[Q] CBS TV app sideloaded stuck on Downloading updates - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Downloaded the latest CBS TV app from Google Play and sideloaded it on a rooted 51.1.0.2 Fire TV.
It launches and then says there is an update and I am given the options to download the update.
It sits there and just spins forever (15+ minutes)
Data goes up to 172KB
Cache goes up to 44KB
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Spelvin

Turns out there is a newer version floating around 1.4.1 than the 1.3 that is on the Google play store. The new version works OK with a mouse.
Sorry folks for adding to the noise.

Netflix apk request

Looking for Netflix version 1.1.0 to sideload on my fire tv. This is the only version I can get to work without downloading the newest. Any help is appreciated.
It is available here. http://www.amazon.com/Netflix/dp/B00FLJ1CFM
The problem with this app is, it will ask you to update to the latest version which is 1.1.1 build 125
Is it possible to sideload Netflix apk version 1.1.1 build 125 to FireTV which has software version 51.1.1.0_user_511070220?
I have issues to update the FireTV's software (and Netflix app too), I followed AFTnews guide, but updating allways keeps frozing to startup screen (FireTV logo on black screen). I tried to downgrade to 51.1.0.2_user_510058520 and also removed DNS blocking and tried to update to the newest OTA software, but allways the same frozen startup screen. I can continue to use FireTV after that by removing power plug, and then I'm back to original software. My FireTV is rooted, but there is no additional recovery software installed.
The reason I want to update Netflix app, is that when starting to watch Netflix it loads for a while, and then I got this error message "can't load, try something else" etc.

Hulu stopped working correctly on ALL my Gen 1 rooted FireTVs

The app runs and can play shows, but the controls do not work properly. I cannot select the shows I want to watch. I cannot scroll down either unless I use a mouse. I'm still on the latest flashed firmware available for rooted Fire TVs. I can't upgrade without losing root. Has anyone else noticed this happening? Hulu is version 2.5a
Mine is doing the same thing... Basically can't scroll through the Hulu app (down or to the right?). If I push down it's definitely moving through the menus, but I cannot see what is highlighted. Just started a couple days ago.
I was on a previous version of Hulu so I updated it and rebooted, still wasn't working. Then I used Titanium Backup to clear data and rebooted, still not working.
Does appear to work with scrolling using a mouse like you mentioned.
On Rbox's latest rooted ROM (Android 4.2.2). I wonder if they just dropped support for this older ROM version.
Same thing here unfortunately.
Same thing here too
Option 1: Quick bypass the problem with a USB/Bluetooth Mouse or Mouse Toggle for Fire TV App or some other mouse app of your choice.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fluxii.android.mousetoggleforfiretv
Option 2: Get a hold of the prior FTV Hulu APK. There must be some folks here that block app updates on their FTV & can backup & post the prior version of Hulu for you guyz. Find out what version that would be & post the request in the FTV Apps section.
Either way, just patiently wait until TWRP, Boot Menu & PreRooted FireOS 5 ROM gets release in the next few weeks.
The USB mouse allows you to scroll down, but you still cannot select anything accurately. A workaround that I did was to get the 2.24.1 apk from my phone, sideload it, and operate it with a USB mouse. Of course, the quality is garbage and the remote is useless, but it kinda works. I can't get it to stream high quality video either.
Can you sideload the android TV version of Hulu?
Ludacrisvp: Yes. That's what I did , but you need a mouse to operate it and the quality is terrible.
Then you aren't using the android TV version of Hulu. That's the normal phone version.
After disabling the Amazon App Store I was able to install and run the android "Google TV" version of Hulu on my firetv it looks identical to the version that firetv uses.
I'm running version 1.3.0 of Hulu for android / Google TV on the firetv.
i can't get the android TV hulu plus app v1.3.0 to install. it says - install failed. looks like it requires lollipop at the minimum.
I assumed you had updated to a rooted version of fireOS 5
If we could do that, we wouldn't be having these problems.
I thought that like the fire stick there was a window of time where you could update and root with king root?
yes, but i think if you upgrade, your bootloader will be locked (even though you can get root).
Try this older version (2.1.a). Works perfect for me.
So far, this works!
I am having this problem too, has anyone found a solution yet?

