Charging Problem - Not Charging in actual - Galaxy Grand Duos i9082 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I have problem related to charging my galaxy grand. From past one week i am facing this problem. I am using stock ROM 4.1.2.
Whenever i connect charger to my phone, it shows charging symbol on screen/battery, but battery percentage is not increasing. Its rather decreasing with the passage of time.
Following options i have already tried :
1. Charging battery - I changed battery with another galaxy grand of one of my friends. Both the batteries running fine in both phones. Still my phone was not able to charge battery.
2. Charging chargers - I have tried 5 different chargers ranging from 0.75A to 2A.
3. Changing Charging port - I went to local shop & replaced charging socket / port of my phone. Still the problem is same.
So for the time being, i am charging my phone's battery directly by connecting wires to it.
Request experts to help me out. Please let me know if any other details are required.

Hi, I have the same issue, but I did not find a solution yet.
try clearing battery stats from recovery....
and if this doesn't work then try flashing different recovery via unrevoked tool....
if this doesn't work then some problem is there in the charger......
I Wipe the battery stats. Not work.May be realy the problem is in charger.I have tried 2 diferent charger but their output current is between 200 and 400mA and phone is realy charging slow with these.I will asm some friends for charger and will try. Thanks for reply
Hi,
I tried installing both CWM 5.0.2.8 or 3.2 with no luck.
Is there anybody who may know the solution? Thanks.
My problem was the charger!!!Now is connected and i instal batery wipget pro and it showing 320mA.Before indication was 5 to 21mA when charger connected.I wiped battery stats and woks fine
I'll try nother charger tomorrow from another HTC. Thanks.
---------- Post added at 10:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:10 PM ----------
I installed Battery Monitor Widget from 3C and I see 6 to 20 mA AC. If it's the same issue, I'll check with a new HTC charger.
I tried from usb charge so is normal slow because the energy transfered via usb of the PC is less!
I tried using another charger and same issue. Battery monitor indicates between 10 and 60 mA, never more than 60mA and often at 20 mA.
Same charger, also mine, used with HTC of my colleague and indicates about 230mA on his phone.
May it be some fault on my phone?
I come from Italy, where we have 220V and I think it happened since I went to US plugging my phone with 110V adapter.
Please help.
Thanks.

You plug the 220V charger or 110V charger? If you plug the 220V 50Hz charger into 110V 60Hz if charger don't support that voltage you may damage the charger!I don't think you damage the phone becose the out put voltage of the charger is 5V DC so there is no worry about the phone .Try if you have friend with same phone to change the battries! If problem is fix you may buy a new battery.

I plugged the 220V charger into the 110V when I went to US for business.
I'm back in Italy now, and I'm plugging the 220V charger into 220V. I tried both another charger from a colleague of mine and I have the same issue. I bought a new battery and I have the same issue. I gave my charger to my colleague and everything is working on his phone (about 230 mA).
I have to send my phone to the HTC's support as I still have warranty.
I'll keep you posted on whether it's an hardware fault.

Let's see. I had to restore to the original ROM, but even that did not solve the issue. Lot of people seem to try calibrating battery with no luck.
I'll keep you posted in 2, 3 weeks as that's the time HTC repair phones here.

Hi all,
I got my mobile phone. It's now fully charging and battery life is now 2 full days. It was a hardware fault. HTC changed the whole motherboard.
Just have a small issue now: the green led is not shown when fully charged and the phone is turned off. But when I turn it on, it's 100% charged and if I plug it to the AC, it says "Charged". Any advice on this?
Thanks.
I think you must wipe the battery stats when reach 100%
Battery stats only holds the information/stats you see in the battery option in settings, it contains nothing more than the stats which tell you what has already used the battery. It in no way affects battery life, calibration or whether the led turns on or not and is reset every time you wipe data to flash a new rom or fully charge the phone to 100%.
Any app that tells you otherwise is lying.

