So, I have a T-Mobile HTC One M8, and I am thinking about switching from T-Mobile to MetroPCS, but I am wondering something.....I use about 50 to 100 GB of data on Tmos, truly unlimited plan, and I don't get throttled at all as far as I can tell. I want to know, if I switch carriers, would it be possible for me to have that same unthrottled LTE data in MetroPCS or do they say unlimited and then throttle it, say after 50 GBs of data usage ? And my next question would be, is this phone good to use on MetroPCS ? Or no ? Please let me know
Metro does throttle their unlimited plan.
I dont know if they still offer it but when i got the S3 from metro they had a special where it was truly unlimited data plan but i think that was a limited time promotion and never was throttled.
Went back on T-mobile when the m8 was released so not really keeping up with metro
Stay with tmobile ...

Just stay with T-Mobile.
MetroPCS is the same service as T-Mobile. The unlimited with no throttling is $60 period. It's not a promotion, that's the normal plan.

Are you currently using MetroPCS ? And what are your current data speeds on Metro if you are on their network ?

I was pulling 25 MB/s download speeds on TMO's LTE network. Sometimes with bursts near 30 MB/s. Is Metro the same ?
I work for the company. Been with TM for over 14 years. If I put a demo line next to my TM device, they are normally about 1mbps different, which can be the variance in network load at the specific moment. Sometimes MPCS higher, sometimes TM.

Okay. So if i unlock my M8 then I dont have to be concerned about download speeds....any ideas on where i can find a good website to do an unlock foe my M8 and not get scammed ?

Not sure there. If the phone is paid in full, TM will unlock for free. Just call customer care.

No on my plan it doesn't actually, I thought it did too tmobile call me after I got my plan asked me if I wanted to add the feature because it was free and it wouldn't use my minutes and I said ok. Tested myself calling different places and people(non tmobile customers), and didn't use any of my minutes

This is correct, as long as you have the feature enabled it most definitely does not use your minutes. It should be a free feature for every post paid plan that isn't a grandfathered plan.

It doesn't use your minutes if you have the "Free Wifi Calling" feature added to your plan. I had them add this last year when I heard about it in the first place, though the rep called it "Wifi-preferred calling", and can confirm after 13 months that indeed with that feature your WiFi calls do NOT count against your anytime minutes.
OP: Mine doesn't lag at all and our internet is only about 12mbps down/ 4mbps up
maybe need to restart your router/modem?

I'm on the monthly 4G plan and I talked to a representative and she said wifi calling does use minutes and it only serves to make the connection quality better.
If so where is the option to add the free wifi calling option you said that does not use minutes. I only have a 100 minutes so if that's possible that would be awesome.

You have to be on a high enough plan to get the feature, I think Value and Classic plans both are eligible but here is an old thread on the TMO support forum about it:
http://support.t-mobile.com/message/135370
and yes it works great outside the country - I used it on my G2X last August in Japan. Little bit of lag calling back home but what do you expect being on the other side of the planet?

Are you really that surprised when you reach your data cabs Tmobile throttles you down worse than any other company. That's why everyone should go unlimited before they get rid of it, I know they say they're not going to but with Tmobile getting a new CEO who knows what's going to happen.

Unless they only updated people in certain areas and are doing it in droves. Then perhaps your area won't get that update until that particular date. Wish I could have more information but I'm not a T-Mobile insider.

On the regular plan they have this:
Unlimited Nationwide 4G
Unlimited 4G data on T-Mobile network for accessing the web, streaming music and HD video, and downloading cool apps—as much as you want. No limits and no overages.
Unleash the power of your smartphone with unlimited 4G data and experience T-Mobile 4G without limits. If you want to access the web, stream music and HD video, and download cool apps and games as much as you want, you\'ll want unlimited 4G data. There are no limits, no overages, no worries—you never have to keep track of how much data you use. Not compatible with Smartphone Mobile HotSpot service. Data unlimited while on our 4G network.
$30.00 Per month
So my questions are - is this actually unlimited UNLIMITED? And is this for real 4G as in LTE or is this for 4G(3.5G really) HSPA?
Does anyone know?
Thanks

Oh I see.
Didn't expect that anyone would be selling these hot new phones for less than msrp. Hope it's legit.
I ordered mine(dev version) from htc/letstalk for 650 with no tax. Will be using it on tmo's $30 unlimited 4g plan. Hopefully will get it this friday.

Sure but someone can buy the phone on EIP, sell it you, call T-Mobile and say stolen. Then T-Mobile will block the imei. Too much risk.

thats why you go to the store, to confirm that it's fully paid off.

i got a note 3 a month after release for 550 instead of paying for 750. it was basically brand new.
Yes. Craiglist is really risky. Try using checkesnfree.com.. If it says it's financed.. Stay away from it!

I have one, well waiting for someone to pick it up. Lol. Just sold it.
Bootloader was locked but unlocked it with HTC Dev. No branding. 32gb internal and gun metal.

Does anyone know where to buy the HTC One M8 or really any other T-Mobile phones on contract? I am currently on a contract, but you can't renew it since T-Mobile stopped contracts completely, I really don't want to pay full price!
No you have to buy it outright unless you are on a plan that allows EIP which classic plans do not have.

So someone is going to pay full price and then turn around and sell a just released handset cheaper on craigslist at a loss. Can You please tell where I can find such idiots?

Having just received mine, yes that is the case. And yes, the bootloader is unlockable through HTCDev.
