Better off flashing AOKP. Makes it look nothing like the terrible Sony Ericson UI

Why use aokp? Why not stock aosp?

Trust me, it's next to impossible to brick the Play.
I've had about 4 failed flashes, all salvaged

If you follow the right tutorials which is very easy, there's no problem bricking your phone, you start memorizing all the steps and it becomes normal.

Seriously, it never bricks. I failed to flash my phone correctly 6 times in a row, because I kept typing in the wrong commands in fastboot, and I still didn't brick my play. Just make sure you have an unlocked bootloader
The ICS Update will break NOVA2 though.

Who cares? I feel that nova 3 should be playable on ics. It looks like it will be a good game on ios.

Then just try flashing it. As long as you follow the tutorials closely, it's extremely hard to brick. Even if you do brick, just post here, explaining the situation, and someone will help you.

^^ inferring from that, we'll be lucky to get it late June/early July... however, for us verizon r800xers out there, we'll be lucky to get it by June/early July of 2018.

There is already a thread for boot animations.
This post will make a better impact there.
You give him a request.
He might make one for you.
If it already exists, then try it.
Yes but no answers for three weeks
I find lot of this hootanimation but not for galaxy s3

Try Google search or learn how to make it yourself or if its posted mod it for I9300 .

Let's put it simple.
If I buy a regular G Pad 8.3 (from europe), after the rom files from google are available, will it be possible to upgrade to the google firmware just like it is on the S4 (and HTC One?!?) ??
Sorry if my question is confusing. Hope not.

Reading other threads seems to indicate there may be bootloader-related issues, so at the very least a custom kernel will be required.

[DISCUSSION] CyanogenMod 11/KitKat [BOOTS!]

Hey,
I've created this thread to ask everyone who owns this device (be it the H, the F or just the A3000 variants) for help.
Long story short: Lenovo did publish the kernel source, but it's incomplete and therefore not compilable.
Using a prebuilt zImage, I have managed to build an (actually) fully working CWM. But that's of no use if we have nothing to flash.
Now, what can you do?
a) Prove me wrong and point me to a complete kernel ☺
b) "Force" Lenovo to publish complete sources by spamming them with Emails or something similar on social networks. Believe me or not - this could seriously work.
c) If you're a developer willing to collaborate - PM me.
Thanks.

Current state (as of 25/11/2014)
It boots!
I don't think CM has been ported over to the A3000. I hope there will be a custom ROM available for this device soon, as there are currently none...
What the point of publishing incomplete source code?

I knew that MediaTek did not want to release driver updates (for Android 4.3/4.4) of its mobile SoC, MediaTek MT8389 (I do not know for what strange reasons).
This problem is well known to the owners of ASUS MemoPad HD 7, that has similar SoC (MT8125)!

ASUS has replied to different users that could not update Android for this reason.
I suppose then that MediaTek is our target... and its not a good thing...

OK. But how about Octa ROM? Is it possible to port it to A3000 if I get the source?
Sad to see something halt because of money..
Since this is an open source activity, why we don't make a "call for volunteers"?

All cyanogen based roms don't show some games in playstore?

Hey guys quick question before I rooted my phone and all the good stuff. I bought Hitman Sniper it is a great game played hours of it. But then I wanted to try cyanogenmod and eventually I fell in love with the Exodus MM rom. Has everything I need and is overall a great rom. But I noticed any or all cyanogen mod based roms this game does not show up in the playstore. Shows up in playgames app. But when I click it says not available for this device. Is there a fix for this. I tried googling got no threads or answers relating to this issues. Any help would be appreciated guys..
Edit: I figured it out you need to find this line in build prop.
ro.build.flavor=(Example) will be different depending on rom.
and change and add the line g3_global_com-user after the =
so end product should look like this. ro.build.flavor=g3_global_com-user
Now I can find all the games and apps on playstore. Phew didn't want to go back to stock hate the icons so much. Perfect phone now peace!!!
