Hey guys, Cobbie here today I'm bringing you a tutorial on how to root the Archos 64 Xenon, this is a fairly simple tutorial and hope this will help you guys with this following phone. I also tried the following method 2 or 3 times to ensure it worked before actually making a tutorial and every time it was a success.
Note* - I'm not sure if this tutorial is in the right section so if it's not can an admin please move it to the correct location thank you.
Tutorial video' s here
Part 1 Rooting the device - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoYyLMUggu4
Part 2 Replacing VROOT superuser with the official Superuser - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20NgL2XmKJ8
Downloads needed will be in the description of the video due to the fact I'm not sure if you are allowed to provide external links so yeah.
Proof that my phone is rooted by using this following method.

I can confirm this following method also works. I tried this yesterday as I have an official update for my phone which removed root so I tried this method and it also works correctly. Just ensure that you get the official SuperSU rather than the Chinese version.

hello,
thanks for the post about how to root the Archos Xenon 64.
CobbieUK could your install Link2SD after rooting your device ?
i read that this Archos model has a small internal memory and is full after installing some apps !!
so, Link2SD would be helpful..
Is there some alternate ROM for this device ? cyanogen etc.
Thanks
looking to upgrade my 64 Xenon from JB (4.2.2) to Lollipop (5.X), is that possible and how if possible

@Haiau
Look like this is your own ROM. Can you provide more details (base-rom, etc)?
This rom port from SU640, using firmware & baseband, boot of LU6200, so far it is working well.

Very nice, thanks, how do I flash this thing from the official ICS ROM with no root and no CWM?
You must have root and CWM, for rooting and CWM check in forum

Wow, great work!
No offense but, what advantages do we get with a port of SU640 over LU6200 162?
from the screenshot, I see no difference between rooted 162 and yours.
Would you please enlighten me?
Haiaune rom
Thank you for sharing and your effort on this Rom. I like the boot screen! And thanks for debloating most (if not all) of the Korean apps. Saved me quite some time and effort Plus the dialer is perfect. And on dialing out, no more prompt if the call was for Korea or for a local call.
Those are my initial observations.
I'm starting to restore my apps through Titanium backup and will observe this the following days.
More power and keep it up! :good:
Google Talk
Hi haiau. I occasionally use Google Talk. Can you guide me how to re-install that app again? I've tried loading the 2 latest gapps for ics and Talk would already work but unfortunately both packages always crashes Google Play.
Good work, keep it up!
manage to install it but can you delete the VIDEO CALL SETTING on SETTING > CALL
it keeps FC on mine

To install recovery, you must to downgrade version 142, do root & make recovery on version 142. Hard reset to avoid error for your smartphone. Copy any rom cook ICS to your sdcard & flash them by recovery.
very nice rom. no more reboots
i got stuck on bootloop..
Will try this ROM someday..
Keep it up!
Hi,
I've got some trouble to get a proper root mod on my phone. After i used some of the hints which can be found in this forum i didn't managed to get it running.
History of my mod-trys:
I got it running until i patched my stock Rom to the latest version via fota. (the feature pack for German roms)
Then i tried to go back to a stock Rom here at the forum - but with little success. I installed it but important not able to get the root mod running without errors.
This is a screenshot of superuser:

If i try to update i am getting an error.
Sadly i don't know what to do now to get this fixed. Iused many fresh installs / cleanup etc but everytime i install the update.zip via recovery - its messed up.
gesendet mit Tapatalk 2
try to flash CWM with ODIN.. do not use adb shell because it needs root.. the try flash another ROM.. IT'S VERY RISKY.. I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOUR PHONE BRICKED
i've got cwm at the moment installed. As far as i understood the "root / unroot" thread it's not recommended to use this while rooting via recovery.
i used cwm to create a backup of my system and i rolled back it many times - so - thats working fine.
But my problem is that i don't find a suiteable custom rom for me - because it has to be "as stock as possbile". Meaning - i'm doing much development and testing with that phone - so it's not good if the mod can do things which i can't do with a stock rom. (Rooting is ok - i can handle that "mod" - if it works )
But i'm not firm enough with android core development to fix the root problem right now. Are there any manuals to use the "USB Debugging" Shell? I'm able to use that, too.
OR - if exsists - is there any _german_ stock rom out including the "value pack" addon? I just found a stock rom which is missing that. I guess there's coming with the value pack that causes rooting via update.zip going mad
i cant also root mine and i also have the value pack update but before i had the value pack i can still root my phone :CC
Please can someone tell me why this's happening ? Everything is going fine i installed Twrp recovery
twrp-3.0.2-0-hima.img and SuperSu SR2-SuperSU-v2.79-SR2-20170103215521 and everything installed fine, when it say reboot system i press reboot after that the phone keeps looping more than 20 times it won't work any idea ? software is marshmallow 6.0 Unlocked Bootloader.

