Hi just wondering if anyone managed to root there device with Towelroot. Has anyone figured the correct mod strings?
Reason I ask is because I can't connect to PC and need a apt root solution for 4.4.2.
Thanks
CF Auto Root!
Sorry bro you need an apk for root...just happened to re-read your post. Never tried Towel Root.
ANDROID...A New Digital Revolution Of Incredible Developers
Kingo root worked for me after unrooting and updating by OTA to 4.4.2
Ive rooted both lg ultimate 2 & lg optimus fuel, both running 4.4.2 using towelroot. Only thing: before u "make it rain", tap welcome 3 times and change the next to last digit to a zero (on the phones i mentioned). Unsure of other models, but it'll root both of those phones in literally less than 5 seconds....

Hello my names Aaron, I rooted my galaxy tab 3 (sm-t217s) a little bit ago then unrooted just because my wifi wasnt turning on.. I had to do a stock restore through odin to get it all working again. When I did that I got the new kitkat update and gladly updated it. Now again though I want to root it so I can again do all the great things you can do with rooting!
So my questions are:
Can I root it running 4.4.2 the same way I did when I was running 4.2.2? Will it brick it if I just put on a custom recovery the same way as before and let that install superSU?
I would just like to know and if not then is there another way currently to root it?
I couldnt find anything about it that is why I am posting about it.. must not be a very common tablet?
Anyways thanks for your time and help!

Either use towelroot to root from within android or you can still flash twrp from Odin and root that way. Twrp may set warranty bit, mine was was already tripped so I can't say dor sure if it does.

I used towelroot on my tablet, it does what it has to do. Does not reboot, but when I use Root Checker it says that I do not have root.....any suggestions?
I was rooted with towel root fine under the June 2014 update to 4.4.2, but I mistakenly took the update to NH4 while rooted. My device seems to be fine, but I lost root and Towel root will not seem to root me again, no way, no how. My warranty bit is clean, and I don't want to trip it, but I'd love to have root back. Is there anyything I can do on NH4 from within Android to get root back? TIA
How did you do an unroot through Odin and which version of Towelroot did you use to root it again? I have the same tablet.
I have SM-T217S running Kitkay 4.4.2. I've tried almost every root app there is (Kingo, Towel, ect.). They all say my device isn't compatible. And when I go to update under settings, it says that my device is running unauthorized software and that I need to use Samsung kies to flash. But it has no root & no custom software, everything is normal. I have tried using computer to root but still nothing. What could I do to fix it?

I have four pieces of advice:
1. Please do not post the same thread in multiple places.
2. Questions/Help go in the Q&A/Help section (where your other post is).
3. Since this is a T-Mobile specific issue you'd likely have more success in the T-Mobile variant threads.
4. In accordance with number three, there are users in the T-Mobile section stating that PurpleDrake will root this version if Stump will not.
yeah sorry, request that a mod close this one... realized i was in the complete wrong section after I posted so I just re-posted in the correct section
So i recently been wanting to root my T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 again, the first time i did it in TowelRoot and it worked just fine, but i had to turn it in for warranty, i got a new one and I'm wanting to root it, i open TowelRoot and it says "This phone isn't currently supported". What? that doesn't make sense because i did the same process before with the exact same model phone and it worked just fine ( I run 4.4.2 ) as i looked into the problem i found that if you tap the "welcome to the towelroot v3" 3 times, it gives you a code that you can change, i changed it to all the available codes to try and fix it, got nothing. i have no idea why its deciding to not root this phone but it worked just fine with my first Note 3. Please someone help, any help is fine.
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum for more relevant answers.

Good luck
Towelroot won't work on kitkat, you need chainfire's autoroot, look in original development.
Pp.
If you flash the NE6 kernel using Odin you can then use Towelroot to root your phone. Then you can flash the NK3 kernel back If you want
Hey,
Been experimenting over the past few days now that I have a 4.4 phone for Verizon...What is the best temporary root program? after a while it seems my phone either loses root, or it isn't fully rooted (features not optional or working) with KingRo.
KingRo is the easiest, with KingRoot the phone shuts down or restarts itself, if i try to install supersume it also reboots or freezes.
Any other ideas? I have done the install via SP Tools and that is no better. after a few hours i lose root acccess and have to reboot. Even if i do a soft reboot i still loose root.
I think that is why they call it temporary. I too use kingroot. When my phone boots it is gone. It doesn't take Long for my phone to reboot when trying to use root functions.

