I tried it but I couldn't enter the recovery mod on the phone, that's why I thought it is locked. Actually I tried different sim card and it worked so I don't understand. If the phone locked why I can use another SIM card and if it is unlocked why I cannot enter the recovery mod ( I tried 10 times)

You don't need to enter recovery. Towelroot is an .apk (app) just install like any other app. Open it, hit the button and reboot. Recovery is there it's just annoying to get to is all.

I tried it as well several time and with the Root checking application from play store it showed that my device is not rooted. Is it because my device is the Korean version, it need a different tool?
It should work on the Korean version yes. -- Once you hit "Make it Ra1n" you need to open SuperSU straight away (grab from Playstore) then reboot.
this towelroot doesnt work on G3 F400K30G, i tried it now
Still looking for a new way.

Hi, I've recently rooted my Xperia Play (r800x, locked bootloader), I had CWM recovery working at first, I used RecoverX. Recovery worked fine until I reflashed because of something stupid I tried to do (completely different story). Of course I realized that I would have to put CWM back on my device, so I used RecoverX again, but this time it didn't seem to work, just out of nowhere, I can't boot my phone in to recovery like I could before. So I took a swing at using X-parts, still, no avail. I don't know what I'm doing wrong now, I've hit a brick wall... CWM just wont work, and I've tried booting into it using X-parts and physically turning of my device and repeatedly taping volume down... Any suggestions?
You could try using X parts version 5

I cant seem to find an updated guide with files to root and install a custome recovery on the sprint note 2 with 4.3 can someone help me find a link or get me the files etc?

I went to cyanogenmods website and ran the installer as directed. That installed cyanogenmod and rooted the device automatically, then you can download and flash any of the other custom ROMs on this site.

Do this
1. Boot into download/bootloader mode.
2. Connect to pc and use odin to flash twrp. Make sure you uncheck reboot and flash twrp in the pda slot.
3. Once flashed pull battery and disconnect from pc.
4. Press vol+ menu power buttons while inserting battery (yes it is difficult but can be done)
5. Now in recovery perform factory reset.
6. Flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36388145
7. Now reboot it will act/look weird but dont worry this is normal. It will reboot and take a long time to boot.
Now you are on stock mc2 (no knox anymore). Root using cf autoroot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33278464
Now use odin once again and flash your recovery again. Now you are rooted and have a custom recovery. Oh and you have a working phone again.

Before I do all of that...I discovered I can boot into TWRP and updated it to the newest version. Then I installed the cyanogen nightly onto the phone. Everything seemed to be working ok except I couldn't get any phone signal but wifi worked. I tried loading the dirty unicornes rom and the same thing happened . I then flashed cm 10.1 and the phone worked for calls but the asop keyboard kept crashing and couldn't login to the wifi network. I tried several installs with factory resets with the same results. If I follow the directions you listed will I be able to install these roms and the phone work for calls or am I missing another piece of the puzzle?

Hello, in service menu it says my boot loader can't be unlocked so don't tell me to use cwm, I rooted with framaroot and it works fine but when I mount etc as r/w my phone instantly reboots, and possibly more folders too, didn't come across any more, is there a solution for this? And what's wrong, thanks
Bro your phone is half rooted that's why it keeps booting when u mount it as r/w. Download the remount/reboot fix from the given link and unzip it, (connect your phone to your pc) and run the "install.bat" and select superSu app and then follow the instructions on command prompt.
Link- http://d-h.st/fbt
One more thing, download and install busybox before using the fix from play store.

I'm currently running the stock Rom with build E98020h. I have successfully achieved root access and have verified it through several apps, and also have supersu installed and seemingly operating fine. I have tried using the 'g pro kitkat recovery' app to flash the recovery, and also freegee but freegee at the opening screen says my device is unsupported. When i go into rom manager v5.5.3.7 and try install a custom rom or even just tap boot to recovery i get an error at the loading screen with the LG logo and it sits there. Am i doing something wrong or is the 20h update keeping me from being to successfully reach recovery? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

You could try using LG Flash Tool to go back to stock 4.1.2 (E98010k) and then using FreeGee to bypass and go from there. But idk if that'll work.

I don't think that's possible. You're going to have to flash back to an older version using lg flash tools. If you need to back up anything like texts and contacts, use G Cloud. If you need game data/other data related to specific apps backed up, use Helium. If you're attached to stock try flashing a stock ROM, it will be very similar to your experience now. That'll ensure you get the latest KitKat and still get stock experience... you can always go AOSP too.
thanks... I was hoping to just not have to Flashtools my phone again =P and since its been a while since I checked the forums I wasnt sure if 20h was sorted out yet or not.

I found this elsewhere trying to unlock my e980 that was on 20h when I got it.
OK so I found that G Pro KK recovery elsewhere and installed it but wasn't sure what to do from there.. Which option did you choose when running it? Flash recovery, reboot, or reboot recovery? I tried to reboot to recovery and I got into a CWM recovery, but at that point wasn't sure if I was really there or if I needed to flash the recovery from there or from the app.
I'm dying to get rid of the stock ROM on this thing but there are more steps involved than my previous devices.

All the APK does as I have found out is 'unlocks' the recovery access. After I ran that app I installed Freegee from the app store and installed the CMW recovery from there just to make sure it all was installed and correctly accessible. at that point you just need to download the ROM that you are intending to install and download it. put the zip somewhere in your directory. boot to recovery wipe the necessary mediums and then install from the app and CWM will take care of the rest. Most of the forum threads that have the links to the ROMs will have full instructions on how to install that certain ROM. I can supply links to some if need be. NOT MY THREADS but ones I found helpful.

What process did you do after starting up the G Pro Recovery app? install recovery, reboot, then run freegee?

Yes. Open and run the G Pro Recovery app, once that is done you need to reboot. Install Freegee and open it. I installed CWM. You can use whatever you want. Then I reboot again, once the phone comes back up I used clockwork mods recovery manager to get in and out of recovery. Also, I pulled my SD card out of the phone prior to rooting as I would lose access to it after I did the process. So just to be safe you might want to do that.

Once you take the update then root your device again you have to do a factory reset on your phone in order to flash a recovery. Currently running E98020I, been there, done that! G Pro KitKat then FreeGee. Mic check 1 2, 1 2

I used odin and downloaded the img.tar file for my G928T

Connect in download mode and simply load up the tar file and apply it, it should reboot into TRWP recovery automatically. Volume up + power + home button to manually boot into it.