The M9 is very finicky about SuperSU. The only two that can be reliably flashed are v2.65 and v2.79 SR1 - it looks like SR2 is what you flashed and why you're having issues.
I recommend uninstalling SuperSU ([EDIT]I'm not sure this is actually possible or necessary, please pardon my confusion[EDIT]) and then downloading & flashing 2.65 or 2.79 SR1. Once you've flashed either (I'd go with 2.79 SR1 personally), you can update the binary via the SuperSU app from within Android. The stickied HTC M9 readme thread's 4th post has links to the SuperSU install files you'll want.
Hey all,
First time I'm trying to root this device, and a long time since I've rooted any device, so I'm a bit rusty ...
While trying to flash with Odin, I'm getting this error (looks like a write permissions error?)

This is what's shown on the device after:
The current firmware on the device is the stock 4.4.2, and I'm using the latest CF Root for it: cfar_samsung_sm-t320_mondrianwifiue_kot49h.t320ues1aqa2_t0
Update:
I also went to updato.com, grabbed my latest firmware, flashed it in Odin (it passed), then re-tried the above: result was the same as above.
Any idea what step I should take next?
TIA

It's been so long i can't even remember the steps i took but if i were to do it right now I would probably flash twrp in odin, reboot directly to recovery and flash supersu.
Edit - here's a guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...nstall-twrp-3-1-1-sm-t520-t3693342?styleid=21

Thanks, but you have to root before you can install a custom recovery; I'm stuck at trying to get the chainfire root installed.
I'm still stuck, anyone have any other advice?

Hi, sorry for reviving an old thread but I had this issue last night and wanted to share how I resolved it
I have the same T320UES1AQA2 model but couldn't get the CF autoroot to work either. I ended up going into recovery (Power + Vol Up + Home) wiping data and then flashing CF-Auto-Root-mondrianwifi-mondrianwifixx-smt320.zip which worked perfectly.
I know this is super late but hope it helps and anyone else who stumbles across this
I have read countless post and have been to a dozen websites and I guess I am just confused if I can root this device with the current status, software/updates and security patches.

Yes, you can.
It requires unlocking the boot loader and installing a custom recovery. There are a few threads about it which makes it somewhat confusing. What it boils down to is do you want to use LL or MM to unlock it and once that is done do you wish to use the stock TW LL/MM or a custom ROM (TW/AOSP based).
Easiest to follow instructions here, uses LL to root:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...asy-guide-how-to-root-verizon-galaxy-t3454593
The hybrid way (LL/MM software mix, will require working SIM/Data connection to complete rooting), once done will be full MM based:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...t/howto-bootloader-unlock-upgrade-to-t3398144
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/general/shortcut-to-rooted-n910vvru2cqi2-t3763451
IF you want to run a custom rom, unlock the bootloader as outlined in the links above, install TWRP and then the ROM of your choice (TW/AOSP).
I just did both ways above not too long ago on a new to me 910v, then I ended up using the files from this post on the modified/hybrid way to root:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76813374&postcount=16
Then I upgraded the partial firmware from here to CQL1:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=15720#downloads
Yes, that means I wiped and rooted all 3 ways linked/described (BPA1, CPD1 & CQI2/CQL1) trying out the files/software. All 3 tries worked fine. I will say for me, Kingoroot worked and kingroot did not. YMMV
Andrew
Thx for all the info and the great news! I guess I thought that the phone might have been updated to far. I will give it a shot. Thanks again.

Hello, I just bought a N910V with same build number as yours. Did you have a chance to see if it can be rooted? (it seems all the instructions say cannot, just want to confirm. Thanks)

Yes I was able to follow the links and downgrade and unlock the bootloader and root and install a custom rom.
