no, its norlt even depleting when it turns off, usually when it turns off, its just stuck on samsung logo screen,
have to take out the battery to turn it on again.

What happens when you get into download or recovery mode? Does it do the same? Sounds like you may have a stuck power button

i can get to recovery mode and all, i tried wipe cache on
recovery mode and still nothing.
yes, i think its on power button, but after i searched how to fix it
most people will just slam their power button to a hard surface
to fix it.

Do you use a protective case?
Sounds like a physical thing on the power button...

No I mean if it reboots as well after 10-25 minutes in recovery or download mode like it does when booted normally. That would confirm that its likely a power button issue

Are you using GT-I9500? If so this is the wrong forum.. But what I would do is backup all my personal files, important messages etc. flash stock firmware with Odin, reboot to recovery and factory reset. That fixes many problems, but I don't know somehow I keep thinking something is up with that power button.. Or you could try what you said earlier and smash your power button lol

I would prefer it be Samsung if your device is still under warranty, if not then a local shop may be more convenient

Galaxy S3 Won't Power On

Hi , I'm having problems with my Galaxy T999. I have rooted and have not yet installed any kernels/roms. The only thing i did was installed a couple apps from the play store . and wanted to check out the CWM recovery menu and was going to try to installed "hyperX camera mod". First thing i did was shut off the phone . Then pressed on the Volume up+Home+Power button . After doing that my phone didn't turn on or anything , no vibration or anything . I hooked it on with my computer and press the power button and it was able to connect and then disconnected. I am at lost now and can't seem to find any answer . Have looked every where not sure what to do now. Any solution will be much appreciated .
***
It seems to disconnect due to no driver found for QHUSUB_DLOAD .
Without any solutions I'll probably gonna get my phone replace . T_T
Does your phone disconnect immediately, or does it stay connected for a brief amount of time? If it stays connected briefly, try using adb during this period to boot into recovery. The command is "adb reboot recovery" (without the quotes).

Try to remove your battery then plug in charger. See if you can turn on. If you can turn it on, leave it 30 minutes. Then put in the battery.
By the looks of the result the computer gives you when you plug it in, seems it is hard bricked! Are you sure you didn't flash anything from the I9300 section like a rom?
Sent from my SGH-T999
The hyper x camera mod isnt entirely for our phone. I've read that it's flashable to our phone though, so I'm not sure what's going on here. Maybe the OP needs to link where he got the mod. Ih and stay away from the intl version all together.

Yup its a paperweight. The Intl version has the system partition in a different place. So you borked an important one.
Only thing that's throwing me off is that the OP suggests he didn't actually get around to flashing the mod.

SGS3 T999v wont start up.
My sgs3 t999v would turn off by itself every other time I hit the lock button.
like I would be txting and then if I hit the lock button it would turn off.
So I though a factory reset would fix the problem. (volume up + home).
after the reset it still kept turning off randomly.
and now I cant even get it to the normal interface. or get in to the manual reset mode.
Device was previously jail broken, however was returned back to stock and was working fine for 3 months.
I had my otterbox on for every fall my phone had, so I dont think it would be a hardware issue.
the phone was running 4.1.1 I believe.
stock rom.
help please! :C

Can you get download mode? (Volume down, HOME and power)
Even though you have a case on it, it sounds like it was probably damaged by one of the falls. Most cases as far as I'm aware mostly protect the display. The shock from impact can still damage internal components, even with a case built with this in mind.

Hey thanks for replying!
I drained the battery and got a new charge in it and managed to get it booted up
however now the problem of the lock button is still here.
like if i use it to lock my screen it just turns off on me, and it takes multiple times for me to get the phone up and running again.
you could see if you could find a widget or widgets that will basically put a button on your screen that can power off, enable lock screen, reboot recovery/download, etc.
Then just use the HOME button to turn the screen back on.
It sounds to me like a hardware problem, but if you can flash another Rom and do a full wipe/factory reset you'll know for sure.
I hope this helps. Not sure what else you can do besides getting it repaired or replaced unfortunately.
Maybe someone else will have a better idea though.

try this it will boot your phone into recovery automatically as long as your computer recognizes your phone. just open up the application bat file on computer within 2-3 secs it boots you straight to recovery. good luck.

i think this must be it... cus i managed to get it to boot, and everything loaded fine. but as soon as it got past the boot animation, the toggle that has power off, screenshot, etc (the thing that pops up when you hold the power button on) comes up immediatly.
how can i fix this bs?
Either you have a defective button or you need to clean it because it might be getting stuck for some apparent reason .
ok so i for sure have a stuck power button... im gonna go to t-Mobile tomorrow to try to get this sorted out.
thing is, im on the latest AOKP nightly, are they gonna **** me over on my insurance policy (the like 3-4 bucks you pay a month to tmobile) cus I rooted my phone?

Mostly likely yes if the tmobile knows its not stock. They could say it was your fault by saying you put a defective rom on your phone that's not factory. They try to get out of s**t all the time. But you could get lucky. But if I were you I would restore it to factory before I took it to the store. Just to be on the safe side.

Phone keeps rebooting/vibrate pulsing

Okay I flashed stock ICS thru ODIN. did a factory restore in the stock recovery. Still no help. I even downgraded to gingerbread with odin and did a factory restore through stock recovery again. still the phone keeps RESTARTING OVER AND OVER AND OVER..... I dont know what to do. Whats going on??? any help would be much appreciated

I took it to a repair shop, where I was told to send it to Samsung to do a heavy-duty root. The power button does need to be replaced because there is no spring when you push down on it. I have no idea if there's a root glitch. Has anyone sent their phone to Samsung? What happened? Are there alternatives?
Thank you!

