Here is my story:
My Boss at work drunk one night ordered the P6 from China and it was delivered. To his surprise Google Play did not work.
Being a proud owner of 3 rooted devices with custom ROMS I offered my services to install a custom ROM on his P6 that would here in the UK.
However when using adb to boot into fasboot mode in order to flash a custom recovery nothing happened, I was left with a stuck logo screen.
The phones details are as follows:
kernel: 3.0.8-00796-g97d2208 [email protected] # 1
build: B113SP02
This particular build came with SuperSU already installed. I say already installed as I done a factory reset and it was still there.
I have copied over the beta kit kat zip in the hope that installing this from the stock recovery will help things, I need to wait for an sdcard though.
Am I going done the right path and if not could I be steered in the right path?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

So your saying that trying to update my current build through the stock recovery to the latest kit kat build is the way to go?
I cant actually push any recovery images to the device as fastboot mode fails to initialize, hence why I am hoping an official update through stock recovery and sd card may solve that problem.
My aim is to get the latest kit kat TWRP installed, back up the stock build, then install a custom ROM.

Yes if you want the KK released by HUAWEI Romania. If you use the other BETA you must be on B125.

what would you recommend?
I realize i will be putting a cutom ROM anyway, but jut so a stable nandroid backup can be made of an official build.
Thanks so far, you have been really hlepful........
Through more investigation it seems that the B510 kit kat update includes Google Play so it may be wise to install that and therefore the B132 first....
couldnt get the b132 build on or the b520, there were errors........

Do you think this is an issue? Should I be updating to another build before trying B132?
Does the stock recovery need to match up with the OS build?

If you have custom recovery and root the ota update obviously wont work. I had asked the developer of root for our devices for the otas and this is what he had said:
dalingrin said:
My suggestion, if you want to keep root don't take an OTA.
If you really want to stay with stock LG then you'll want to flash updates via custom recovery. The community will take the updates from LG and make them flashable with TWRP or CWM.

Yeah there is a script that runs when you do a OTA. My buddy had to completely restore to stock using download mode to fix his. You may get lucky with doing a factory wipe but sounds like flashing a new rom didn't even help... Look through the forums and find the thread that guides you through doing a regular restore (this will restore you to the original software. You will be unrooted and your recovery will go back to stock. This means you can do the OTA if you so desire. Just keep in mind it may block Loki and root)

Thanks for the reply mate,
Yeah i will do like that , but surely there is a way somewhere to remove the boot loop , from TWRP you can remove edit files.
So if someone with more knowledge tell us where the OTA files give the command to boot to recovery we can remove it.
Cheers

To be honest I didn't mention any chances , sure they (lg) updated their apps but I haven't notice any system chances , but then again I can't take it from my kids and wife hands!!!!
Just tried the update to a stock (but rooted) Gpad
At 3% installing, error 0x13E
After booting, a samsung-like:laugh: message:
"This device is suspected in rooting. Software update is not available for rooted device"
Fortunately this tablet is not mine... This tablet needs a "google edition" update ASAP
Maybe somebody could cook this update into a package that can be flashed by people who are on stock, but rooted?
I am on stock, rooted, but the update went fine.

But recently I got quite sick of sense and when I tried in stall this rom the phone would not work, I tried cm11 after but it would not flash at all giving me an error every time. I read that I need to update my firmware but Im not really sure what that means, or how to tell what firmware I am on(I thought firmware was the same thing as a rom?)
sorry if this is a stupid question, Im not really that good with technology :L

Where there any errors while installing the rom in TWRP? You might try one of the CyanogenMod snapshots instead of a nightly, they're a bit more stable and well tested. Also, make sure that you backup and wipe when switching between different roms.
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=m7vzw&type=snapshot
So I've stayed at 2.19.40.20 because I wanted to wait to see if a better way to unlock the bootloader would be found, but I've given up and unlocked my bootloader (the unoffical way).
I want to get up to speed and update to the latest OTA.
Can I just flash the latest one or do I need to download every one til the newest update and sideload them individually?
If I have to do each one can I just load them one after the other, or do I need to reboot the phone and let it fully load to the OS for every update?
I did side load the latest one when I was coming from the 18 something that came with my phone. Loading the full 1.1gig firmware did the trick.
So just for clarification, to take me from 2.19.40.20 to 2.20.40.139 I should just flash the latest Stock ROM from the ASUS site?

Yes, and don't try to install it after you get to 139 firmware, as far as I know it still causes bootloop.
Wait, if I flash the 1.1 gig stock ROM, do I lose everything in the internal memory?

I did a little digging, and it seems that the bootloop was fixed a few days ago:

Good to know. No, you would not loose anything, at least I did not. Everything migrated over without any issues.
So I've gotten through sideloading the current version with no hiccups. Booted into system fine, it's the right version in the About section, and my internal memory came through intact.
I've flashed TWRP, and booted into it to install SuperSU when I got this message: "TWRP may have detected an unmodified system partition"
It explains that I can keep it as read only and make it easier to take official updates, but then TWRP will not be able to stop the stock ROM from replacing it and will not offer to root my device.
Should I keep it "Read Only" or should I allow the modification?

Brother for OTA Upgrade you must have
your device all official software, if you root
or flash twrp your device goes to custom
So you can't get any further OTA update/upgrade
Other thing, your device software must have
of your country to get updates.
So if you want OTA updates
1. download own country stock rom from www.samfirmware.com
2. Flash rom with odin
3. Don't flash other unofficial softwares
4. Check OTA updates you must get
5. Done
I've already done it once, and didn't work, maybe it's because my binary is "custom"
I need to restart it, like with no modifications, but the binary I don't know how to restart.
Can you help me? Or I need to flash stock again?
And another question, if nothing works, I can just download the future 6.0 stock and flash with odin? Or it means problems?

First, if your device have custom binary
You need to hard reset your device by
1. Power off device
2. Go to recovery mode by Pressing power+volume up+home buttons at once
3. Clear partition cache
4. Format factory data
5. Restart
6. done
If still there custom binary appear then reflash
Official rom.
Second, you can download android 6.0
and flash anytime there is no problems
Thank you so much

Hi everyone, first time posting here.
I've recently purchased a HTC 10 from a friend. I'm looking to upgrade it to android version 7
The phone has TWRP recovery but no back up of a stock untouched ROM, ive tried looking for a stock UK H3G ROM (H3G_001) but I've been unable to find 1.
Could someone give me a little help on how to update my phone, possibly an idiot proof step by step guide. i just want the latest version available for my phone.
Thanks
Try this thread from a few weeks ago:

Obviously you'd need a stock backup that matches the version you currently have.

So, if your system is rooted or modified in any way, you'll need to flash a stock system backup, matching the firmware version you currently have. Then flash stock recovery, and you'd be able to take the OTA.
If your system is already untouched, you would just need to flash the stock recovery, again matching your firmware version, and then take the OTA. There is a recovery for 6.0.1 in that link, but I'm not sure if it's for your firmware version. You could try to flash it and see if the OTA works.
Thinking about it more, if you're able to download the ota I think the best thing to do is to flash the OTA using twrp manually. See instructions in the faq located in the twrp thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ht...ery-twrp-touch-recovery-t3358139/post66347165
If you follow the instructions, you should be able to take the OTA including firmware, and not have to worry about restoring anything stock first.
