How difficult is this to implement? I've seen this done on other Android phones but that was like back in the day when Windows Phone 7 had just launched.
Something like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-s/themes-apps/segoe-ui-zune-hd-wp7-font-update-zip-t882436
I'm just sick of the variances with font size on this platform. Like I can set my email font and size to small, however, when I launch my email client, I've got huge text staring at my face. I installed outlook.com (for those that have windows live ids), it's super clean and everything is proportional. That's the look I'm aiming for ... like my device but I need to fix this soon LOL

I feel your pain. I too find this very annoying. The over-sharpening of the screen also makes the fonts appear weird like it is a mixture of thin and bold weights. Add to that the halo effect around the texts.
I wish there was an easier way to customize our phones.
you can change the fonts with the preinstalled lg app (i forget the name, but it has all the themes and junk) but there is no good font in there, it's all childish fonts reminiscent of comic sans, which just hurts my eyes to look at.
i wish they'd have just left roboto in there and called it a day. who uses all these ****ty curly and handwriting looking fonts? i guess they're big in korea since samsung crams them all into their phones too

I hear you ... nice to know there are other people that feel my pain. However, You'll be glad to hear that I've solved half the battle. I was able to find Segoe WP fonts which I downloaded to my pc and then using Font Changer Lite, was able to apply it. It looks WAAAAAY better this way.
The only challenge I have is how to reduce the font size during email composition. It's like pinch to zoom doesn't work at all.
Someone mentioned something about android Pixel Density and that I should look into that however I haven't had the chance to yet.
Folks, trust me - even with the few quirks, it still looks amazingly better with this font. You can get the font pack from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=678190.
I'll post screenshots tomorrow.:good::good::good::good:

can you link the app you used to change the font?
if you're rooted you can get the xposed module to change dpi per app to make just the email app sharper. 530 seems to work well for a lot of people
Segoe is a nice looking font but I still prefer Roboto. It's just what I prefer. Man, missing my Z Ultra with GPe already. Sigh. It's not just the fonts. It's also the boorish colors in the UI - Cyan, blue-gray, yellow-orange, red-orange, etc.

installing roboto should be just as easy as installing segoe, gonna try one and then the other.
Yeah, but I was holding off on rooting this phone as I only got it last night. I wanted to test everything for a week before playing with it. I just rooted it with towelroot 2 minutes ago. Ugh! A lot of customizations need to be done on this phone. Hopefully I don't mess it up as there is no recovery available.
So I installed the XPosed Framework, installed the App Settings module and I'm sad to say that tweaking the various settings on the email app seem to do nothing. I changed DPI settings and even reduced the font scale to 20 to see if there's any change ... nada.
What am I doing wrong?

i know just changing the build.prop doesn't seem to take, i forget the name of the app, but there's one that seems to be able to change the dpi, maybe that needs to be done globally before you're able to change it on a per app basis?

i rooted it fairly early since there is the nuclear option to go back to stock (i haven't looked into specifics but it seems to be available)
plus freezing apps and adding some xposed modules is pretty low risk as far as messing up your phone.
it's much snappier than it was out of the box
i'm using the L version of roboto, the light font as i like thinner fonts, it looks fantastic!

Thanks. In all honesty I'm quite hesitant flashing fonts. Cause in my experience I have soft bricked multiple devices doing so. It's ok if CWM or TWRP is available and we can easily restore.

Anyone else found that when they set a custom density not all apps resize, they seem to keep the default density of the Samsung ROM? even though it has been changed. NOVA HD was one but also dialler app and camera for me.
It is also irritating that touchwiz seems to be locked to particular density as well. Anyone found any workarounds for this?
I assume you've turned Compatibility Mode off in Spare Parts? If not, try that first.
TouchWiz seems to misbehave even with that turned off, but I've had no problems with anything else being too small while running at 192 density.
you weather and clock arent squashed up into the top left hand side of your screen then, leaving about 3/4 inch column down the right hand side?
Have to wait for a good multi dpi theme or rom... but I think without cwm they'll have to wait

YES.!, thought it was just me, didn't realise it was density at first and ended up flashing my phone twice from scratch, second time I didn't use it and no force closes.
Custom ROMS starting to head our way now so hopefully we can get this issue resolved.

Yeah there's quite a few oddities when changing density. I basically worked around it by replacing most of the default programs.
Dialer: DialerOne
Camera: One of the numerous camera apps in market
Music: Poweramp
Videos: mVideoPlayer
I still have to find decent replacements for Calendar and Contact list, though the contact list doesn't look bad really.

