROM from clockworkMod recovery, and now preparing myself to install CM 7.1 from recovery menu itself.(after data-wipe etc)
I am safe right ? I have successfully backed up the phone(ROM) 2 times from clockwork mod recovery.
So now I can go ahead and flash CM 7.1 right ?
OH MY GOD !!!!
Now i know what the problem is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i flashed cm 7.1 successfully , still the reboot issue !
i returned to stock successfully by using the same RUU in fastboot mode... & amazingly .. SAME REBOOT ISSUE !
So now ive analysed , its the freaking wrong RUU version for my Indian desire HD
that is at fault !!!!!
So now , can any1 help me find a exploitable version ruu , so that I can flash to that version and start the rooting process again ??
If not Indian version , am i safe to put the 1.32.405.6 version RUU ??

I honestly dont think it has anything to do with the rom. Just reinstall recovery either through Rom Manager or using the link i gave to you earlier.
Solved ! =)
Downloaded proper version RUU..flashed via fastboot... solved reboot issue!
Then rooted again and put cyanogenmod 7.1
Thanks for the replies ppl =) !

As mindfreak62 stated this is indeed an issue rooted in some unpublished hardware revision to the WFS. There are a handful of users with the issue and it is presently under investigation here. There is currently no solution that will allow you to run a custom recovery and many ROMs have the same issue. Your best bet presently is to stick with stock firmware until the issue is resolved. You can get back to this state by flashing your device with an RUU.

What recovery do u have?
Have u tried the PB99IMG method of changing hboots? Basicaly download the hboot from alpharev (PB99IMG) Rename it to just PB99IMG.zip, put it on ur sdcard... Put the JB rom there too.. and then boot into bootloader (volume down + power) and bootloader will ask to update bootloader, volume up for yes.. it will then ask u to reboot? Volume down for no.. then boot into recovery,(if 4ext) format all partitions except sdcard then reboot recovery and u can then install the rom.
Click the adb & fastboot guide in my sig for a great guide coz fastboot is the best way to do things

Exactly how did you try to install the ROM (JellyBone?)? Where did you get it? Have you flashed other custom ROMs before? Can you access HBOOT? (Turn off the phone and hold power + volume-down.) Can you plug the phone into the computer and run ADB?

Hello,
I tried to install the cyanogenmod 11 to my phone today,it's the first custom rom that i ever install on an Android phone. I followed all the steps provided by the cyanogenmod team but the phone it's stuck at the boot image and won't pass it. The steps i made are these:
1.Downloaded the latest stable build of cyanogenmod
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=endeavoru&type=snapshot
I used the latest one M8.
2.Downloaded the GAPPS from here
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps
I downloaded the CM11 file, the fist file that is in the list.
3.Downloaded the clockwork recovery from here:
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
4.Put the downloaded cyanogenmod and GAPPS in a folder named Cyanogen in my storage
5. Installed the custom recovery of the clockwerk recovery
6. Wipe factory data/devlik cache
7. Installed the cyanogenmod zip and the gapps zip
8. Reboot, and not let the phone enter the cyanogenmod screen, pressed the volume down and power button to take it to fastboot
9. Installed the boot.img that is in the cyanogenmod zipfile
10. Reboot
After all of this the phone still doesn't boot up,it's just stuck at the cyanogenmod logoscreen, the wheel is spinning, sometimes freezes but always spinning, what do i have to do to make my phone work?
Please help,i need to use my phone in a few hours because i have to go to work.
Thank you verry much and excuse the long post.

Ooow,ok,i undestand,i flash the boot, after that the cwmrecovery and after that i do all the cyanogenmod stuff. One more question if it's not to much. If i do all of this stuff and still don't have a luck with cyanogenmod..or i just get tired of it, i had made a backup for the stock rom. If i use the cyanogenmod for a while and i want the Stock Rom back, can i just revert to the backup i made in clockwork mod earlier?

you already flashed recovery.img and you already flashed boot.img and gapps and did a full wipe so no need to do that again

Sir,
Firstly i installed htc sync manager and updated all my drivers .
Then i made a backup of all my pictures..videos..chats.. etc.
Once i was sure that nothing is there in the phone that is imp. And has not been backed up , i coppied the android 4.4.4 rom and gapps to my phone
I had hasoon 2000s toolkit for one x .
So i first used vol down button + power button to enter into fastboot mode and connected it to pc so that it says fastboot usb .
Then from there i think i didnt flash boot.img (and probabily thats the root caise of the problems im having .
Then i wiped my dalvic cache..partition cache and wipe data/factory reset
After that i clicked on install from zip and installed the cm11 endevouru xxxx xxx.zip file . Once it was complete i rebooted my phone to bootloader . Then again to recovery and then back to install zip . Now i installed gapps .
Once done i rebooted my phone . And now in the phone the cyanogenmod logo appears with an arrow going round and round encircling that logo.. and arrow sometimes stops for some moment but nothing happens .. the phone doesnot boot ahead .. wat to do im helpless sir please help me.. im in big trouble. Thank you.

did you flash boot.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I've quickly gone through this thread and am missing 1 important piece of info :
What is your hboot number and on what rom/software number were you before all this ?
If you hboot is lower than 1.3x than you can't install this rom at all.
And there is no need to reboot the bootloader between flashing the rom.zip and the GAPPS.zip. do these 2 straight after one another inside the recovery.
help me please