Hi, do you have an idea of what may be this cause? If I leave my mobile turned off and plugged to the AC all the night, it shows the red light the next morning. I unplug it and switch on, plug to the AC and it tells me its' charged. Unplug it and shutdown, then plug and green light is shown now.
Thanks.

[Q] Unique GNex Charging Problem

Hello, I got a replacement GN yesterday and overnight I found out that it does not charge. It shows the lightning bolt on top of the battery but in the battery section of settings it shows as discharging. When I searched up my problem everyone was able to charge it while it was off or some people with the wall charger. No battery sign shows up when the charger is plugged in and the phone is off and there is no difference with the wall charger.
Has anyone faced an issue similar to mine? How did you guys fix it? Is there some guide on how to push the pins in the micro USB port on the phone?
Thanks in advance

Battery/Charging Issues

So then,
Recently I have had a lot of issues with my nexus. There has been on going issues related to the battery in terms of it saying its charging when its not, and not charging when it is.
yesterday the phone totally died, which wasn't ideal so I contacted Samsung and they said they need to send it away.
Now luckily I do have a extended battery for my phone which I have managed to get it working off and get it to charge which points at the old battery dying and needing to be replaced.
Issues which remain is the phone does not say its charging yet the battery is being charged. Is it possible to delete the System battery apk and re-install it and does anyone have a link to the apk. Or is it possible to re-calibrate battery settings somehow?
The phone also will not connect to the computer via any cable.
It seems as though the phone is being charged and the power is going through the phone, but there is no recognition in the USB bay of any kind, weather connected to a charger or a computer.
things done so far to solve issue:
Full wipe
Reverted to stock
Reverted back to different ROM's
Changed Kernel's
Ordered a New standard battery
Ordered a battery charger (not phone charging dock)
Wiggled the usb , changed usb cable's and chargers.
Fixed permissions
Delete battery stats
Full delvik cache wipe
This is becoming to be a serious problem with a otherwise amazing phone.
Any help would be fantastic.
Thanks,
J
I'm also having the same issue for a week or so. The phone says it's charging but it's not connected to any charger.
Lots of people are reporting the same problem. It's a hardware issue. You need to change the usb charging assembly.

Thanks for the heads up man , might give the USB port a little clean. Pain in the ass though pretty poor from Sammy and Google on that one :/

[Q] Charging Problems with GN I9250-XXLFA

Hello,
I bought a GN, I9250, European model, made in China 4 days back from a vendor online.
I am having problems charging the phone.
When PHONE is ON
1. When plugged into the included charger/cable, the battery status shows CHARGING (AC) for a few minutes and then changed to NOT CHARGING. Removing the USB plug or switching off the mains and restarting in a minute takes the status back to CHARGING (AC) but again for a few minutes.
2. Tried with multiple chargers and cables with exactly the same results
3. When the phone is connected to USB port in laptop, the charging happens, for a longer duration. The laptop also detects the phone immediately and I can access files etc. After say 20-30 minutes odd the status again goes to NOT CHARGING. However, while the phone is not charging, I can still access files on the phone. This implies the USB connectivity is still perfect, only the charging has stopped.
4. Under no circumstances does the charge go beyond 50% odd, irrespective of the duration of charging
When PHONE is OFF
1. The phone shows the battery icon with bolt for a few seconds and then shuts off. If I click the power button briefly I can see the battery charging icon.
2. I kept the phone in charging with the wall adapter all night, and got 49% charge only, starting from about 10% when put to charge.
The battery indicator graph shows the phone is has never hit a charge level above 65% types.
I have not seen the other charging issue of the phone showing a bolt in the battery icon even if the phone is not plugged in ! (thank god!!!)
I bought it "as new" condition, and performed a factory reset immediately on receiving the phone. So its running stock applications, with almost everything except voice and 2g data on. No applications except Whatsapp are running.
All other aspects of functionality are working well.
I have read hundreds of posts across the web and am not sure what the problem could be with my phone. I am in India and since the phone was bought off the net, its unlikely that it will be provided warranty etc here. In fact I'm not even sure if there will be servicing competency in the technicians here.
I have tried to puch the micro USB tongue by pushing it upwards gently, but cannot really say whether or not it did bend or i was just too fearful. Have tried removing battery etc and all other soft methods written everywhere.
Any help ???

