[Stock TW 4.4.2] Security policy update... Wtf - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Anyone else gets constantly annoyed be the "Security policy update" notification ever since we got 4.4.2?
I keep on declining their ToS because I'm not interested but it keeps coming every other day.
Is there any way to get rid of it without accepting it?
And what exactly is this anyway?

Interested to know whether this simple process is sufficient. I imagine you also need to completely shut down GFE if re-rooting at any time - what's the easiest way to do that? Ideally someone can develop a GFEOff+Root toggle!

Or ... Just why would I care what the company wants .. If its my phone . If the company wants me to have an unrooted phone they can issue me one . If the phone belongs to the company i can understand them not wanting it modded in any way though .
Rooted or jail broken devices are a security risk an hence not allowed at many companies for BYOD..
Just removing su didn't help
Sent from my SGH-I317M using Tapatalk 2
same byod policy at my company too. no jailbroken iphones/ipads and no rooted and non-stock rom android phones/tablets.
but....why the hell would i ever want to make my personal device take work emails? that's why they gave me a blackberry.
Try removing su then factory reset see if that helps
lol
here ya go.. a root/unroot button.

Getting rid of OTA notification?

Hi guys, just got my S4 Wednesday and I love it. Rooted it and installed TWRP immediately. I'm on UAMDB and don't want to upgrade.
The notification to update keeps popping up and I can't post pone it anymore. Any ideas how to get rid of it? Thanks!

yeah I was going to ask - since this isnt 4.3, and I'm not rooted / unlocked, if this was safe to take for stability's sake. I guess I'll wait to see if it changes anything big before accepting it :fingers-crossed:

Lol well if it ends up messing up your chances of an exploit there's always Colorado This is why I'm sending mine to Sonic. I don't want to have to worry about this kind of BS from Verizon anymore.
Also, has anyone experienced lock ups at all? I haven't.
No update for me checking manually. When it does come through, we can pull the update.zip and post it here and make a flashable update for those of us unlocked and still on Sense.

So what's the bottom line for those of us with locked-down phones? If we still hold out hope for an exploit, even after 4.3 drops, is it advisable to refuse this OTA when it shows up on our phones?

Yes, defer the OTA as long as possible until we know that there is indeed no pending exploit waiting until after 4.3 release.
Nobody take it. You do not know what they fixed or if HTC found some exploit already.
When they say they will include ISIS, is that with tap and pay? From the other thread I had come to understand tap to pay would not work because we do not have a Secure Element in our NFC, unless you get a SIM with this included. Or is ISIS different?
IF you want a CHANCE at root
do NOT take ANY OTA..
Rule of thumb
I have two wishes from this update.
1. Fix the camera.
2. A Dev ports it for us people who are S-OFF'd or rooted.
edit: Or I guess I could have read the patch update text from Androidpolice.com. Boo.
Camera fix isn't until 4.3 update according to HTC.

Don't companies sometimes do a small update before a major one to help prepare your device? I seem to remember that happening for a different phone back in the day. Maybe this is a pre 4.3 update.

In all likelihood, you already have one. Unless you're using a SIM from your phone from like two years ago, its been replaced. My GN had a secure SIM in it. Here's an article describing it: LINK Then of course, from what Ive read ISIS still only works reliably in the test markets in Utah and Texas.
Bell/Virgin Mobile and Tellis Mobile in Canada got carrier otas today. (not 4.3 ).

Its entirely possible. I don't think we'll see the 4.3 update for 2-3 weeks. I'm going to be sending my phone to sonic tomorrow after work so I won't have to worry about losing root but I wouldn't accept the update until after 4.3 is released if you want to have a chance at exploits.

[Q] Ways to prevent new OTA (33 MB) from installing after it's downloaded?

So apparently VZ pushed out the update to my phone this morning. When I saw it, it was just finishing "downloading firmware". Damn. Then it asked to schedule a time to install. For now I put 11 pm tonight and did NOT check the install automatically box.
Is there anything I can do at this point to ensure it won't install?

Appreciate the input. I did do a search beforehand and I didn't come across any solution for us who bought the phone after Verizon locked up the HTC Dev method.

That's good to hear... So the process won't go ahead unless you manually click yes? I definitely did not click the "install automatically" box. But my past experience with VZ OTA updates was that they will push it through regardless if they wish (thinking back to the Thunderbolt update that took away free tethering). Basically, there would be very short window (say one a minute or so) where you had to deny the update process. The thing was, VZ would pop up these requests at random time intervals, seemingly disregarding the scheduled time you set. It was just downright mean...
Mine started up this morning too. Definitely don't want this. I'm completely stock and locked down myself.

I thought about that, but I'm in no hurry to start switching ROMs especially after reading about people not being able to make calls all of a sudden. Granted there was a fix found, but it's just too much work for me. Besides, this phone won't be locked down forever.

that should stop it right?

New update G925TUVU3DOI

I have just recevied a new update its a 59mb only
its include samsung pay
Is that the only change? I got it to but already had Samsung pay so I'm not sure what else changed.
Only thing that changed is the build number from U2 TO U3
Sammobile had an article about u2 to u3 was going to be a major update. Lol its probably just Samsung pay as we can see here
Thats mean we will se android 6 very soon on Galaxy s6 edge
Samsung pay will not open. It just sits and says loading. Anybody else with the same issue or does it open for you?

May be the beta has been closed?
It's going to be released to the public on Sept 28, maybe they are rolling it out a bit early to make sure we all have it. Then activate it when it's released.
Edited: tmobile on its website says the update is for "Various bug fixes and improvements".
Samsung pay had an update to include features like swipe up when the screen is off and others. This is Samsung actually sticking to the release date. The major update is 6.0 and should be release shortly after the announcement. Sammy and Android know they fall behind timely updates so its only going to improve in speed.