Someone posted something in the 'New Note 4 owner' thread about a possible permanent root. I checked it out earlier today, and from what I read, for our phone (those with a Verizon retail Note 4) it's meant for Lollipop 5.0.1. It provides a link to the Odin and root file downloads you'd need. I haven't tried it myself yet, but I'm remaining skeptically optimistic. Sadly, there haven't been new posts to that thread since my last one at 2:10pm today. Hopefully, someone will give it a shot this weekend, and if not I may try it on Monday. I'd just have to update to the 5.0.1 version of Lollipop first. I need my phone for work, so that's mainly why I haven't delved into it yet.
No way that root for lollipop works permanently when we cant root 4..4
I'm just looking to see if everryobe is having the same trouble as me with kingroot or KingO, perhaps one program iss better than the other,
Of the newer android phones, which one is the best that is rootable> if i decide to switch to a permnanent rooted phone

Any phone Not from Verizon almost. Verizon locks down the boot loader.

This is a method to obtain working root & Super Su by chainfire with up-to-date binaries for the
AT&T Variant of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (SM-T217A) on 4.4.2
Let me make very clear, I did not develop these apps!
This is just a method I found after searching & some trial and error.
I thought it may be helpful if it were available here on the forums.
I spent too long looking for a method that still worked on an OTA up-to-date device etc.
Nobody bothers for an old device with a locked bootloader. :crying:
I'm sure everyone that has had or currently has this model knows that Kingo Root works (at least for partial root), and a big thanks to them for their effort & hard work.
But if you're like me, you want the freedom to use Super Su or any of the other available options out there for managing permissions.
Either way, thanks to Kingo for a temporary solution.
And thanks to gatesjunior you can have your freedom of choice back.
(Although I highly recommend that you use the version found at the bottom of the post, because the newer version I tried stalled at the 1st stage.)
If this method ends up working for you I think it would be worth the $3.99 to support the developer by purchasing his app!
(If you feel adventurous you can attempt using the google play store release, but I had no such luck.)
I had originally tried to use Super Sume version 6.5 with Kingo Root but, it just ended up losing my root access and I had to re-root my device.
Yesterday I attempted to run Super Sume v. 9.2.6 I believe, but for some reason it didn't recognize it Kingo, or Kingroot as being installed on my device.
So I ended up uninstalling it and trying an older version I had read worked, and it succeeded!
Instructions for obtaining Root & Migrating over to Super Su are as follows.
If you are currently rooted using Kingo Root, un-root from within the Kingo app 'Superuser' and proceed to uninstall the rest of their apps..
Install & run Kingroot 4.5; When this is finished, restart your phone and run an app to verify you have root. (I use the free version of Root Checker.)
This may not be necessary but at this point I re-installed Busybox.
Install & run Super Sume v6.7
Restart & Verify Root!
:fingers-crossed: Success! :highfive:
If for some reason your device failed to achieve root using Kingroot after removal of Kingoroot; you may have better luck leaving your device rooted with all the Kingo Root apps installed until after you install Kingroot.
(Although I'm sure most people would advise against it, I actually skipped the un-root/un-installation procedure until after I had installed Kingroot 4.5 because I my battery was at 9%)
Honestly it shouldn't really matter though Super Sume is supposed to remove everything like that anyways
Required APK's can be found below.
4/12/23-Edit: Replaced broken links with working ones from my google drive.
Kingroot 4.5.apk
Super Sume 6.7.apk

Hi, I would really like to appreciate your efforts for this but the links you gave at the end are not working so I am unable to even try your given method.

Sorry about that, I went ahead and put them on my google drive. Let me know if it works out for you.
Fyi, this method worked for me on a sprint sm-t217s galaxy tab 3 7.0 running kitkat 4.4.2 baseband OH1..

Glad to hear it!
I figured it would probably work on all the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 variants but I only have the AT&T model.
If you don't want to flash your system(or can't in my case) this is probably the next best thing.
Worked for me on my AT&T SM-T217A on 4.4.2 T217AUCUCNI1 & T217AUCUCNI2
Thank you!

I know this thread is quite old but it helped me get back on track thanks to r4e_hafintosh and his great instructions. I am working with a Galaxy 3 7.0 SM-T217A (AT&T) version. Wasn't working right so I did a full reset. Tried to get TWRP installed and things went to hell quickly. Biggest problem then was finding a stock 4.2.2 and/or 4.4.2. I finally located both here: https://androidfilehost.com/?w=search&s=T217A so I was able to use the repair files and get back to stock 4.4.2. Then I followed instructions from r4e_hafintosh to get KingRoot installed along with BusyBox. I'm currently waiting for SuperSUMe to install and it appears I'm back on track. Thanks to r4e_hafintosh, the unknown person who posted the repair files and everyone who has posted at XDA and other Android sites that allowed me to finally hunt down what I needed. Probably a small victory for those much more well versed in customizing ROMs but I big win for me. Hopefully the next person trying to find stock files for the AT&T SM-T217A will find this post as well. Thanks all!
How can we unlock bootloader for it