It was amazing, I had the same problem but all i did was open up the back up undoing all the tiny screws and then took a can on compressed air and sprayed out the power button and its been working for more than a month now with the problem completely gone! try that first before sending to sammy.
Ok I am in the same boat. My device does not boot up, it will get to Samsung logo and restart half the time and the other half just vibrates every 2 seconds. I removed the battery while plugged in and it still vibrates. I took it apart and blew the power button with compressed air and nothing. Here is the funny thing if I bang the hell out of it, it almost boots up. Is there something that I can do less than sending it to Sammy ? If not I will sell it on craigslist for parts.

Same thing here. Only way to get it to power on is by hitting it, the harder the better it seems. After it turns on, touching the power button will make it go in to the restart loop 90% of the time. This sucks!
For me this started after I dropped my phone...with the case on and on carpet. I have also opened it up and sprayed with compressed air to no avail.

Hi Folks,
I had the same problem, the problem started when I dropped my fone on carpeted floor, here are symptoms
Fone restarts on its own, start the boot, inbetween the boot starts again, then, keeps vibrating every two seconds, you have to pull the battery out to stop it,
As soon as you put the battery back in, it restarts, again getting stuck, and then vibrating every two secods,
Here is what i did
- Cursed Samsung for making a sh***y phone - Didnt work
- Smacked my phone with whatever I could fine - Didnt work
- Opened all the screws up, took apart phone, pulled out the power button module (pcb), noticed power button was loose, put some glue into it, dried it, put it back, & ITS BEEN WORKING SINCE THEN ! It was a hardware fault, its not software !
Just my two cents, it worked in my case, I cannot guarantee if it will in your case too, try at your own risk !!

Same issue with SGH-M919. I was rooted and the rom I tried to use wouldn't work because the kernel caused some issues so I figured I would go back to stock. The device wouldn't go into recovery mode, so I flashed the stock rom via Odin. After the ROM loaded, the phone reset and I saw the Samsung screen then it rebooted and so on each time. It's not the power button as it works, has the spring feel to it and the phone would come one by itself if it was broken. So what can I do or am I in trouble?
Also, the phone will vibrate every 2 seconds

Sure, the power button will "work", but if it's constantly vibrating and rebooting, it's probably an issue with the power button. Do what it shows in the video I posted, and if you do it right it'll probably fix it. I gad to attempt it twice as it didn't fix it the first time, but it's been like 4 months and I haven't had an issue since.
Thank you but it was the kernel causing problems. Somehow, the new ROM messed up the partitions and subsequently required a full wipe including all data then I flashed the stock ROM back via Odin and it was fine. I rooted it again and flashed Bliss Pop 1.8 and I love that ROM. No issues at all. Thanks for the help. I'm slowly learning about ROMs and Linux etc.. I appreciate the help. Does anyone have any advice as to how I can learn more??? Where do I post to get past this 10 posts rule???

Phone Not Booting - LG E988

Guys I am in serious trouble. While restoring EFS. After reboot My phone not booting up, I tried to hard reset but no luck, I tried to put into download mode but it is not booting. Just dead black screen.
Any one have an idea how to fix or put into download mode or reboot.
To put it in download mode, hold both volume buttons for like 5 seconds. Then plug it in as you are holding them. Don't release the buttons for a min... Or until the "Download Mode" screen appears. Hope this helps

If you can't get into download mode then you are hard bricked and the only way of solving the problem is probably JTAG. Are you sure the battery is charged??? If you charge your phone does the screen turn on???

How to J tag the Phone - Lg G pro E988 ?

Screen always on

Alright, so here's the deal:
After much searching, and a few new grey hairs, I've arrived at the point where I feel a new thread is justified. Recently, after a SlimKat flash, my screen lost the ability to turn off, and stay off. Typically, invoking a lock screen and having the appropriate timeouts set will allow the screen to sleep, but my phone is no longer behaving this way.
When I lock the screen, or the screen locks based on settings, instead of it staying off until I press the power button, it continually comes back on, displays the lockscreen, then turns off...then back on again...repeat ad-nauseam.
Please help before I launch this SOB off of a bridge.
full wipe and reflash the rom. If that doesnt work flash back to stock to make sure you didnt bug up the hardware

I've done 4 full wipes + ROMs.
Looks like I'll be going back to stock. I'll update when/if this resolves.

If going back to fully stock don't fix it then it's most likely a stuck power button. I've read about a few of them sicking in, and causing problems...

The power button appears to function on/off as it should. Midway through stock ROMing. Looking around, trying to remember the fix for download mode not recognizing volume rockers. Soon...

They are only inactive on the screen requiring a press to enter download mode. I've had it happen before on an older Galaxy.
I'm using this method. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2275844
Once done, I'm going to verify lockscreen operation, then probably flash away once again. This was an odd issue, to be sure. Never seen anything quite like it over numerous phones/roms/years.
Somewhat of an issue...can't boot to Download to get root; can't run rebooter app without root to get to download mode. LOL
Plugging away, but lockscreen appears to work with OEM ROM.

Appreciated, and a bit ahead of ya. Just let Kies do its thang while I went out for lunch. Back to messing with the device for a few.
I think the lock is back to normal.
Edit: Nope. Hardware is all that's left at this point.

Thanks for the help, BTW. Shame it isn't closer to my contract renewal on the hardware front.
