AT&T I747 Firmware repository - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

The development for the AT&T I747 has been discontinued by the developer. Thank you for your support.
WARNING: YOU COULD BRICK YOUR PHONE! The possibility is very real. Samsung made it difficult to update the firmware with the introduction of Knox. I have provided the files but I highly suggest you don't use them, its dangerous and seriously you can brick your device. There is always a chance things may go wrong. As always, you take responsibility for what you do with your device, you should know what your getting yourself into. If you don't, STOP! Please do not flash this!
Beware of Dragons, please exercise caution!
These are full firmware updates!
* I did try to safeguard you from bricking your phone.
* The install scripts will fail with an error 7 if your bootloader doesn't pass the assert check.
* If it does fail... you are probably on older firmware and it is not listed in the assert check.
* I suggest you double check your bootloader version and if it is older then the latest Odin update available on http://www.sammobile.com/devices/specs/SGH-I747/ Update to DLK first then just take the OTA's to get updated.
Not sure what firmware version your on? Install Phone Info *Samsung* https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo In the firmware list, all bootloader, baseband, pda, should say I747XXXXXX If they all match then its safe to flash the next firmware set. If your on mismatched firmware proceed to flash the set that matches what bootloader your on.
Directions:
*Update the firmware incrementally. NOTE: If your firmware is MJ2 or below, it is safe to flash any previous firmware without fear.
*Flash the zips in a custom recovery like TWRP, maybe even flash the zips twice.
Also when I flashed these I would have been using an older version of TWRP probably 2.7.0.0
*Do a full reboot between firmware updates. If your using Touchwiz roms don't go to far without updating the ROM or it probably won't boot, so before you reboot you should also flash the corresponding ROM. If using CM or something you shouldn't have an issue.

enewman, I had no luck flashing when I was already on I747UCUFNE4. I have a backup that will take me back to 4.1 (I think). I won't be able to use this option from that ROM, because that ROM is not "on MJB bootloaders and modem" which is a must for this solution, correct?

You can't downgrade your bootloader from ne4 or mjb... Any attempt to do so will brick your device.

Just wanted to chime in and say I also confirmed this is working coming from MJB. Flashed via CWM 6.0.4.7 Thanks a ton for the update!

If I am on 4.3 rom, with mjb modem and bootloader, can I flash this in prep to flash the stock odex/root 4.4.2? (and still have data/wifi working on 4.3)?

Yep, but you would need to use KT, Dkp or the leaked mj2 kernel to get WiFi on tw 4.3 roms. Aosp is not an issue.

Ok, so on 4.3 TW you would need a custom kernel for wifi if you are on NE4 firmware, but on 4.4 TW you would need custom kernel for wifi if on MJb firmware. Lame.
I'm cautious since my experience with the mostly stock or custom 4.4.2 has not been stellar.

I'm curious to know if anyone has seen improved performance on the new firmware with the stock odex rom enewman17 posted? As in, would the stock kernel perform smoother than kt ?

[Q] Is there a way to return to stock 4.3 OTA?

I need to give my AT&T S3 to my Mom. Is there a way I can have my phone return to stock condition (no root, stock recovery, data wiped) on the 4.3 OTA? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

If you are already on TW either 4.1.1 or 4.3 then just ODIN back the 4.3 update.

You can only Odin 4.3 on an I747M if you're on AT&T with an I747 there is no .tar.md5 yet thus no Odin and there is no flashing backwards. If you try to overwrite the bootloaders with an older version you get a hard brick. When you try to flash an older firmware let's say 4.0.1 for example it will contain bootloaders, a kernel, a rom and a modem and it will hard brick the phone.
The thread you linked is for a 4.3 leak and runs mj2 bootloaders which is older than his current version of MJB. Also the thread you linked doesn't have any odin flashable files in it. Those are .Zip files flashable through a custom recovery such as TWRP or CWM.
This could have been really bad for someone if they even tried what you linked. Locally it takes 2-4 days and $50.00 to get a phone Jtag'ed.