bt sport update requires Google play services unable on fire stick

After the latest update of bt sport I sideloaded onto the fire stick but the message saying it requires access Google play services to open. Does anyone else have this issue or a way to get round it? Older versions I put on don't work as it requires it to update
I'm having the exact same issue. Maybe BT have got wise to it and put a block on it.
Has anyone tried adding the Playstore/services framework to see if that fixes anything?
I haven't. How easy is that to do?
Had same problem yesterday with new update.
Followed these instructions and all good again.
Can't post a link, but do a search on AFTVnews for sideloading Google Play. Article dated 16 October 2016 has the guide.

Did you use the resigned apks to avoid the services update and keep the play store working, or use something else to freeze the play services from the unaltered apks? In theory, is one of these methods better for the stick than flashing the open gapps package? The sideload sequence actually seems reversible compared to flash (think I read someone had to do a factory reset in twrp or restore a backup.

Sorry, you've completely lost me there. I just downloaded the zip file, extracted the four files and sideloaded them in the same order. Followed the instructions and all working.
I then got an out of date message for Google services from the BT App (rather than the doesn't support one) and sideloaded a current version.
When sideloading the four unzipped files I had to remove the spaces from the file names.
I followed the instructions from the article and the BT Sport app just gives me a blank screen then it goes back to the main menu. Any ideas?

So I started the process again this time using the latest Google Services apk. I kept to the order of the files and the app is working again. I did have to try the app a few times but it then loaded fine and I'm back up and running. Thanks for your help!
Hi folks have stumbled across this after also losing BT sport on fire tv due to update, am following the aftv guide as suggested could someone either please post a link to the latest Google Play Services APK they used as this is how I am coming unstuck.... help greatly appreciated!
For firestick?

You only need the first 3 files.
Then install the google play services update i.e. Google Play services 10.5.35 (238-147654167) beta worked for me.
Hi Guys, just received my new Fire Stick the other day (with Alexa voice control) with a view to side loading the BT Sport App as per the instructions at AFTV as well as this post however I've run through uploading and installing all the apk's which was fine but the BT Sport App is still asking for to update Google Play Services, I've even tried with the updated Google Play Services APK which was released on the 7th but to no avail?
I can open the Google Music App ok but just this BT Sport issue is driving me crazy, is it something I've done or is it some sort of block by BT Sport/Google??
Cheers for any help on this!

See my response above. Just search google for the play services file I listed. Worked for me and still working today.
Sent from my LG-LS993 using Tapatalk
Tried that version as well as the newer version that's now on there. Done a factory reset and tried everything from scratch but still the same?
Only thoughts are the BT Sport App I downloaded may have been updated, is there different versions available somewhere?
fix
Hi There, fyi technics:
1. Uninstall btsport, google play services & google play store from fire tv.
2. Install latest google play services, 11.7.30 FROM Apkmirror
3. Install the google play store apk (com.android.vending) that is located in the zipped file in the aftvnews article about installing google play music posted on the 14th october.
4. Sideload latest version of bt sport apk (4.8.0)
5. Get to the point where u get an error when opening google play store (you will see a retry button).
6. OPEN bt sport
7. Crack open a cold one whilst listening to Michael Owen talk manure for two hours.
God speed, may your hammer be mighty
I'm finding the same as Teknics, have tried both 4.8.0 and 4.9.1 with the latest 11.7.30 Beta and it still saying that I need to update google services.
Even tried the google services that was with the play store from AFTV but still no joy...
Edit.
Finally managed to sort it, uninstalled Google play services and then used Downloader on the Fire to get the services app from apkpure, now it works.
Just need to work out how to navigate it now lol

