[Q]Missing apps after reboot - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

Hi, I'm using CM 11 for Galaxy Wonder. Before installing CM 11 , I wiped my data because i wanted ti have more memories in my sd card. After i installed , i downloaded some games that need 80+mb , so it automatically move to Sdcard. After i reboot my phone, my apps gone!! I repeated rebooting my phone also can't. In Setting , my apps doesn't appear. Please Help me to fix this problem..

your apps r on sdcard, u have to wait longer......it will appear much later.
no worry its there, takes longer time to process.

I'm waiting so long time... still haven't came out yet..

I don't have a galaxy w, but I did have a galaxy exhibit 4g, which are similar phones. Are you using the internal sd? If so, format it to vfat in cwm. I had the same problem where my apps that were on the internal sd would disappear after a reboot until I formatted it to vfat. Try it and see if solves your problem.

How to format internal sd to vfat? Can you teach me or give me website?
Sent from my GT-I8150 using XDA Free mobile app

If you do end up formatting your internal sd make sure you copy whatever you want to keep into your micro sd as they will be deleted upon formatting. I'm not sure if you'll have the same options as I did, but it's worth a shot. Boot into CWM recovery. Select "Mounts and Storage" and you will be given various options such as formatting System, Cache, Data, etc. Look for "Format sdcard0." That should be internal sd and sdcard1 should be your micro sd, but to be safe remove your micro sd before you boot into recovery, so you won't accidentally format the wrong sd card. Once you select "format sdcard0" it will give you a few options: vfat, exfat, ext2, ext3, etc. Select vfat and it will format you internal sd. Hope that helps.

Thank you for your helping...

But after i reboot, the shortcut icon apps which are moved in sd card, will miss ??
Sent from my GT-I8150 using XDA Free mobile app

The apps that are moved to the sd are still missing? It might be the ROM you're using. You might want to update the ROM if it's not up to date or use a different ROM. Alternatively, have you looked into using "Link2SD?" You can find it on the google play store. You'll have to make an "ext" partition in your micro sd. You can move all of your downloaded apps to the sd card that way. Here is a guide that may help you out.
How to use link2sd: http://rootmyandroid.org/how-to-use-link2sd-tutorial-guide.html
How to partition your sd card: http://rootmyandroid.org/increase-internal-memory-phone.html
-The guide says to delete the whole partition. You can re-size the partition and then create the ext4 partition. Backup all the data to your computer just to be safe.
The software to partition your sd card: http://download.cnet.com/MiniTool-Partition-Wizard-Home-Edition/3000-2094_4-10962200.html
I personally prefer to use link2sd as it allowed me to move apps that otherwise would be locked to the phone.

Sorry, maybe my explaination are wrong. What i mean is my apps didn't miss , but my shorcut icon apps in my home page will be missing after i reboot. My Apps didn't Miss! Only my shorcut Apps will mss on my home page..

Oh! Well are you using the stock launcher? Have you considered that it may be the launcher that you're using? Try Nova, Apex, Holo, etc and see if you're shortcuts stick.

What is stock launcher? I checked in setting , my launcher or theme is default , Holo that you said. Should i change other launcher?
Sent from my GT-I8150 using XDA Free mobile app

The stock launcher in Cyanogenmod is called Trebuchet. That is the stock launcher. You should try a different launcher from the Google Play Store. Try Nova Launcher, Apex Launcher, Holo Launcher, ADW Launcher just to name a few and see which one you like. The stock launcher is pretty limited in features in my opinion. Hopefully that remedies the issues with your app shortcuts disappearing.

Thank you very much.. you helped me a lot.. I have solved the problems..

Well your widgets do not work because you moved them to the SD card...
Moved to Q&A. Please don't post question threads in Development.
Left Widgets on phone.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
you use Froyo App2SD which does not move the whole app to the SD card and some apps, like Widgets, don't work if moved at all.
If you need more free space use APP2SD+ instead, which natively is supported by OpenDesire, you just need a proper EXT partition and have to completely re-flash the ROM.
Please point me to more details on how to do that.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
backup your phone apps using Titanium Backup or MyBackup Pro, do a Nandroid backup of the whole phone (boot in Clockwork mod and use Nandroid to do a full backup)), then backup your SD-Card.
After you've finished this, open ROM Manager on your phone and use the partition tool. Create a 512MB EXT partition, no SWAP needed. Your phone will reboot, automatically enter the recovery mode, completely delete the SD card and create a 512MB partition, next to your FAT32 partition.
After that, do a full wipe in the recovery. Everything gets deleted on your phone. Then flash the latest OpenDesire ROM or any other ROM supporting A2SD+. Activate in the OpenDesire settings (menu) the internal install location, so don't set it to external or automatic. Use Titanium Backup to restore your apps (make sure that you set in the properties to install it to the internal memory).
After you've done that, or before you do the app restore, check with Quick System Info if the EXT partition gets used.
Wow that's quite a process. What exactly does that do? Is it using the SD card for part of its internal ram?

well, it's just creating the EXT partition and starting from scratch
Yes, it uses the SD cards EXT partition as internal ram for both the apps and the dalvik cache.

