Hopefully i get some good answers....I'm really hoping to hear "yes, this is how.....".
Just keep the I317 modem and bootloader. The firmware etc will do fine. For network compatibility you may need the AWS mod. Don't Odin anything for the T889 on the I317. Lots of people migrate from AT&T over to T-Mobile just fine.

thanks for your input.
I'm just trying to take advantage of some of the software functions from Tmobile specifically the call over WIFI function since my signal is horrible inside my house.

I heard that LTE is software locked. So would it unlock that function if I flash a GSM gn2 rom on the tmo gn2?

No. That has been tried. There is supposed to be an ota in January expected to heat up the LTE chipset.

Good. Well that makes sense so perhaps they'll be in it. I really hope the OTA encompasses all features. I'm missing screen record and multi view options. Enabling LTE is fine but hopefully users can turn it on and off until their area has services working. Shouldn't we have some test results and leaks in YouTube of beta testers showing off their LTE-A network by now?

The rumor is that multi view will be rolled out at the same time. I know that the LTE retrofit had happened in my area. I have spoken with one of the Tmo certification techs and know one of the subs who is working on it.
As far as testing goes I doubt you will see videos of devices running on tmo LTE until later in the year.

I can't say anything scientific or definite, but I just did this last night. I flashed the latest tmobile radio and the Novella Dos AT&T rom and it just worked.
Don't think so they are on different frequency

Do you have a link for the radio? I would like to flash it because my t889 wont get a 4g lte signal either.
You think it would work without the at&t rom?
This may be of help for you guys. It was designed to use att phone on tmo, but it's a combined mod in that it enables att bands on our phone

Based on the tmobile jedix thread disccusion, looks like I must install the att modem to enable lte ontop of my normal tmobile rom

I think more than that, you have to enable the ATT LTE bands on the radio itself... that is a change made in the radio itself that doesn't change if you flash ROMs or whatever... ATT and T-Mobile use different frequency bands, so this may be all that you need to change... If you search here, I know I came across a thread about enabling those ATT bands... I don't have a T-Mobile Note2, so I didn't bookmark it... but I know it's on here...
Good luck,
Don

You can NOT cross flash modems. With ANY Device!!!. You'll end up with a lot of PROBLEMS.:banghead: Or even a brick!!
What you need to do is the AWS bands unlock feature!
Check here for what you need. Hope that helped you with your PROBLEMS!

Any galaxy s phone can use modem.bin or mdm.bin from any other galaxy s phone. As long as they are not sprint or verizon.
When did this change?

Well I haven't done anything like that. Don't think TMO GN2 modem will work well on a AT&T GN2... you'll end up with boot loops!!
Try it and let me know you out come.
I understand about the Verizon/Sprint.

CDMA phone. Your GSM phone is trying to be connected to a CDMA network (the sim card). You might try a GSM sim for better results.