Ok, using this post as reference, I messed around with the Contacts.apk file.
I managed to resize the default dialpad to fit 200dpi.
Note that this apk was only tested on VillainRom. I don't think the signatures are compatible with normal deodexed roms.
However the scrolling aid on the right side when searching through contacts is still too small. Haven't found how to fix that yet.
EDIT: Also fixed the TouchWiz Calculator. Fits nicely on both portrait and landscape mode.
As I mentioned on another post below, if it doesn't work on your ROM, just replace the META-INF directory in my apk with the META-INF from your original apk to resign that package.
NOTE: Previous version of Contacts.apk still had misaligned landscape dialpad. I've fixed it and reuploaded.

i wont use this cos the sigs are diferent, but if u can point me where to look to change the settings, i will make my own... or ill just upload my apk for u to fix it, or make it more resizeable.
thx for the help!
Well an easy way for you to get it to work on yours is to download the Contacts.apk that I uploaded. Copy your Contacts.apk somewhere, and open both apks in 7zip. Then just copy the META-INF directory from your apk to my apk. That basically changes the signature. Once that's done my apk should work for you.

Let's take it one step further, what are the files you changed in your apk? For example, I know with the dialer, we may only need to change dialer_app.xml.

I actually went overkill on the apk. I basically grabbed the layout_resize java file from this thread and ran it on all layout xml files. Basically the script replaces all x dip references to x * 1.5 px. It's a bit unwise actually, but so far it's working as intended. Gonna test it for a few more days to see if replacing all dips broke anything.

I am starting this thread anticipating the release of LP to our device. As we all know with the new 5.x.x release there are some bugs and new ways we have to mod things, most especially Xposed and the modules we use for our G3. I want this to be a place where you can ask questions, post information, and assist with anything TMo LP related.
Please no arguing and no conspiracy theories. I hope that with everyone playing nice and helping others, this can serve as a central hub of knowledge for our device running stock LP
@autoprime has already released a flashable unofficial system and boot image here..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/development/stock-lg-d851-20b-t3062164
Please read it thoroughly!!
There is also a new root method, as many know, for Lg devices that is now available in a oneclick method. For those that don't want to flash the official rom through twrp when both become available this is for you,,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951
Remember this is mainly an information thread so please read as much as possible before asking a new question. If you don't have a somewhat helpful answer please don't reply. If you don't have a somewhat logical question please don't ask. We are here to help eachother
Don't know about the G3 although it should be fine, but Viper4android is working on LP. I installed it on my step son's N4..

Overall works great but a few bugs.
What doesn't work / not work correctly--- indicated what isn't
Every change needs a reboot
Any change breaks custom Navbar/SoftKeys (until rebooted)
Quick Settings Panel color impossible to match to the color above it (the colored bar with the settings, clear and clock in it, not the status bar)
Advanced Power Menu shows up but missing reboot options despite 4 way setting being enabled. Screenshot option doesn't do anything.
Remove Knock Code String
Hide Carrier Text (Unlock Screen)
Bigger Call Picture
AOSP Clear All Button
Restore the Menu Button, it does restore the menu button but it doesn't change the icon in the stock settings anymore, still shows as Q-Slide or something like that
Ability to disable quick circle (that thing when you hold the home key)

Yeah I think the only way to switch profiles is still through guest mode(not like other LP devices) so nothing there has changed.. I'm doing fine with data and wifi, issue I have is starting this morning I couldn't turn BT on from the statusbar toggle until I rebooted. I clean installed and started everything over too.
Plus so far battery seems a little worse..which has been reported across the board on G3's running stock LP
How To Get Viper4Android Working On 5.0.1 D851 (My Experience)
As the title states this is how you can get Viper4Android soundmod working.
·Download and install the Viper apk for 4.4/5.x you can choose version 2.3.3 or 2.3.4(I have a modded version called Lolliviper) (Not my work, you can google it).
·Download and install SELinux mode changer from the Playstore.
·Open Developer options under system settings and uncheck "Use NuPlayer".
·Open SELinux mode changer app and change to permissive.
·Open Viper and install your prefered driver (I use Superior quality).
·Reboot
·Upon reboot make sure SELinux is still set to permissive.
·Open Viper and enable.
·Open your music app and select a song.
·Open Viper select menu and the driver status. You should have all YES.
I have tested this on Google Music and the stock player. There are a lot of guides out there for this. Most suggest flashing libs and build prop tweaks. None of that was necessary for me. This is the exact way I set it up.

Nothing. Loss of features, HIDEOUS iOS color scheme. Notifications on the lockscreen can now be either Google Now style cards or nothing. Can't simply allow notification icons in the notification panel to be visible on the lock screen.
Custom launchers can no longer change the number if homescreens, apps like Tasker can no longer toggle connections. And the toggle for mobile data is now three menus deep.
I didn't want to upgrade to Lollipop but since AT&T pushed it OTA, I didn't have a choice. Several times throughout the day, I told it "no, I don't want to install the update." So it waited until I was asleep and did it anyway. Now I'm not only stuck with TouchWiz but I've lost the ability to use Tasker to make it bearable. Done with Samsung and done buying anything from the carrier.

