Hi,
My question is related to P7, but there is no P7 thread so far, so I'm trying to get answer here.
My P7 model (P7-L00) is for Chinese market but I use it in Europe. Generally I have no problem with the phone, the ROM is multilanguage, and I could install the important Google apps too.
Only one thing is annoying: the stock Email app shows the sender's name with bigger, bold letters, but the font used for that contains some Chinese caracters instead of the accented European ones. Like this:
Erika Kov醕s (instead of Erika Kovács). The rest of the email text is OK, comes only with Latin letters.
I guess I should change the font pack in order to eliminate the Chinese letters. I tried it in the Themes/Customize sub-menu, but every theme has only one font pack: the default.
What can I do?
Up!
Nobody has an idea?
Or at least can someone suggest me for download an Emotion UI theme that comes with font pack? Installing that font pack might resolve my problem (althought I'm not sure -- but it's worth a try...)

You could try the following:
1. open the .hwt file using 7-zip
2. add folder called "fonts" and copy required fonts
3. copy the updated .hwt file in phone sd card under /HWThemes folder
4. try installing this theme.
Note: i have not tried it, you have to try this in your own risk
feedback if it works without any issue

Problem: After installing language support whenever you get a new number and want to add it. As soon as you click on the add screen the following screen comes up:
Up to this point every thing is Ok. The problem when you click on the Name to add data [First or Last] the background is white and the font color is white. This makes impossible to read what you wrote
Suggested Solution:
1- Develop a Cab to change font color.
2- Or Change a back ground color.
I really appreciate help in this issue. Kindly help:
If there is any other developed themes or
any one can help on changing the background color or
any one can help on changing font color at this specific location.
Thank you

Hello,
First, thank you very much for the response and attention:
Second the issue is with many languages support you can see the following links:
a) with Hebrew :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3776778&postcount=1462
b) with Chinese "they solved the problem; by changing font color"...their solution does not apply to other language
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3787892&postcount=1522
c) Kwbr knew about this issue but due to time shortage said could not fix it, however, he is willing to add it to his Rom if some one found solution [Paragraph 3 on the following link]:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3787819&postcount=1521
d) Many members on various forum with the same issue.
Last, I am using Arabic support with same problem. I am willing to give a copy of any files you request to find a solution.
Sounds to me like a font issue, not a graphic problem. I suspect the font you've installed to get Arabic or Hebrew and right to left write/read has a white background to it, or the file controlling it does. I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to fix such a problem. Try messaging the creator of the language support file?

Hi, I have now done as you explained - tried first to install "Old English" - worked like a charm, so I just worked my way down the list and installed all the apk files.
THen I went to settings -> Display -> Font.
IT CHRASHED
"The program SETTINGS (proces com.android.settings) has quitted unexpectedly - try again!" and then Force Close
It happens all the time.
Now I have deleted the whole font folder on my external sd card, and then tried to go back to change the font to one of the 3 build in fonts, but same error message appears....
What now....?
Do I have to reset phone back to factory default or...?
Running 2.2 JPA, not rooted, normal rom.
PLEASE HELP ME.

Assuming the current font is working fine.
Press and hold menu
Open task manager
Click Package tab
Scroll to font package that is bad/the one you installed when setting started to crash.
Uninstall.
Praise Samsung for giving us another way to uninstall apps.
DOH!!!
So easy, why didn't I think of that?!
Thank you so much, my friend.
Just strange that it happened to me and another one out of possible thousands of others...but well, ja I guess someone's gotta be the one who ends up in the ally of error...
Then I'll just install one font apk at the time and then see if its something for me, and if not - uninstall and install another one.
Not gonna install all apk at the same time again...

Whats the solution for those that have installed all?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Solution:
I did it the hard way - installed one font at the time, went to display settings and see if I could see the font in Fonts menu right after installation.
It took a while, but now all 31 fonts are installed, and I can see all the fonts beatifully!
The BAD FONT is the one called HELVETICA NEUE 57 CO... Don't install that one!
IF you have installed all - do like user "aditya_t90" describes 3 replies above this:
Press and hold menu
Open task manager
Click Package tab
Scroll to font package that is bad/the one you installed when setting started to crash
HELVETICA NEUE 57 CO...
Uninstall.

hi, really love your font 'brush' but is there any way of enlarging it slightly cos it seemed to compressed and hard to read.
the fonts are really beautiful though..
I'm getting the FC problem with just installing com.monotype.android.Segoe.apk.
I'm on Insanity 0.5.3 (JS3), SuperOptimized Kernel 4.7.3, international i9000 (spain). Any ideas? Maybe it's a different framework since 2.2.1?
Is there any way to change the system fonts?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Replace DroiSans.ttf (and DroidSanBold.ttf) in /system/fonts/ with your preferred font.
You'll need to be rooted of course.
heads up, some fonts are not changed, and some ttfs cause weird stuff, like in app manager the name of the app layered above, cutting of some the size on disk taken by that app.
i would recomend using a font not too big.
app font changer also works, but ofc, you'll need root.

