Are you sick and tired of Ads taking up the precious real estate of your screen?
Do you find yourself mistakenly clicking on an Ad only to find that you're downloading something you don't want?
Are you worried about the risks to your privacy/security posed by Ads?
If you answered Yes! Damn yes!!! to the questions above, look no further, here are two great apps that will solve this problem for you.
If you're worried that you're going to need root access, dont worry. I've something for non-rooted droids as well!
Before you embark on your Ad-less voyage you've to allow installation of apps from unknown apps first.
Don't know how ? Its easy. Just head over to Settings>Security>Unknown Sources. Just tick that check box right over there.
AdAway[ROOT]
AdAway is open source and is what I use on my phones and tablet. It blocks ads on browser as well as on apps by modifying your hosts file.
Download AdAway from here and install it.
Open the app and click on 'Download files and apply ad blocking' and reboot when the dialog boc pops up.
Thats it, you're done!:good:
Bonus Tip: @BSDgeek_Jake has made a super hosts file. To use it,go to Hosts sources and click on 'ADD'. and paste this address http://adblock.mahakala.is/. Remember to thank him here when you are done. :victory::highfive:
AdFree[ROOT]
AdFree works the same way as AdAway i.e, by modifying Hosts file. You can use it if AdAway isn't working or you.
Find the latest version here.
Adblock Plus[NO-ROOT]
Adblock Plus is a good alternative for non-rooted devices. It'll block ads everywhere. It does its magic by using a proxy.
Download and install the apk that you get from here.
If you don't have root you need to go here and learn how to setup a proxy manually.
Configure the proxy and you're good to go!:good:
The downside with non rooted device is that you can filter ads only while you're on a wifi connection. It doesn't work with data connection
Bonus Tip: If you use Firefox for android, you can install adblock plus extension from add-ons to block ads while browsing. This will work on data too! But remember it blocks apps only on the browser not on apps.:victory::highfive:
There are other apps that does the same thing, but in my opinion these two are the best.
When you are done, come back here and tell me which one worked best for you. :good::good::good:

MoAB is good but it's a huge file and frankly I don't see the difference.
It also isn't updated frequently, so you may see ads slipping in.
By using an app like AdAway you can add hosts sources which are up-to-date.
Also, you can build your own list easily in apps like AdAway and if you want you can directly add the to-be -blocked IP address to the hosts file.
You can't do all this if you simply flash a hosts file.

It appears to be broken either way... it has found my backups but when I try to restore, it just hangs there forever.
Downloading now can't wait to try. I've heard a lot of people talk about the titanium backup bug, I've been running the shiny ota-like 4.3 build and haven't had any trouble using titanium backup.

How are you testing this? Are you being prompted at all for root or is it automatically denying root? Root does work differently in 4.3 then it has worked in the past so some rooted apps may act differently as well. The real question is are you getting prompted for root access when you open these apps and do you have a root shell in ADB?

Well, then perhaps TricksterMod needs updating. It reports that the phone is not rooted, and then closes.
And that goes for Fast Charge (a toggle app), too. What root apps are confirmed to be WORKING?

For people with Verizon on the unlimited plan, are you able to create a hotspot for free without having to add it to your plan with this root method? Or do you have to wait for a custom ROM with the AOSP hotspot embedded?

At the moment you can only add the apps that are shown, because we need xposed for all apps.
For 4 apps, just make it as you do it with 2 apps. But you can add a third and a fourth
Just installed iron Rom for kitkat to check it out, everything went smoothly with the install and seems to be running great.
However I am no longer able to use the free xda app. Always get server connection error.

Also why is there a modem.bin file included with the Rom?

Hmmm. I am using the xda premium app which is similar to xda free. Have you tried reinstalling and wiping the app? I usually get those errors when my connection is slow. If that doesn't work, the only thing I can suggest is find an older version of Tapatalk in the Web browser since the new Tapatalk ui sucks.

It is not up to the developer of the Rom to fix xposed. Xposed simply doesn't work on Samsung LP roms at the moment.