"Way better" is (imo) a dramatic understatement. Until no, I've been absolutely in love with my Samsung devices. The TouchWiz version of Lollipop has solidly convinced me to never buy another. It'll be Nexus for me from now on and if Samsung does another round of Nexus, I'll skip it.

For me, Lollipop is smoother/snappier. Games are running smoother and barely any lag. Web pages scrolling is smoother too on the built in browser.
Battery life seems to be the same. Some new features and animations are added and now you can pull down notification panel at the lock screen.

It's too good to be true. Just checked and nothing.
A news written with the a**! The incoming upgrade is for Moto X4, and this was already known. They mixed the original motorola news (https://blog.motorola.com/2017/09/14/say-hello-android-oreo/) with the fact that the upgrade for Moto X4 is released. For moto z2 play the soak are started 2 weeks ago in brasil. I hope I'm wrong but, again, it's a news written with the a**!
The updates changes promise twice improved battery life!
I notice it doesn't mention the "improvement" of changing the quick settings background from black to light grey.
As to its authenticity, I reckon that depends on whether or not you trust something called ausdroid.
This 1.1GB update introduces changes including the following:
Autofill your logins to favorite apps
Faster speeds, longer battery life and smart text selection
Picture-in-picture gives you a floating window letting you do more at the same time
Notification dots on your apps to alert you of something new
Google Play protect to keep you safe from malicious apps
Further improved battery life*

The biggest change I've seen is that the quick settings background changes from black to light grey and I'm not wanting that. ICK!

Picture in picture, the new UI (you may not like it but a lot others do) compatibility with new apps.. bluetooth battery percentage, autofill, better battery perfomance and more..

I can't imagine why anyone would prefer a white or light background. It hurts the eyes, especially in a darkened room and wastes battery life.

Well, the dark theme doesn't save battery since it is not "black" so it makes use of the leds..
I agree it hurts my eyes too, but i like the white theme it looks (to me) modern

The white backgrounds are from lollipop.
Not exactly, modern.

Not in the quicksettings, or the full settings app gone white (including status bar)

typically, incompatibility with older apps will be more impactful

Personally, I'm looking forward to OREO because I believe it has implemented new file system management (SDCardFS), moving away from FUSE. From my experience on my Moto Z which received the OREO update earlier this year and from what I've read, the file date attributes are maintained with SDCardFS when you move/copy a file to your main storage, whereas with FUSE if you move/copied a file to the main storage, the file's date attributes changed to the date/time when you perform the move/copy.

BTW, no OREO update yet here in Canada for the Motot Z2 Play (xt1710-01) - still on the February 1, 2018 Security Patch.

Wow, I wish I knew what you are talking about. It sounds interesting!
Just curious if any / many of you use themes?? Hex or otherwise?
Does it cause battery drain or otherwise problems?
I have used in the past, just have ventured out yet with the Note

Hex is a must for me... it's the closest to getting a full Amoled Black theme for almost all the apps i use. i don't monitor the impact to battery life, tho... i believe there are a few Google Apps that can't be themed (Play Store, Chorme, Google Phone), but that's not a problem for me. hope this feedback is helpful to you.:good:
EDIT: Added screenshots

For sure those are much closer to true black theme .... Do you generate your own or use one already created?
And thanks for reply

This is my own theme; I've used it on my note 9, note 10+ and now the 20 Ultra. I do use the Hex AOSP add-in in combination with Hex+. Lol, I copy the Hex settings file from device to device.

I'm using substratum and can't tell any hit on the battery. My theme's are all dark and using dark mode in settings.

I have Hex installed but really like the simplicity of Substartum, as mentioned in one of the other relies google won't allow you theme some of their apps. You need substratum lit and synergy installed, I believed they are around $1.00 a piece. Here's the thread and the current instructions are close to the end of the thread.

when I tried the hex theme engine it seemed to cut off the use of the bottom of my screen. was that just because of the theme that I selected?

this could be due to a navbar setting in Hex; i'd search the Hex thread for possible solutions.

No substratum doesn't require root on Samsung phones! Using an unlocked snapdragon variant on the t-mobile network Been using it since the Note 8, the current instructions are toward the end of the thread.

For me personally I prefer hex over synergy/subs. Just feel like hex has more customization options and the themes are more detailed. Admittedly I haven't tried synergy/subs lately so maybe that isn't the case anymore.
Other than the power consumed while building/installing the hex themes I haven't noticed a hit on battery while actively using a theme.

Are you using Substratum "lite" w/Synergy or Substratum w/Andromedia?

Substratum lite w/synnergy. Substratum with andromedia was a pain and it's not supported anymore.

ok, thanks for confirming. my [personal] issue with Substratum Lite/Synergy is never knowing which selection would crash. plus, not many Amoled Black themes work with Samsung devices. what themes are you using? thanks.