Hello,
I do suspect it myself, but I don't know how to verify this. Can any other Samsung phone battery be put in the phone or is the phone compatible only with this one? Getting another battery is not possible in the near future since this is not available in India...
Any thoughts on how to check this?

I have the same problem, but it's not the battery's fault. My brother also has a GNex, and I tried charging my phone with his battery, and vice-versa, without any luck. I think it's the USB port's fault. Something about power not getting to the phone correctly. Luckily I bought it at a store here. I talked to the owner, and I'm going to exchange it for a new one tomorrow.

Hello,
I found another GN and did this experiment.
1. When I plugged in my battery which was showing 53% on my phone into the other phone it showed 79%.
2. When I charged the other GN with my battery inside, it charged to 100%
3. When I put my battery back into my phone, it showed 67%
4. When I put in the other GN battery into my phone it showed 49%, while it was showing 82% in the other GN.
5. I was able to charge this other battery in my phone to 60%.
6. When I put it back into the other GN it showed 94% charge.
Apparently my battery seems to be ok. Also, it seems that my phone is charging ok too. But there may be a problem with the phone detecting the battery level !!
Any thoughts?
Hello,

[Q] 8.4 Battery Calibration ? Charging stops at 89%

Hello:
My Tab Pro 8.4 has picked up an issue - it stops charging at 89%. Battery monitor - the one built in, as well as GSAM Battery monitor - show the charging increasing charge in a linear fashion to some 85%, then the rate gradually decreases, till the curve flattens at 89%. The phone still claims that the battery is charging.
I just discharged the phone fully, let it recharge - same behavior.
I did root the phone 2 days before, I wonder, if that has something to do with it.
Thanks for any info, Paul.

Hello,
maybe you need to recalibrate your battery. This can be done by deleting batterystats.bin. Search google play, there are some apps, that can do it.

In desperation, I tried few things - first a Nandroid restore to the state just after rooting - that did not help.
Next I performed a hard reset. That fixed the problem for now.
I will carefully put back in the xposed modules I used, an see/hope that the problem does not come back.

I have a stock 8.4, non rooted and I find the same thing, I have attached a screen shot of the battery charge and dream. ...

Hi,
Has anyone else had this issue?
I let my tab run down to a dead battery, plugged it on over night and it is still only at 87% ...
Its driving me nuts!
I am not rooted, so don't see bow it's anything I have done, any ideas?!;
Thanks in advance

I do not have an answer, but I wanted to thank you for posting - your answer seems to indicate, that this is a issue not related to rooting.
While dealing with this, I have put back the stock rom ( but still with custom recovery on the device ) - which made charging work to 100%, then rooted again. With this config the charging worked for few days to 100%, till if failed again all of a sudden, getting stuck at 91% charge, and claiming, that the charging was ongoing for may hours.
While the charging was broken, I put on the CleanROM 1.0, and that fixed the charging problem again.
I do not see a clear pattern of this failure....
Paul.

