[Q] Canadian Stock ROM Compatibility with ATT Variant - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

hello everyone,
I am tempted to flash the stock ROM package for the SGH-i317M on an ATT version of the device, the SGH-i317
the reason I want to do this is because of theATT KK update, and how it locks the bootloader.
the ATT note 2 is now on 4.1.2 (MA4), so its still on the old bootloader..
would I be able to get away with this, or will I nuke my phone?

I have the ATT version of 4.4.2 (NE5) available without the bootloader. Follow my sig or check the dev section. @dicksteele also has a modded and debloated version out.

[Q] Question about firmware

Hi, this is my first post here and I've done some searching and I've got confused with the firmware names between stock and original.
Currently I have a T-mobile 4.1.1 baseband T889UVALL4 with T-mobile firmware.
What I am trying to understand and do is change from t-mobile firmware as it has t-mobile apps to a samsung firmware and their apps /non t-mobile apps.
Is this something possible? Where can I find these firmwares and what is the latest version?
Thanks & regards
First off welcome..Why dont u give tweaked a try. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2242972 Its the only rom I use on my phone.. You have the ability on install to choose the amount of bloat u want and it's super customizable....... as for the international roms be mindful they don't have wifi calling
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Look up teshxx in the development section he has stock samsung roms. Keep scrolling the different roms til you find the latest updated one, cause he have quite a few posted. If you ever want to try a custom rom, try Jedi x14 by ptmr3 which is great.

What is the difference between factory and stock image?
Ive seen the topic where it has all images for t889 but I cannot distinguish what are those.
If I want to have a samsung only firmware on my t889 , what king of file should I be looking for?
Tks
Anyone? Any place I should look?

Factory and stock should be the same just wording. What are you looking for ? Do u want a rooted stock rom. If so downloaded teshxx deodexed
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2102380. Like I said before if you want a rooted stable customizable (without flashing anything else) try tweaked

Hi, thanks for your help. What I am looking for is remove anything related to T-MOBILE from my phone, so it looks like the Samsung Firmware without T-Mobile apps, in order words, to look like the international Samsung Galaxy Note 2, unbranded.
How can I do this? What is odexed/deodexed btw?
Tks

Hi deeznutz1977 thanks for your help.
From what I could read, a ROM is something you put on top of the firmware.
Is there anyway to put a Samsung firmware from scratch without those T-Mobile brand on the SGH-T889?
So it would be a brand new firmware, no ROMS or t-mobile apps.
Thanks for you help and patience.
Best Regards

[ROM/Kernel/Modem/Rec][Oct-13] I317-UCAMH3 Stock Rooted Odex and De-Odex - Sep-13 OTA

Here are a set of packages flashable from a custom recovery (CWM, TWRP) that are based completely on the September 2013 UCAMH3 stock OTA for the AT&T I317 in all their bloated glory.
These packages are intended only for the AT&T version of the Note 2.
The odex package contains the stock files after the OTA update less bootloader and recovery. It includes Chainfire's SuperSU and Linus Yang's build of busybox. It installs the UCAMH3 kernel and the modem.
Want to stay close to stock? OTA process not working on your phone? Prefer odex for the speed? This is the package for you...
The de-odex package was created with the current 2.0 version of smali/baksmali and current Android SDK zipalign using a version of Daneshm90's Auto-Deodexer script which I updated for this effort. The de-odex package also includes SuperSu and busybox, but does not install the kernel or modem. :good:
Both of these packages completely replace the contents of the system partition. If you are coming from another stock-based I317 firmware wipes should not be necessary.
For completeness's sake I've included separate packages for the kernel, modem, and recovery.
AT&T UCAMH3 i317 *Odexed* Stock CWM Note 2 (includes kernel and modem)
AT&T UCAMH3 i317 *Deodexed* Stock CWM Note 2
CWM AT&T i317 UCAMH3 Stock *Kernel* Note 2
CWM AT&T i317 UCAMH3 Stock *Modem* Note 2
CWM AT&T i317 UCAMH3 Stock *Recovery* Note 2
If you are new to custom recoveries here are links specific to the I317 (AT&T Note 2):
PhilZ Advanced CWM Edition
TWRP Recovery
Thanks to qkster for helping test the odex package
Thanks to 147aaron, Guitarboarder28, and lownox for the UCAMH3 modem - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448927
Thanks to Chainfire for SuperSu (consider donating or buying pro version)
Thanks to Linus Yang for the busybox build
Thanks to Daneshm90 for the original Auto-Deodexer script

Noticed your signature shows the N7105... take care - these packages are for the I317.
It's actually an I317. Ever since I flashed Clean ROM 5.0 it's been saying that.

if running this rom, when our official update does come out
can we just flash stock recovery and take the update?
or have to flash back to pure stock?
Does the Deodexed version includes the modem? Or just the rom and kernel/ thanks!

