I just bumped up to Omni metal 4.4.2 from Eclipse 4.1.2 and for some reason I can't get titanium to restore my calendar. I go into the backup/restore tab, find calendar, click and hit restore. I've tried restoring data+app and data on its own. It says restore completed but my events are not showing up in calendar app.
Anyone know why this is happening? Any other good way to back up calendar?

So I recently installed a new ROM and used mybackup root instead of titanium as the automated re installations of my apps was very tempting. However, upon trying to restore, it restored about 5 of my total apps. It lists all my apps in the program and just says: Nothing Restored. Is there a way to fix it? Or I was thinking if I installed Titanium could that somehow find all the backed up apps and reinstall them?
You can go to "SD CARD\rerware\MyBackup\" and there you should see the .apk's for all the apps you backed up. I haven't tried myself, but i'm pretty sure you could just install them. Might take a bit longer, but I'm not sure about the cross-compatibility between the 2 programs.
What about contacts? How do you back up those?

Those should be syncing automatically with your google account. Go into your gmail account and click on contacts on the side.
Will this work even if the contact says phone only?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
No, those you must manually backup, or you could add them to your Google contact list and then they will be backed up automatically upon sync.
Ok, thanks

I went from the stock rom to juggernaut today for the second time, and this time, some of my contacts are gone. I used to have about 200, now I'm down to 41. I have a backup of the stock rom that I did last night, but is there an easier way than reflashing that rom, saving the contacts, reflashing the juggernaut rom, and restoring the contacts?
Always sync your contacts with your google account so that no matter which rom you flash youll always have your updated list.

As someone who keeps flashing different roms, titanium backup is a life saver. One thing I can't get it to do is restore all my texts each flash. Anyone have any suggestions for an app that can do this?

Mybackup root from the play store. You can backup SMS, MMS, APN settings, call logs, and other settings. I use it for those mentioned above.

Titanium Backup backs up and restores my text messages successfully with each rom flash I do.
I use sms backup +
It backs up sms/mms/call logs to your gmail account so its good in that I can limit the number of aged texts sitting on my phone knowing everything is backed up and also I can use gmail search to find any aged text I want quickly.
The auto backup feature is also handy once its set you can forget about it.
Restoring is also quick and easy.

After flashing a new ROM and opening S Note, I see all my notes for a second then a dialog box pops up and says syncing. After about 5 seconds all my notes are erased. I have a nandroid backup and all my stuff backed up through Titanium, but no matter what I seem to do they get erased upon opening S Note for the first time. I've tried turning airplane mode on first, deleting the Samsung account and somehow it still syncs and deletes all the notes. Since I have this backed up, is there any way to extract the notes from either the nandroid or the Titanium backup? Thanks!

Are the notes not synced then on your Samsung account? I know little of the SNote sync functionality, but if they are properly synced to your samsung account up front (this of course assumes things are working on samsungs end) all should be well. On the surface it sounds like there are no SNotes stored on your samsung account so it is syncing an empty SNote list to your phone. I am of limited help on this though - sorry!
Is there an s Note folder in your internal sd card? I don't have a Samsung account, but when mine syncs that what it us syncing with. It's basically just updating the app

Yeah the folder is empty. I'm assuming it erased all of it, and a nandroid backup wouldn't include those files. I had turned sync off before because this happened in the past, and sure enough I accidentally enabled s note sync in this most recent flash and it erased them all instead of copying them to the server like it should have. Grrrrrr. Thanks though, I guess they're all gone permanently.
Do you all use sync? I also turned it off because of the massive wake locks it was giving me.

Does anyone know if there is a way to backup your default choices? For example on loading a new Rom, even after restoring settings from titanium I still have to choose the default browser etc etc. Could there be a build.prop maybe? Any help would be awesome! Thanks!
edit: Maybe I wasn't clear enough, I want to backup the default selection. Such as if I had 3 different browsers installed and I have a default browser. Is there a way to backup just that info?

You can go to the google play store, there they have many free apps which can backup very
detailed information about your personal things like mms, contacts, email, passwords, bank
accounts, internet favorites, typed urls and other things which may be helpful to you.
The better launchers usually have backup/restore options making it easy to restore their settings.
Many of the better apps and even some games have backup/restore settings too.
If you really want a 100% complete backup so when you flash a new rom and decide that you
don't like it you can simply make a nandroid backup using cwm or twrp recovery before you
flash the new rom and then restore the nandroid backup anytime you like.
Good luck!

Here is an option you might try. My Backup Root (there are 3 flavors) that say they backup APK+DATA and that should give you back your default choices etc.
here's their listing info:
- 0-Click Batch backup of applications APK+Data and Market links. Including protected apps.
- 0-Click Batch RESTORE! of applications APK+Data and Market links
- Unlimited amount of backups
- Scheduled backups
- Backup to SD card (Online option for Pro users)
- Backup of Photos
- Data backup supported BETWEEN DIFFERENT ROMS! of Contacts, Call log, Browser Bookmarks, SMS (text messages), MMS, Calendar, System Settings, Home Screens (including shortcut positions), Alarms, Dictionary, Music Playlists, APNs, Applications with data/settings/market link, Photos, Music, Videos and more...
YMMV, but the app works for me very well.
Aloha and Good Luck!