This does not "calibrate" anything. Any app that claims to fix the battery meter by wiping this file, is making a bogus claim. All the batterystats.bin files does, is indicate how much battery various apps/processes are using since the last charge. The file gets wiped ever time you connect the charger:
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/google-engineer-debunks-myth-wiping-battery-stats-does-not-improve-battery-life/
What you want, is to reset the "high" and "low" voltage flags related to Smart Battery. If there is an app that can do that, it might resolve your issue. Flashing a ROM also resets the flags (why you always need to do a battery charge/discharge cycle to get accurate readings every time you flash a ROM). So you might flash the ROM you are already on (stock?) and see if that helps.
But the issue itself is odd. If a higher voltage is achieved, I believe the "high" flag should automatically be reset. I shouldn't just "stop" at 89%.
Yes, I have (had) the same problem. I would use the tab through the day, then plug it in. In the morning, it would almost always be around 89...sometimes a bit more, others a bit less. I loaded battery doctor from the play store and set up a widget to kill all but a few specified apps (yeah, I typically try to avoid task killers, but this was driving me crazy). In my case, when I killed the apps, the battery would finish charging.
Theory (take it with a grain of salt as your mileage may vary): either the charger I am using or the tab has 'intelligence' that slows the charging down when it nears full, possibly to protect the battery. Certain apps running (sleeping?) in the background seem to keep the tab perpetually in a near-full charge state -- just enough of a drain to balance the 'slowing' charge. Every time I have killed the apps, the tab has quickly finished charging.
Again, this is just my experience. YMMV Good luck.
Try running the battery down to below 20% then recharge it. That should recalibrate the battery monitor.

i have had the exact same issue , mine stops charging at 54% , need to unplug replug and then it starts charging back again, also from 78% it jumped straight to 100, something is really wrong , how could samsung break something so simple and basic
I've got a very similar problem. It stops charging, usually at something like 40 or 50. If I restart it will continue charging, but not all the way, maybe up to 70 or 80. I think I tried just disconnecting the charger and reconnecting it and it didn't work but I'll try it again as that would be easier than restarting...
I sent it for service and after weeks of back and forth they gave me the old "it's rooted, so it's out of warranty".
F U Samsung. This piece of **** tablet has been messed up since day 1. First with the over sensitive screen and now this. Sony FTW.

My battery has the same issue. I'm going to start charging my Tab Pro 8.4 with a lower amp/volt charger. I think the 5.3 volts & 2 amps puts stress on the internal charging / battery regulator circuit. The 5.3 volt makes the usb cable in the tablet reasonably hot to the touch. (a hunch)
Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 Battery Replacement Video
Update: I scraped the 5.3 volt charger for a standard 5 volt charger @ 2 amps. It won't charge while in use but it does charge to 100% from 5%, powered off overnight. I also tested a 5 volt 1 amp charger (while slower) did charge from ~50% to 100%.
I would like to see others test this theory out.
Would also like to note, I believe Samsung included a 5.3V charger instead of a standard 5V so the tablet is able to charge while in use. My guess is the circuitry was originally designed for the standard 5 volts but once they saw the tablet's charge rate while on, they decided to throw in a different charger to make up for their mistake instead of a more reliable circuit design to handle the volt boost. More then likely they did tests to see if the tablet was able to handle the new charger but did not conduct the experiment for enough time to see the degrading results (faulty battery level readout).
If they knew of the issue in production they could have fixed the issue in a batch revision or recall or they flat out ignored the results and are in denial. Shame on Samsung if this is the case. Funny how they released the "better"("revision") Tab S while refusing to fix the Tab Pro. Now it seems to be biting them in the ass.
I still want to completely test this theory out and give it more time, but so far my assumption is seemingly correct.

Can you please take a picture of the procedure or make a short vid please? You open in from the rear (on the fake leather) of from the front( screens bezel) ?
I have the same problem with my SM-T325 , i've tried everything on forums : reset, hard reset( vol menu button power button) nothing works !
Thanks !
Ps: I'm using genuine 2A white charger and even tried with Asus Nexus 7 charger 2A( ridiculously is that it works better than with the genuine samsung, the white one needs 5 unplug/plugs, with Asus Black charger only 3 unplug/plugs )

I had another interesting experience with this tablet.... it charged 100% without notice that the battery is full(I saw this tiny little detail -battery full icon- ensures that it is really charged) restarted it to verify something and shock !!! the value dropped to 62% and the charging sequence stopped ...and even if it shows "charging" while I'm typing these lines, it dropped to 59% ). **** !!!
