If this is during music playback try Jays Headset control from the play store it's free and it allows you to customize the effect of the button during playback.
Jays not compatible with Beats Solo, try Headset Droid.

Works fine with SOLO HD's
Not sure about solo hd, but for solo, forward and backtrack cause problem. Headset Droid can catch those 2 keys tho

The Volumes keys don't work on android at all iirc.
Just the middle button which can be programmed to so multiple clicks work, not perfect but does the job
It's the middle button. They sometimes work and sometimes don't

I'm using HTC one x. Why can I use the control talk with beats solo hd. Then. The next time I tried, I had to keep on pressing the middle button for the headset to function. It's there something wrong with my beats.

I imagine this is a hardware issue:
Every time sound is activated on my One X the speaker emits a 6 second squeal. This occurs irrespective of volume or whether the headphones jack is inserted.
Which is odd.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Some screwy sound equaliser app?
Nope
And it happens on stock and viper roms

Seems like your hw is screwed in a way or another.

There seems to be no equalizer built in the m8. Seems very odd that there's no option to adjust boomsound or after disabling it no standard sound equalizer. Any ideas anyone?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using xda app-developers app
I was worried bout this before I got my M8 as my phone is my music player.
In all honesty you don't really need a equalizer with BoomSound on board. .
It does a great job of making any music sound even better.
If you still need one though I would suggust a music app called playerpro . . .
P.S I personally use the stock music app with BoomSound
