[Q] Mutirom: how to update secondary rom to 4.4.4 - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

I have Multirom installed on Nexus 7 2013. My primary is Android L Preview and secondary roms are a rooted 4.4.4. Ubuntu Touch and an unrooted 4.4.3. This 4.4.3 wants me to update to the latest build but as I understand it if I let it "install and restart" this will fail as I am running Mutirom with a modified kernel. I vaguely understand that it should be possible to flash the 4.4.4 system.img file but if any one could just confirm how to do this without messing up my nicely working Multirom setup I would be grateful. If there is a better way of updating then please say so if you have the time. Thanks.

[Q] question about flashing roms with multirom

Hello XDA developers!
I have a quick question about flashing some secondary roms to my Nexus 7 2013 model FLO tablet running Android 4.4
Now i have rooted my tablet and installed multirom and TWRP Recovery Manager. I want to flash some secondary Rom's such as Paranoid Android and Cyanogenmod.
Now I know that from flashing CM to my phones that you have to also flash the Google Apps image to get the google play store on the Rom. Is this true with the Nexus 7 Rom's and multirom as well?
If i do need to flash Google Apps how would i go about doing that with multirom?
From what i understand is that I download the CM or Paranoid Android Rom for my Nexus 7 device and I boot into recovery mode and go into advanced and pick a slot for the rom and flash it. My question is...how do i go about flashing the Google Apps do i need to pick a slot for that as well what are the steps necessary for me to accomplish that?
Second could someone please post me a link on where I can get Paranoid Android Rom and the Google Apps file for that rom for my Nexus 7 device. I have tried looking for it here on XDA but not sure which is the right one for my device.
Also if someone could please post a link for Cyanogenmod Rom and the Google Apps file for my N7 i would really appreciate the assistance. Is the google apps file that is specific for my device -> Nexus 7 2013 FLO running Android 4.4 the same for all roms? What i mean is when I download the Google Apps package for my N7 could i use that for Paranoid Android and Cyanogenmod or does each rom have their own specific Google Apps package specifically for their Rom?
I thank you all for your time and assistance...and I really appreciate any advice/info you can throw my way.
Thank you all again,

After reading my post again I am embarrassed for asking such ridiculous questions...
Of course you need Gapps with your rom...
I have flashed CM 11 and Paranoid Android onto my N7 tablet. One question though, why is Paranoid Android not rooted?...
Kind of weird for a custom ROM but I am sure they have their reasons...

Root: Newbie's questions about upgrading & updating

Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie to the community of everything rooting and post rooting. I have recently rooted my N7 2013 running 4.2.2 and flashed TWRP recovery/SuperUser by Chainfire/AOSP PA 4Beta ROM.
While I now understands how to update the ROM and how to get out of a bootloop and other similar rooting circumstances, I need help understanding the procedures involved in the below scenario :-
Should Android get an incremental or a major update,
1. Should I first update the Stock ROM followed by reflashing the custom ROM or just wait for the custom ROM to release their compatible update?
2. Should the Superuser have an update, that does have to be updated from Play Store or the update needs to be flashed? Also, does TWRP needs to be updated if there's an update because I have heard that some ROMs are compatible with recoveries from a specific versions? Is this true?
3. Is updating radios really necessary? Will updating the radios cause it to malfunction? What is the procedure if this needs to be done?
4. What do I do if I wish to chuck the custom ROM and return to stock ROM or what is called un-rooting?
If there's something I missed out on asking but needs to be done, please point me in that direction as well!
Thanks
Regards
Karthik

Are you using the correct ROM for your exact model Nexus?...
For example, you may have possibly downloaded Paranoid ROM for the Nexus 7 2012 model but you have the Neuxs 7 2013 or vice versa.
Which Nexus 7 do you have? Do you have the Nexus 7 2012 wifi only which is known as model -> Grouper.
Or do you have the Nexus 7 2013 WiFi only which is known as model -> FLO
Or do you have the Nexus 7 2013 4G/LTE which is known as model -> DEB
Since you have MultiROM installed don't worry you can't mess up your tablet. Just delete the Paranoid ROM and download the correct ROM for your exact Model and do the installation again.
*IMPORTANT*
Make sure when you are flashing Paranoid ROM in MultiROM that you choose "do not share kernel". That could be another reason why your ROM is not working with your tablet, you could have shared the kernel from your stock/internal ROM with Paranoid ROM which just won't work!
SIDE NOTE:
Paranoid ROM does not come pre-rooted. So if you want Root access with Paranoid ROM you are going to have to download the SuperSU.zip and boot into recovery, go to list roms, select your Paranoid ROM, and flash the supersu.zip so that you will have root access. Many people do not know that Paranoid ROM does not come with Root so i wanted to let you know so that when you do get the ROM installed your not going crazy trying to figure out why Titanium Backup won't work! =)
I hope this helps...

[Q] installing new firmware/rom on my phone

Hi there.
I have the Huawei Acsend p6 phone, i have some rom of our cellular carrier, i'm not sure if it's custom or official rom with some minor changes. anyway, i can see that the build is "b130sp03".
i want to be at kitkat 4.4.2 with a good custom rom (one of the reasons i want custom is i not sure if my ver is official or not). the thing is: i'm new in this, and i don't know how i get from here to there.
i see some custom roms here, and each rom says you must have kitkat installed, or you must have this build installed before... so i go to the mentioned build, and then i see you must have that build before you install it... so i really don't know where to start and what is the right upgrade path for me.
can someone instruct me how to burn new custom rom from where i stand, and which builds (with links) i need to install after that in order to get to 4.4.2. Thanks a lot!
oh yeah. i rooted my devices. and install touch CWM

[Q] kexec-hardboot patch for 14.5.A.0.242?

I have this Rom so I do have dualrecovery installed and root.
Bootloader is also unlocked and xposed installed.
I used CM 12.1 before that and loved it, there were just too many bugs and things which I miss from the Sony UI, for example the camera app or the built-in screen recording feature.
I mainly got CM to get 5.0 as early as possible, then I saw that sony put out the official 5.0 patch for the phone, so I got back to stock and flashed the above ROM.
Now, I also miss some features of CM and I thought that Multirom would be a neat solution, so that I have CM and the stock sony rom.
Now, when installing the multirom manager from the play store, it says that my rom doesn't have the kexec-hardboot patch and on the multirom forum post, Garcia98 only released a patch for 4.4.4. Is there any way of doing it/is there a 5.0 kexec-hardboot patch yet? The only idea I would have is to get the 4.4.4 stock ROM, flash that with the kexec-hardboot patch, get multirom installed and then install a 5.0 stock sony ROM onto Multirom, but then I have 2 stock sony roms + CM...it's a solution, but if it's the only one atm, I would keep on only using the stock ROM for now.
Google didn't help.
Thanks in advance!
