http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342033
@ Download Nr 5. (SystemUI STOCK 42 COLOURED CUSTOM BAR.apk)
And if I file with the "Root Explorer" want to install, Come one message:
"Application is not installed" and when i change the permissions say he me: >>"permissions change was not Successful. Please Note that some file system (e.g SD card) do not allow permission changes"<<
and when i move file to SD/System/App say: " you cannot paste here because the file is read only"
1. i dont speak englisch
2. this is all complicated
please you can help me?
p.s what is RW-- r- r- ???
i cant found RW or r,r on permissions -.-
aaaand on description say: backup your original apk. lol But how does that?
iam overwhelmed XD
firstly the apk is not for install manually.
you need to move it to system/app using root explorer.
ffirstly copy the file to system
mount r/w
and change the permission to 644 or rw-r--r--
now move systemui.apk to system/app
and restart phone,
it should take effect.

You just saved my life man, thank you very much. I had lost my notification bar by downloading a theme through an in-app rom app. Thank you again!

so I tried installing a systemUI.apk, and lost my notification bar and lock screen.
I tried moving the original apk back but it wouldnt work.
on ESFile explorer, mount r/w has ro and rw options. which ones do I need to have checked?

Check both r/w.
And SystemUI.apk cannot be installed. Shouldn't be either.

Okay, so simply just replace the .apk file in the system/app directory using es file manager or something like that at setting permissions..
But how and where do I set the permission?

Hold the file u want to set and pick set permission.. that's in root explorer. Dunno bout es..
U can set permission via adb shell or terminal emulator by using chmod command. Useful when u need to change multiple files (in one folder)

copy systemui.apk from scdard to /system and apply permissions rw-r--r--. then move it to /system/framework. It will keep crashing after moving, but i just reboot by removing battery then everythings fine after boot.

lol, u move it to framework folder but the old one is still in system/app so u dont lose the old apk, if im not wrong.
the way to replace without bug is copy to system, set permission, then when u move to system/app, u should better rename the old one or delete them firstly after move new one in. replace directly may cause some bug.

I know that SystemUI.apk belongs to System/app but I didn't move it to framework folder only !!
I've moved it to System/app and set its permissions also put another copy of modded file in framework folder
I've requested this because I've seen all the people in this forum can replace this file and worked well but it's not well with me !!!

u should move to system, then set permission before move to system/app, and should rename the old apk or delete it instead of replace directly, DONT move directly to system/app, set permission after.
i do this way all the time and never see any bug. u can try some time

I was wrong in my first post, i meant, copy first custom SystemUI.apk to /system, then apply permissions rw-r--r--. Copy then the respective file to /system/app. Reboot.
If you happened to copy the file to /system/app without applying permissions first, you will get persistent Force Closes even when you reboot. Just Fix Permissions via Recovery.

SystemUI.odex - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5VjVTtm8AqmVkxYal9yOEpoMVU

hey buddy thanks for giving link but i relpaced that file and i am still having problems
Are you using Fire OS or the Fire Nexus ROM from ggow? (since you posted this question earlier in his thread...)
Either way: don't forget to apply the proper permissions, "0644".
i am using fire os
Ok, then just make sure that both files (apk & odex) are present and that permissions are set properly.

The APK is not meant to be installed, it needs to be placed manually in the system partition in the 'priv-app' folder.
Permissions need to be set via any file explorer that supports root access.
Usually people learn the basics about the Android system first and then start manipulating files, not the other way round...
