I was attempting to upgrade the Hyperdrive ROM from RLS15 to RLS17 as it notified me there was an update available. I went through all of the steps in CWM and Aroma and everything seemed to install properly but now when I try to load the phone I get the Samsung Galaxy logo and then it goes to a distorted blue screen and freezes. I can not boot into recovery but I can get to the bootloader to try to fix this with Odin. I just don't know what files I need to fix this or what I need to do. Can anyone help me? I was originally on M919UVUFNB4 before I flashed Hyperdrive RLS15.
You can get the 4.4.2 firmware here:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
That's what you're on if you were on nb4.
Use Odin to flash back to stock while in download mode.
Then you can start your rooting adventure over again.

Hey thanks for the link!!!! I was actually trying to do exactly what you recommended however I was trying to download the firmware from http://samsung-updates.com and every time it would get to the end of the DL after 2hrs and it would fail. sammobile was exactly what I needed and I am back up and running!

Hi everyone. I am on the stock rom UVALH2, rooted, with a custom kernel. Can someone please help me flash back the proper kernel so I can update to JB?!
I will be in debt to you forever..
I just tried the OTA update to the newest kernel which failed and brought me to CWM. What do I need to do here?
You must be UVALJ4 to use the ota.
I suggest using odin w/ the fw I have in my fw/ota thread.

I'll have to try that. I flashed my old UVALH2 kernel back and then went to update. Downloaded the 335mb file but the signature verification failed and it booted to CWM. Is it because I am rooted or not on the latest UVAXXX?
Just go to Samsung updates download the whole Odin tar and just Odin it.. That's the best way

Faster to download it from my thread. Plus root66 is out too!

Found the FW thread. Need help extracting the .tar from the .7z file I downloaded. I also have Odin ready to go as well.
I'm a little confused here guys. I'm on Doc's Firmware thread and I've downloaded Odin. I also have downloaded root66_TMO_T999UVDLJA.7z . However I'm stuck on how I extract the .tar file from that?
Download and install 7zip and use it to extract.

Okay doing that now. Now it seems when my phone is in CWM odin doesn't pickup/recognize the phone. However when the phone is on normally odin detects it.
-----Look Below-----
Going to do a full rundown so anyone can help me here. When I originally rooted the phone I used some type of tooklit (Looked like a green version of MS-DOS). I've always had the stock rom. I've always used CWM to flash different kernels. Right now in About Phone I'm on baseband T999UVLH2 with kernel version [email protected] #1
I'm trying to get Jelly Bean 4.1 as a clean install. Not worried about keeping root at the moment either. I have root66_TMO_T999UVDLJA.tar.md5 downloaded which I am trying to push through Odin. However when I reboot my phone into CWM and connect the USB cable Odin doesn't recognize my phone. I'm willing to try anything at this point as this is frustrating me beyond belief.
You need download mode not recovery.
Same procedure but vol down instead.
Hold volume down, home and power to boot into download mode. Press vol up when prompted. Then odin will work.

I feel so stupid.. Thank you for that as well! (Can I buy you a beer?) Okay I did that Odin is now pushing root66_TMO_T999UVDLJA.tar.md5. After this is done will Jelly Bean be on the phone? Should I wipe anything to get rid of the old firmware/files?
Success! Android 4.1.1 is now running with what appears to be the most updated kernel/baseband! Now should I do any type of wipe to get rid of any old files that could slow the phone down? What happens to the old firmware stuff?

Factory wipe under CWM? Will it make me lose my apps/contact info? I suppose I could always do a titanium backup.
Factory reset wiil wipe apps and user data. Not necessary but I do recommend it when updating android. Just makes for reduced potential for problems.
Reset in cwm or twrp does not wipe internal sd. Stock recovery will though.

If you downloaded the root66 zip file you just use winrar and choose extract. It will or at least should unzip to its own folder. After that just follow the directions to use Odin.
Hello, so today i was getting a play market error so i decided to flash another recovery, as mine is the earliest versions of TWRP, so i went ahead and flashed it with Odin. It was successful, but wouldn't boot into recovery. So i went ahead and tried to flash another recovery and now it says NAND write fail. Is it bricked ?
It still boots to 4.2.2 AOSP, but i have no root so can't flash recovery.
I AM OFFICIALLY SCREWED !
After getting out of download mode, it wouldnt boot anymore. Firmware upgrade issue. !
I would say buy a usb jig from eBay. Much faster and cheaper than anything else. It forces the phone to go to download mode and from then you can go to Odin and flash stock.

Edit: I found it but it's 1.6 GB.. Waiting 10mins
Edit: Weird, but after trying to flash top 3 famous recoveries, they all failed. So i went back and flashed the original recovery and it succeeded!

IDK how yours failed. Just a few days ago, I flashed TWRP after trying out the new CWM, and everything went great.

if you can get into d/l mode, you have it whipped.
Here's the TWRP 2.5.0.2 file:
https://hotfile.com/dl/230303459/7ce1553/openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.2-jfltexx.tar.html
Install with ODIN.
Steps to follow........
Method #1 -
Place file in PDA box*
Uncheck all other boxes.
Press start.
When installation is complete, unplug usb cord and pull the battery.
Insert the battery but Don't turn on the phone.
Place phone in Recovery mode via the Power + Volume up buttons.
Method #2 -
The other way I've read to install TWRP Recovery is:
Place the TWRP 2.5.0.2 tar in the PDA box*
Check the auto reboot box and f time reset box.
Start the installation and let the phone reboot.
I believe Method #2 is the method of choice, but sometimes the Recovery doesn't take, so Method #1is recommended.
Here is an explanation why:

Hi,
as in the title - I tried to flash TWRP via GooManager. When I tried to get into recovery, it stacked at the samsung logo... i cant boot into recovery nor system. Download mode is the only option that works.
How to fix it?
phone: N7105
On download mode try to flash stock Samsung firmware using odin.
Damn... stock roms are uploaded mostly on hotfile.com, which is shut down...
I can't find any other mirror for Polish stock rom... Does anyone have it on the hard drive and could upload it? I would be greatfull...
Ok, I found stock rom. But now, I have bootloop... I'm downloading another stock rom and will see.
Any other ideas how to bring him life again?

Thank You so much! It worked
I flashed TWRP onto my phone and it went fine and I flashed a rom and it was all going good. But now it's stuck on a screen that says " Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again." but when I try to use kies it can't find a device. I've tried flashing a custom recovery again and resetting my phone but I can't get any of that to work. Any tips?

That means you have a knox enabled bootloader and that bootloader is expecting a matching or newer firmware to be flashed.

What do I need to do to fix it? What firmware should I flash for the tmobile variant. and afterwards can I still root and flash a custom rom?
Try flashing 4.3 or 4.4 from sammobile:

Yes you can still root with cf autoroot. And you will be able to flash a custom ROM.

I have searched the forums and found issues similar to mine but not exact. I was running 4.4.2 and hated the memory card issue and tried to downgrade back to 4.3. I have done this before and also rooted and unrooted my note 2 so I am fairly familiar, how ever something happened this time. I can boot into downloading but not recovery and when I turn on my phone I get stuck in boot loop, have tried flashing in odin and always fails, just read that due to knox 4.4.2 cant be downgraded. any help would be appreciated. I even tried just to flash the stock 4.4.2 to no avail