[Q] CyanogenMod 7.2-GIO-KANG-RC1 issues with ext4 partition (sd-ext)

So I've been using this ROM for a while but I have one issue with it that's becoming very annoying, pretty much every week I get sd-ext mount errors being unable to install/download apps and getting reboots every time I try to install anything. The only solution I found to fix this is reformating the sd-ext partition and then I have to reinstall every app...
After a week tho, same issue happens again. This has happened with both a2sd and s2e :/ Am I doing something wrong? The ext4 partition has been formatted on pc using MiniTool.
Link2SD doesn't give me this error afaik but by using that program my internal memory gets full very fast.
Anyone knows anyway to fix this?
There is a long discussion over the use of ext4 on sd-ext and cwm.
The issue is in cwm, not in the cm7.2 rom.
It is said that replacing the script 02gio can fix the problems, but some people have problems despite that.
Link2sd is the safest way right now.
I had the same problem.
I was unmounting my SD card (I don't mean connecting to PC but safe removing), when the phone is on.
Or when I was rebooting it while some app was updating.
So try to avoid it.
S2E is still so unstable so I stoped using it link2sd is super I have 105 apps and still have 50mb free and still I can have more because I dont use link on all apps its unbeleavable fast and theres no crash all day since I use this I have used S2E for month and was getting daily reboots and in the end it corrupted all my apps
Sent from my GT-S5660 using Tapatalk
105 apps with link2sd? How? Last time I tried it, after installing the 3 angry birds and some apps I ran out of memory...guess I'm missing something?
As for the issues being about not safe removing or removing sdcard...my usb port is broken so I don't really connect my Gio to pc lol and I never remove the sdcard, I get the errors after rebooting the phone mostly :/
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
When using link2sd, do not use "move to sd", it will send the apps to sd via standard method. Instead, use "link" and check all options (incl. libs). I have 130 mb free with all apps on sd.
If it worked, you see "on sd: 2nd partition" under the app name in link2sd.

I use S2E as installed default and there is no problem with that. Check your configuration or wipe and do factory reset to see if changed.

Link2SD - Internal Memory still full

Hey guys,
I'm using Android 2.3.5 with Sense 2.1 (stock rom) and added Link2SD to my rooted phone some time ago. At first I was glad I had about 50mb of internal storage left after I moved all (!!!) linked every app to my SD-card. I don't know how, but the internal storage shrinked more and more and now I'm left with 10mb of free storage and that annoying message, that I'm running out of memory. I tried some cache cleaning apps but I just don't know what's eating up all of my memory!
Any ideas?
greetings
Link2sd leaves stuff in internal memory. My little wfs became a wonderful phone after I s-offed and rooted it, but then installed some custom roms, and some of which had A2SD built in. I installed all my apps and still had 75mb of free memory.
I am currently running CM9, and I used a custom script to move my apps and cache to my SD card. I have 123 MB of memory now. It's terrible

After failing to get simple2ext to work, and having Link2SD eat my SD card mutliple times, I was just about ready to give up on CM9 when I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1668247
Since then, my CM9 Alpha 7 install ahs been working very well. I could not be more pleased.
BTW: If you do run those scripts on an existing ROM (without Link2SD, Data2SD, or simple2ext, just do steps 1 and 2)

I don't know much about Link2SD, as i could never get it to work, but... I'm thinking if you move everything back to internal memory, and uninstall the startup scripts that mount the SD card, you should be able to run the scripts I used. I would make a full backup of my ROM before trying anything like that though. Ya never know...
You can try the following.
1. Go to link2sd. Clear cache, relink lib files and multi select anf link all.
2. Get titanium backup and integrate davlik cache into rom.
3. Enable auto link in link2sd.
4. Reboot.
Im using link2sd wid a lot of apps and have internal storage 60+ mb all the time.
Also uninstall any crap system apps you dont use because they'll just fill the internal memory.

Hi buddy...I had installed CM10 on my HTC wildfire & used Link2SD which was working good for the internal memory and applications part but had its own loops of data connection getting lost in between and wake up problem. This was irritating so i switched back to my Stock rom by CWM using Backup & restore. Now im glad to be back on my stock rom without all other problems but the problems of LOW INTERNAL MEMORY.
Is there really any way that i can properly install Link2Sd and make space free and have hell lot of apps just as i had when i was on CM10 ???
Please guide....i love having all my applications back...but on stock rom itself....please help.....