Japanese system font
Problem: The default Japanese font on Android phones sold outside of Japan is actually a similar, but slightly different, Chinese font. Therefore, I would like to install a genuine Japanese system-level font on a GSM Galaxy Nexus that I am hoping to have in my possession early next week. I assume I can copy a suitable Japanese font (MTLmr3m.ttf) into the /system/fonts/ directory. However, I do not know whether it will be recognized as is, or if I need to rename it and replace an existing font (perhaps DroidSansFallback.ttf). Thanks in advance.
Thought I should answer my own question on the chance that it might help someone else. Copying the Japanese font (MTLmr3m.ttf) into the /system/fonts/ directory on my Nexus One worked as is. I didn't have to rename it. However, copying the Japanese font (MTLmr3m.ttf) into the /system/fonts/ directory on my Galaxy Nexus didn't work. I had to rename it to DroidSansFallback.ttf and replace the original to get it working. I am a little surprised that Gingerbread and ICS are different in this respect, but all is well now.
I thought I'd give Rom Toolbox a mention. It does all the hard work for you.

I've found a post on a japanese blog explaining how to add a new font to the system (on a Galaxy Nexus).
The author adds the DroidSansJapanese.ttf font by copying it to the /system/fonts folder (and check permissions). Then he edits the file /system/etc/fallback_fonts.xml adding
Code:
<family>
<fileset>
<file>DroidSansJapanese.ttf</file>
</fileset>
</family>
After reboot the screen properly displays all japanese characters.

As fas as I know .ttf and .otf are supported. Here is a link to a tool that should be able to convert your .dfont to a usable .ttf: http://peter.upfold.org.uk/projects/dfontsplitter
Hope this helps you out
Problem with fonts
Hi I'm trying to load two new fonts on zooper widget pro and I've tried putting them in both the file paths above but they won't show up. I have previously loaded the same fonts on a different device but my new phone (oneplus one) won't load them.
Any help much appreciated.

This isn't the same as the issue I'm having but similar in nature.
I put a font file (ttf) in Zoopers font folder, even recycled the phone. The font shows in the list but does not show the characters. It's almost as if the character map is broken.
Hello all...
I have a rooted M9 with ViperOne installed, recently upgraded from v4.3.0 to v6.2.0. I'm seeing a few minor but annoying bugs. One of which is the inability to download fonts from HTC. Whenever I go into the edit theme section in the personalization settings, I get a network error message. There are only four fonts available. One under HTC fonts and three under "other fonts".
With ViperOne 4.3.0 installed, I was able to set a custom font that worked perfectly. It's been at least six years so I can't remember how I came by this method, but on 4.3.0, I was able to paste a "com.htc.theme" folder in /data/media/0/Android/data/com.htc.launcher/files/LocalTheme/. I only know this because I have a copy of this folder and a text file with instructions on what to do with it saved on my SD card. I tried doing that on this version of ViperOne and even after a reboot, nothing changes and the font is not a visible option in theme editing.
I've been searching for a solution for the last few days and nothing that I have found works. I've read in more than one post that there is a way to flash fonts from recovery but any links to files or instructions have been broken or they don't match my file structure.
I'd be grateful for any tips or suggestions. Thank you.
If you have root access, You can easy get into /root/system/fonts and can change any font with ROBOTO ones. Remember to change that font name to Roboto-Regular and all other Roboto font family. This should work.
Hope it helps!

Greetings ai.Sanaul...
Yeah, that works but it's very cumbersome. There's at least eight variants of Roboto that I would need find equivalent .ttf versions of to duplicate. Finding a full font family like that without paying $100+ for it is very difficult. On ViperOne 4.3.0, the theme folder that I used only had one .ttf file and somehow, the system adapted it to the required style (ie: bold, italic, etc.) seamlessly across the board including third-party apps.
Thank you very much for your suggestion. I may end up doing that in the end but I was hoping for a method that's a little more plug-and-play.
{Mod edit: Quoted post has been deleted. Oswald Boelcke}
Unfortunately, this method does nothing. The fonts that show up in personalization must be must be kept in another directory because adding font files to system/fonts doesn't add them to the fonts menu.
There are 147 .ttf files in system/fonts, yet only three options are available in theme editing. See attached.
Ok... I figured it out... kinda.
I used root explorer to find the XinGothic font. It showed up in system/fonts but it was also found as an apk in system/app/Font_XinGothic. So, I created a new folder in the same format and placed the apk of my font there. I then rebooted and checked font settings and where XinGothic was before now says "HTC Theme Font". I selected that and my custom font was applied. So far, it seems to be evenly implemented across the entire device.

That's a great program. I tried it many years ago and had a lot of fun with it, but not enough to justify the hefty price tag.
Small update...
After unpacking the apk from my theme, I was able to edit the XML so that instead of reading "HTC Theme Font" the display name matches the font name. Easy enough from a PC that I might just create my own collection.