As I understand it the red underline spell-check have been crippled by Samsung on the TouchWiz level and not the keyboard level. If the Spell Check Mod is enabled in IronRom one will have red underline spell-check no matter what keyboard you use.
Hello, I am having some trouble interpreting steps.
For some context, I have rooted my 805W and have the latest TWRP on it. Running 4.4.2 Kitkat
The stock firmware ODIN flash failed for me.
The guide says to install twrp, I already have it. How should I got about putting the lollipop bootloader on it?
How to set hulk kernel stweaks for fast charging? Can anyone give a setting so charging will be fast for tab s on iron rom?

Yup. Download this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3292041&d=1430517906) and flash in TWRP.
Then install this APK normally and you're good. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3200857&d=1425849071)
After I installed and flash it through recovery I open it up to update the framework and it says that it can only be installed manually through via twrp for now only.how would I actually do this process?I thought flashing it through recovery is considered manually installing it. Please explain. Thanks!!!

I think it is only there as a reminder for installing future framework updates .
I have installed the same modules, that I already had since those KK days. Some are working, some are not.
app Settings
3C Toolbox pro
Coolify Flat
Greenify
No increasing Ringtone
Play music Downloaded Only Remove
Secure Settings
TrimNot (definitely not working)
Xtended Settings (After many FCs, opens since last update and most (not all) tweaks are working.
Seriously that hard to use search? Been asked like 3 different times already in different topics, ALL INCLUDING XPOSED IN THE TITLE...
Would expect someone with 2000+ posts and been here almost 2.5 years to know such basic things.........

did you mount system before you flashed?
You cant use the regular xposed framework. You have to use a different one. I'll point you to the post in a few. Give me a minute.
Update - http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/xposed-android-5-1-successfully-t3074586
This is the xposed that you want to use. I have been using this since the release. The official Xposed framework doesn't function with Arm 64 yet so an alternate version of Xposed was created. Check it out.

thanks for the link. Always good to point people in the right direction as much as possible.
I've had no problems with xposed either. I actually have it on my s3 and my m9. What are your favorite modules for the m9?
It's no problem at all. I remember when I was lost & asked questions, some people helped & some didn't. I vowed to be a person that helped whenever I knew the answer. No idea why people have to talk down to people on here because of questions asked. The same amount of letters that it takes to make a smart comment could be the same amount it takes to help someone. That's my take on things.

I recommend LPThemer. You can tweak your system and notification bar colours, to really customize the look and feel of your phone . Working great for me on LeeDroid.
Thanks! (clicked).. Will check it out.
I put APV-youtube, awesome pop-up video, Youtube adaway and youtube background playback (not working, but now not necessary on my device) on my phone last night. BUT, then I found an apk for youtube that lets me shut off the screen while a video is playing!!! Now Youtube is worth keeping on my phone....
video where I learned of such apk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5xOm8t9HKs
link to install apk per video: http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/apk
(must delete youtube completely before installing this version, after install click on settings-advanced settings- then under tweaks click screen off playback. )
With that being said I should have posted my question on a different forum. I don't want to clutter this one with off topic posts. My apologies to the OP.
Xprivacy now works with lollipop, best mod available IMO

Nice stuff I understand that I don't need root at first.
It will be installed automatically, right?
Thanks!

Tested this script and isn't safe.
This will remove all those apps automatically (you need to edit the script to make it don't remove the apps you don't want) and the script doesn't make an backup from the removed apps so.. If you need something because some feature isn't working, rip. You need to make a backup of your system first otherwise you're screwed. And even with the backup you can't do nothing to make the apps work, you just need to restore the system and stay without this thing.
There's another much safer debloater than this one.

You're not that screwed I guess... Just flash the rom again to get the apps back.
I'm on a Korean (Exynos) variant running LG (G930L) Nougat beta firmware.
Will this script work without problems?

There is a script that is compatible with nougat here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/themes/samsung-galaxy-s7-s7-edge-bloat-list-t3359654
Just remove the things you don't want to be removed.