This should work, but for best results you can always Odin back to ucama4 and take the ota update that way... I recommend being cautious about that though because ATT now has a locked bootloader policy and there is a very good chance that the 4.3 update will have a locked boot loader... Meaning no custom recovery and no custom Roms... Check out the MF3 update for the SGS4 to see what I mean.

Deodexed is just the ROM..no kernel, no modem. You can flash them separately with the other packages included in the OP.

Thanks, I am not worried about root anymore and will be returning this to stock since I am giving my note 2 to the wife and she doesnt need root I keep hers plain lol
I sprung for the Note3 which will be in my happy hands thursday....
So you'll be rooting de la Vega soon
For pure stock Odin is your best bet. These packages are rooted and may trip the system modified flag, especially with a custom recovery loaded.

Damn. Beat me to it. After a two weeks finally found working smali files to deodex last night. I'm really loving this build. Nice and snappy, even without any tweaks..... yet. It may not need them.
Welp, Time to debloat this bad boy.

Hey Note 2 Community

Im a new owner of a AT&T Note 2. Already have phone updated to latest 4.1.2 OTA, Rooted with CF-AutoRoot, and have CWM Touch Recovery installed. My question is should I start off with Skynote 4.3 Edition or Ditto Note 3? I definitely want to keep TW functionality and all the S Pen goodies. Just looking for some feedback here.

Already have SkyNote 4.3 Edition R9z downloaded. Thinking of downloading Ditto Note 3 as well just to have either ready to flash.

If you plan on reverting back to 4.1.2 at some point don't flash the DN3 yet, it comes with the new KNOX bootloader. I'd go with sky note.

I read a thread related to your question.
According to the thread, Skynote is first, and then DN3 for a successful flashing.
I don't know the reason.....

Thanks...your comment is helpful for me.
Actually you can flash DN3 without worries as I'm pretty sure it doesn't come with the new 4.3 bootloader or KNOX crap, I just flashed DN3 1.0 AND DN3.1 separately and I checked download mode it says nothing about KNOX and I have made nandroid backups of DN3 no problems plus restored to a bunch of different backups I have of older versions and have had ZERO problems.. but don't just take my word for it maybe ask in the DN3 thread I'm sure they'll answer your questions. And BTW I would go with DN3 over SkyNote.. More features in DN3. Cheers
Just looking over the DN3 thread because I've been waiting for it since they removed the download links the other day. Seeing a lot of issues with the flashing since this morning. For that reason I think I'll hold out on DN3 for another day or so and let them sort it out.

tampaboy1984 - Which one did you go with? How you liking it? I'm on Cleanrom 5 but am ready to move on.

Tw 4.4 bootloader?

I'm trying to flash a 4.4 tw ROM (wicked v1) and I get stuck in a bootloop.... Is there a flashable zip I can download so the ROM will boot
Here, you will need to odin to 4.4 stock (upgrade bootloader), then flash it. Follow this guide. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2672393

[Q] Need Help Installing SafeStrap Deadly Venom Rom On My T-mobile S4..

Hey guys,
I've got a Galaxy S4 on T-mobile in the UK, with the build XXUEMKF. Its Rooted but its running stock JellyBean 4.3 Ive not taken any OTA updates as im looking to install a safestrapped Custom Rom. Just needed some help to make sure I don't soft brick the phone lol.
Im looking to install the Deadly Venom V3.0.2 KitKat SafeStrapped edition in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45657764&postcount=4
Few noob questions though if anyone could help me..
1) The thread title says its for the AT&T version but Im on t-mobile UK, is this going to be a problem or would it still work without bricking the phone?
2) Its got 2 different install instructions, one for people who have the Mk2 build and another process for people with the Nb1 build. I have neither, I have the MKF build..Can I still install this rom on my S4? If so, should I follow the instructions for the Mk2 Method?
3) Im running Stock JellyBean 4.3 right now, can I still install this safestrapped rom or do I need to do an OTA update to the latest KitKat update? Kies says the latest update I can do is Nb3 apparantly?
I hope someone can give me some simple answers to this, Im quite confused. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks guys
You can flash from 4.3. I'm on MK5 bootloader t mobile and I just clean flashed with no problems so far

The model number is GT-i9505. Only reason I want to use a safe strapped rom was to avoid tripping knox because my phones still under warranty
Should I follow the install method 1 instructions as if my device was a mk2 version straight from my stock 4.3?

Ah I see.. Well not sure I don't think many of us here use that method and I'm not familiar with it.. You should try asking in a safestrap thread if there is one on the at&t forums.. Not sure if it would even work with your model, better safe than sorry!
