Hi there
I'm a new user of a Nexus 7 and a long time Samsung smartphone user. I'm also new to PA. So here's my questions concerning multi-user setup and app privacy.
After fresh installation of PA, setup of owners account and additional user account app privacy works normal. When the owner installs some apps it's still OK but after the second user installs something (facebook in this case) app privacy does not show the app list, just the spinning "loading" icon. Is this normal or a well known issue?
Second user does not have app privacy in "settings", does that mean that whatever is set by the owner applies to the user as well?

Looking in settings I can't seem to set a different sound for different notifications. IE email sounds different than SMS.
Really? Clearly Android is in need of some 'Mobile Phone' settings.
This was one of my 1st gripes and the way round for me is to use 3rd part apps
1. Disable notifications in Settings
2. Install Handscent SMS and set it to play what ever sound when you get a SMS
3. Install Gmail Popup and set this to play a different sound for Emails received
Works for me and makes my Desire more desirable

Try looking in the apps themself rather than in settings!
i.e. change Gmail notifications in GMail, SMS notifications in your messaging app etc et.

Dave
Yikes... Every mobile phone since like 1982 has been able to change this in one place. I knew I was going to have a few problems with android but wow.
Is there an official place to submit enhancement (20 years ago) requests to the android development team?

You rather miss the point. Since Android allows all sorts of new applications, with all sorts of potentially new notifications, there is no way you can have a "one stop shop" for notifications.
I have 4 email accounts setup in Gmail, and each of them has a different notification sound. It would be very hard to achieve this if notification sounds were handled centrally.

Dave
And if you don't change the sound in an app it uses the default one as set in the 'Sound' settings in the menu, under 'Notification sound'
Hi Guys,
I've long used password apps on the PC that integrate with the browser/chrome to auto-fill passwords.
However I'd like to find one for my Android devices that does the same thing. All the password apps I've tried so far require you to use their own in-built mini browser if you want this functionality.
Does anyone know of a password app for Android that integrates with Chrome?
Or is it not possible for an app to have this level of integration? I would have thought it would be possible, as an input method like the keyboard apps etc...
Many thanks
Chrome by itself can remember them and synchronize with multiple devices. Just activate it in settings.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You can do this with Dolphin Browser and his Lastpass plugin.
LastPass will integrate with everything (not just Chrome), as it gives you a new keyboard that auto-fills passwords. Just install the app and when select the text-entry box for you username or password you can swipe-down on the notification bar and change your keyboard to LastPass. Hit the LastPass button on the keyboard and it will automatically fill in your username and/or password.
As I understand it, Chrome for Android doesn't have a fully functional plugin interface that will let applications build an interface like they can for Dolphin.
always when i open up viper or the eizo louder app on my nexus the privacy guard active thing will pop out on my status bar its very annoying how do i remove it?? on a carbon 4.3.1 rom.. if android 4.3 is ok no have this problem
I'm not sure if you're looking to remove just the notification or to undo the privacy guard setting for that particular app.
You might hit up http://www.xda-developers.com/android/app-ops-brings-granular-permissions-control-to-android-4-3/ for more information about the App Ops section rolled out in Android 4.3
Basically, to access the hidden feature, you have to create a shortcut to it. Then you can get in there and change the privacy guard settings for each app (location, personal, messaging, device). Each of those privacy groups has a number of individual settings.
Because my spouse and I want to share the tablet, we have setup an additional user account in addition to the main owner account. We are finding the user account cannot launch DeX. It is not in quick settings bar and greyed out in Advanced Features. Why would samsung limit such a main attribute to only the owner account? Is there any workaround way to launch it?
Can anyone explain why the Gallery and Theme app is always running in processes / background ? I don't use cloud to sync or backup images . Also if I disable mobile data permission for the gallery app it complains and prompts that mobile data is off. Why ?
The other thing I noticed, when viewing running apps under battery usage menu, they dont show running in the developer running apps/processes menu. Anyone know why?
