How does it play on the Xperia Play? I am getting so tempted to by this device along with the Mugen 3600mah battery and 64 GB micro sd. Anybody else have this set up with extended battery and sd? How it is for daily use also hows the battery life? Hows netflix on it?

Battery life on the Xperia Play is not good. You can get a day of use with moderate usage. It drains a lot when using wifi and playing games.
When you play HD games like GTA 3, Shadowgun then your battery is gonna drain like hell !
I was expecting better.
Lol? I optimized my device so much that the stock battery lasts like three days. The battery life on this thing is amazing, just use it wisely and optimize stuff.

What do you mean by ' optimize ' and how long do you charge your phone for ?
And do you play games on it and use wifi heavily ?

Yea, what have you done that your phone lasts for THREE DAYS?
Sent from my beautiful Xperia PLAY using xda premium
I have wifi constantly on but use the the general mode on both juice defender and easy battery saver and don't even get a days usage really (although I did just reinstall easy battery saver today). I haven't even played on any games. That's quite bad I think so what could I do to improve this? Not rooted
Sent from my R800i using XDA
Nothing too serious, i'm quite a noob at this stuff (first android device). I just rooted, cleaned the bloatware, frozen other stuff like the stock launcher, installed a very light launcher, disabled the boot animation (boots so much faster), did the adb setinstalllocation 2 trick, and a couple of other things. I mean, i always have low brightness and i only have wifi on when i need it, but i do play games. Of course the three days mark is only achieved when i don't play, but it definitely got even more awesome than out of the box (even there, it rocked, at least for me).
Anyone know if Ice Cream Sandwich update will improve battery life ?

I actually run the exact same stuff you wish to purchase, and i can kill the phone in 1 day if i play castlevania, symphony of night for about 11 hours straight, other than that for an average day of minimal use, maybe a half hour web browsing or so its drains about 6-7% in the approx 10 hours off the charger.
this is overclocked to 1.5ghz with a slight undervolt. the 64gb microsd works fine, i have aroundabout 10gb left free on it, as does the majority of psx emulation using fpse, n64 is a bit more spotty, everything older runs 100% perfect.
i cant comment on netflix because it isnt available where i live.
Confused...The title of thread is mega man legends 2.....so where is this game available for Xperia play? Is it on an emulator or gameloft?
Ios suckkss.
I just finished playing Asphalt 6 HD for 15 mins and I lost 16% !
So if was to play for an hour my phone would shut down right?
How about that right? How can this happen?
Why me?

Thanks are you running on the 3600mah battery?
And its a psx game ran off the emulator to the guy asking.
Also is there a compatibility list on this forum for PSX and N64 games?
I've searched and haven't seen one.
Most users who are saying that are saying that their battery lasts for 2 days or more are those who leave their xperia play on standby most of the time. Only use it a little bit here and there and a bit of gaming. Or are using a 3600mah battery.
In no way can you get 2 days of gaming full whack usage from the stock battery.
Played 9mm HD on stock GB 2.3.4 no overclock, oem stock battery
with 100% brightness,Wifi On,Multiplayer online,no data (airplane mode)
after 3- 4 hours of non stop playing, then it's shut off.

Your rooted that's why. I'm not.
You have deleted all that bloatware and stopped excess processes from running.

no,i didn't use anything to improve my battery life.
seriously, the battery are good to me,compare with my previous galaxy s2,xplay will give you aproximately around 30 min -1 hour more life.
i saw your post about battery life in another thread, but i forgot which is was.
seriously, maybe there is something wrong with your device/battery.
xplay does really have good battery life,at least for me.
My XPERIA Play is Overclocked to 1.6Ghz and when I'm playing like 20 minutes the temp of the battery is 40C. Usually ,when I'm not playing games ,the temp is between 25C to 35C ,is it ok?
I think its normal.

Just don't fall asleep using the YouTube app with the charger plugged in. I woke up this morning with my phone insanely hot (the whole phone, especially the screen which was still on). Almost too hot to touch, it took a few minutes to cool down after taking the battery out and opening the pad.
I thought it was never going to work again.