First flash eoghan's kernel on stock ROM which enables using of different scripts and link2SD..then partition SD card and flash the script or use link2SD as always..
And make sure you have a backup..
P S Instead of flashing the above you can also install crossfire's stock ROM or other stock based ROMs which have init.d support I.E you can partition SD card and install scripts and other stuff... Your options are Kimsmod ultimate, Wildchild or crossfire's stock ROM.

You terrible WRONG!!! Link2SD do the job correctly, learn it! and Internal Storage remains unused-free! When link an app, in Storage Info looks Internal Storage raised but when you make Quick Reboot Internal Stoage seems like a nothing get in there! |So! I search for days to finaly suffix the best to free Internal Storage without any mod file|
I make Factory data reset and device come back with ~30mb Internal Storage, i partition sd card and install Link2SD, mount 2nd partition. Install any app, Create link Quick Reboot and go on!!

There is something better than Link2sd
Something better is called [INT2EXT] and it has requirements:
1.Init.d Supported in ROM
2.SD Card Partition
how to install:
1.Wipe everything and
2. Re-partition SD Card
3. Re-flash ROM
4. Install the zip using CWM
to download the scripts (INT2EXT) please head here

[Q]Used Link2sd but internal storage still full?

Yes I chose right format (ext3) on the first start and everything worked fine until now. I only have 8 apps in internal memory and linked 10 others to SD card, which is not many, but my internal memory still gets full. I tried wipe davik-cache and other option in the "More" menu but it could'nt free much space.
Back when I used a2sd on Cm7, I could install as many apps as I wanted but now the number is restricted. I heard that a2sd can cause severe lag on CM10 so I switch to link2sd but I have no idea what went wrong took so much storage like this. Can anyone help me?
BTW I'm using CM10 AOKP by erikas.

Link2SD does not move app data folder.
Check with Link2SD which app use most space and if it's with data folder or not.
U should link data, apk & dalvik files to sd.
I'm using for a long time with a lot of roms and never had such problem.
Notice that in some roms after a restart dalvik cache move again to internal.(like maclaw roms).

How can I check if it's with data folder or not? Below each app's description have some information like "Data: 500KB". I tried clear som app's data but it didnt free much data, only 4MB, and honestly I dont want to clear them
The weird thing is that my ext format is ext 3, but in Storage information there's 1 line telling that /data/sdext2. And when I tried recreating mount script, an error popped out saying that "mount: Device or resource busy. ext3 may not be supported on your device. Try FAT32 on the second partition". Other options failed too. Note that it worked in the first place. After that my ext is unmounted and a reboot mounts it back.
*I checked all options I can in Link2SD settings. I'm feeling jealous to pepple saying that they have lots of free space for apps
Just select all user app and press on "Create link"

1. How did you partition your sd-card?
2. Did you configure m2sd correctly?
3. Are you one of those guys who think that the internal memory itself will be larger, thus expecting to see "1148 mb" of internal storage in settings? You will still see 148 mb, but the partition will be there, doing its job.
4. What did you move to sd-ext? Try moving app and dalvik cache.
Hello,
1. To partition my SD card, I booted the phone in recovery and I partitioned it from there. And I know it's done because my SD's memory is now 1GB less.
2. All the boxes in m2sd application are checked. It doesn't let me change anything.
3. I didn't expect to see the internal memory larger.
4. From what I read, I thought that after m2sd is configured, it will move the applications itself to sd-ext. So by still seeing 126/148MB of my internal memory occupied, I suppose this didn't happen. How can I move an app manually??

Ok. That explains it. Your sd-ext wasn't done properly. Check my guide for correctly partitioning your sd-card :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37383522#post37383522
Then use the mounts2sd flashable zip. It's safer.

I have followed your guidelines and installed 4Ext recovery. Then i partitioned my SD card with that and i installed m2sd using the flashable zip.
Then still m2sd not working and i'm still getting the annoying low space notification. So i installed FreeSpace and it seems like i don't have an ext partition. The only things it shows there are:
- Cache 40MB
- Data 147MB
- SD-card 2731MB
- System 250MB
My SD card is 3.66GB. So from that, the conclusion is that the partition was created but the system cannot access it..?? What could be wrong?? How should i proceed? Just try to partition the SD again??
Thanks a lot

Yes, partition your sd-card again.
1gb goes to your sd-ext. It's normal for freespace to show 2731 mb.
For some reason my phone couldn't access SD-ext, even if it was partitioned correctly and in recovery it could see it. So i wiped everything and istalled a new ROM. Now it works perfectly!
Thanks a lot for the assistance!