[Q] can i flash older firmware using Odin?

Hey guys so i have heard that if i install the old firmware for my s4 from sammobile using Odin one from early 2013 that it will give me access to service menu so that i can unlock my phone. So my question is that is it 100% safe to Odin flash the older 4.2.2 rom when i am on 4.3? Can i flash it unlock my phone then upgrade my phone to a custom rom again? Thank you i also am running a custom rom and have philz recovery installed.

If you are on 4.2.2 bootloader then yes, if on 4.3 bootloader then no, but you can try downgrading modems instead.. Also is the ROM you are on aosp/cm or tw based?

If you update to 4.3 by one of the following methods you're out of luck:
-OTA update
-Kies update
-Odin flash the full 4.3 firmware.
Like mentioned above, if you only flashed a 4.3 ROM but keep your MDL(4.2.2) bootloader you can go back.
Faaaaaaaaaaakkkkkkkkk i did Odin flash the full 4.3 Damnit stupid Samsung why the hell would they block downgrading? Okay so if i did try to Odin flash the older firmware what would happen? I doubt it'll hard brick my phone right i could prob try it if it doesn't work then I'll just Odin flash 4.3

[Q] To 4.2.2 or to 4.3?

Hey everyone!
Just picked up a shiny new T-Mobile S4. It has 4.2.2 on it right now, and is asking me to update. Should I root and not update, or update then root?
I plan to use the stock rom, but I want the following features:
1) Ability to turn encryption on and off (Pretty sure Samsung devices allow this)
2) Skvalex's Call Recorder
3) Google Wallet
4) Clockwork or TWRP recovery
5) Root (duh)
What's your opinion/thoughts/fatherly advice/etc...
Thanks
Edit: Either way I don't know that much about Knox, but I hear it's annoying and can interfere with su and root apps. I'd love to either keep it off my phone, or keep it disabled.
Don't take the OTA update.
You can use CF Autoroot to root, install a custom recovery and flash any 4.3 base ROM such as dbombROM or Wicked.
You'll also need to update the modem to the mk2 modem.
This way you can stay on the mdl Knox free bootloader. Anytime you want to go back to totally stock you can Odin the stock Rom plus you're still able to reset the flash counter.

1. Root
2. Install recovery
3. Make backup
4. Download and flash stock 4.3 ROM via custom recovery... Check thread titles and/or the first post of a thread of whichever ROM in the Android Development section. There are mostly stock (CIQ free, KNOX free, deodex, etc) there which are listed in the thread title.
5. Download and flash MK2 modem
6. Enjoy

I think jovy's and omnifarious's are both totally stock 4.3 ROM. Wicked, Infamous and dbombRom are base on stock 4.3 Rom with additional mods built in.

I guess it depends on your device, the AOSP ROM you are coming from (ICS, JB, or KK), and what modem and bootloader you are currently on. For the d2att either the MJ2 or MJB bootloader and the MJB modem will work. If you have one of the Canadian devices the modem and bootloader required will be different. (MK5 ??)
You may also need to flash back to a stock rom before going to S3Rx in order to get the partitions reset. You can verify this in the ROM thread, I think I saw it there.

[Q] downgrade from 4.3uvuenc2 to 4.3uvuemjc can brick my t999?

Hi guys
I have my t999 running the last ota 4.3 (uvuenc2) and want to install this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2501303 who require to run 4.3 uvuemjc modem.
As far as i know downgrading from 4.3 can brick the phone, but if Im downgrading from 4.3 to this previous version of 4.3 I have the same risk of bricking the device?
I already rooted my t999, install custom recovery and disable knox, but when installed uvuemjc modem the phone lost the network signal, so went back to previous modem and dont try to go further until got more info.
Downgrading with custom ROMs won't brick you.. You also don't need to downgrade the modem, leave the modem alone and just flash the ROM