Need Netflix apk compatible with AFTV Gen 1 Please

Hi! I have an non-rooted first generation Fire TV, and a 3 weeks ago when I started it up, I painfully discovered that pretty much everything other than the main Amazon app were simply GONE. I haven't the faintest clue as to why this happened, but after several attempts to recover the missing apps, etc, I finally resorted to a factory reset. I then re-installed all my previous apps, but only one of them failed every time I ran it: Netflix for AFTV!
Netflix invariably now immediately reports the "UI-800-3" error and it never stops. I followed all the instructions about how to resolve this problem, but it never works. One possibly critical issue is that, after uninstalling Netflix, when I use the main Amazon interface to attempt to re-download it -- or ANY other app! -- any click on any app to download it is totally ignored! No click sound, no response whatsoever!
So I used the "Apk Extractor" app on the Netflix app on my Second Generation Fire TV, and then installed it on the first AFTV using ADBLink, which completed without error. From then on the "UI-800-3" error nightmare began.
So what I need is a Netflix for AFTV apk that's compatible with First Gen Fire TVs running FireOS v5.2.1.1 -- Does anyone have such?
I've seen recommendations to use the APK for Netflix for Android TV, but that hasn't worked out for me.
Kindly help me. Thanks!
I've tried using ADBLink to install the following Netflix apks: Netflix_3.3.5.apk and Netflix_4.0.5.apk
The latter reports that it is incompatible with first generation Fire TVs, so I uninstalled it.
The former tries to run, but again gets infinite "UI-800-3" errors.
So I removed all the DNS blocks that were preventing Amazon updates, and went ahead (very reluctantly) and upgraded to the latest system, v5.4.2 (if I'm recalling it correctly). But Netflix still refuses to run without eternal "UI-800-3" errors!
Furthermore, when I manually navigate around the main Fire TV app looking to download Netflix, it's nowhere to be found! Every other app shows up and allows downloading EXCEPT Netflix!
What the hell is going on?

Happened a while back. Netflix is only allowing the most recent version of their app to access their service. And those more recent versions only run on FIreOS 5. So you need to look thru this forum to the numerous ways to upgrade your FTV1 to FireOS 5. It's that simple.
I performed yet ANOTHER full reset and ANOTHER system update until no further updates were available, and finally, Netflix appeared and installed fine. Happily, it works fine!
I haven't submitted enough posts yet that I'm allowed to post external links, but I will be posting the working Netflix apk in another thread, here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/help/netflix-apk-compatible-aftv-gen-1-please-t3628174
I updated to the latest prerooted rom by rbox (jan 8 2018) on fire tv 1 and now can't find Netflix.
I had it before upgrading I was way back at os3, 51.1.1.0 or something and saw it under settings all apps, cleared it's cache and data, then uninstalled. Now when I search for netflix it doesn't find anything. Tried resyncing my purchased stuff under my account and still don't see it. Should I try and reflash the rom now that I've removed my old netflix apk?

An update: I got my answer in a similar board from @Sizzlechest :
"I just installed Netflix on my rooted Fire TV 1 with the latest OS and Netflix works fine.
EDIT: Here's a link to my Netflix APK: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjlFvM-kUCwh_VrvNbHA-1xdlIx0 "

Dasaita px6 with android 10Pandora won't launch

Hi guys, so I recently bought a dasaita px6 max10 for my 10th gen civic. The first app that I installed was pandora but after it was installed the app did not work. I downloaded different launchers but still did not work. I updated to the latest firmware and MCU but didn't resolve the issue either.
same here, pandora wont load, i have tried numerous app versions with no success. it just freezes at the letter P loading screen.
also HBO max loads but when i try to play any show it just goes to a black screen .
What did the reseller suggest or say about it
I found a way to make it work. First, download Aptoide (the px6 is already rooted). Then search pandora in the aptoide appstore and download an older version. For me version 2006.2 works fine. Also, disable auto update apps from the play store and aptoide.

well that actually worked! untill pandora fixes compatibility this is the workaround! thanks!
...I had similar issue with apps not launching. I resolved after moving app from sd card where it was installed by default to internal storage.