So im using tbaldens cm9 and set the CPU to performance, which sets CPU at 1400 constant. So I was playing temple run for about 10 minutes and my battery temp got up to 50 degrees. I have a program called Droid system suite and it said my battery was overheating at that temp. My question is, what is a safe temp for the battery? And how long should that temp be maintained? Thanks advance.

to be safe don't let your battery temperature exceed above 50 c
below that temp its safe

So would it be OK to sit at 50 c for periods of say 30 minutes? It gets bloody hot to touch
Sent from my CM9 Powered HOX
As lithium battery exceeds their operating temperature regulary, it will impact on it's life. While working on overheating state, it may not able to provide stable/enough currents to the phone. Wrost case scenario == blow (ignore, this need really hot).

well i would say if temp reaches 50 c then leave ur phone for some time as it will affect battery life and also don't use ur phone while charging until the battery is charged more than 50% as many times while playing games at charging less than 50% our phone consumes more power than the power it is receiving

It gets to 50 c after only 10 minutes of game time. So you think 50 c for battery is too high? Should I stop gaming if it gets to 50? Don't really care if it uses heaps of battery, just don't want to damage it. Lol.

As most of the smartphones now use LiPo battery, so here is a safety guide:
http://www.icharger.co.nz/articles/ArticleId/3/Lipo-Lithium-Battery-Safety-Guide.aspx
Wowza!!! That's hot!
All good, took it off performance mode and set the minimum speed to 475, seems to be not getting as hot now, where as I had it set to 1400 all the time and it would get really hot...

Yea mine is running under that most of the time on CM10 ROM. Playing 3D intensive games like Dead Trigger. Does get hot after quite sometime but not 10min. Good thinking with the CPU Speed adjustment, i used an overclocked kernel for a short bit @1.7GHz but that got pretty hot pretty fast so I have left that for now. Don't really need it on a quad core. Yet.
Hey guys.. I have a question that bothers me.. when i do heavy gaming on my nexus 7 (2013) my battery drops about 8% every 15mins or so..this is with gps turned off.nfc off.location off.and google services .currents and so forth off.. and brightness on auto..but when i do leave my tablet in deepsleep overnight i only lose about 1% in about 10 hours of deep sleep but when i game my battery drops as fast as 8% in 15mins or so is this normal???
That's more drain than I've ever experienced. Have you tried a CPU monitor, and care to tell us the name of the game(s)?
Sometimes a game can unnecessarily run all CPU cores at full throttle. PBA Bowling is a big drain, though at the pace it uses up the battery, I can still get 6 hours of life.
frontline commando dday.deadtrigger2.dragon slayer. gta .games like that and im not running anything on background cause ive also did a backup to stock so everything got deleted and fresh and still around this rate but i heard its normal cause at this rate my battery would be dead at 3hours or so and i heard thats normal for heavy gaming on a tablet?

I Play Modern Combat 4 Online For Hours (The Whole Day) Without The "Connect Your Charger" Until Late At Night Like 11 Or 12. I Used Play
GTA: San Andreas For Hours ( I Beat It ).
yeah but thats with airplane mode on but i mean i play with airplane mode off and then it only last 3 hours i heard this was normal for a tablet for graphic intense games
i still find it hard to believe u get 10 hours of gameplay google annouched 10 hours of life by doing surfing and moderate use but in heavy use u will not get up to 10 hours

That's seems pretty low. While you can't expect 8-10 hours of actual usage with graphic intense games, I get about 5½ hours screen time over 2 days when I spend the majority time gaming. Even if I did nothing but game on my tablet I expect I'd still get close to 5 hours usage over the course of a day.

I'm Gonna Experiment Without Airplane Mode.
LG G3 D855 32gb
Please suggest me the ROM and KERNEL and MODS.
I play Clash Of Clans and need good camera.
My phone is getting hot within 5 mins of browsing,
If I'm playing games , its temp goes to 74 C instantly..
I'm not able to talk for more time bcoz of heat..
I'm getting around 2.5 - 3.5 hrs SOT.. 5 months old phone.. Battery is not bulged.. So I don't think battery problem..
Using Greenify, Rooted.
ROM tried :
1. Resurrection Remix.
Phone getting hot (MAX hot 74 C) within 5mins of browing.
Clash of Clans lags.
2. Euphoria :
Its not getting tat hot compared to RR ROM.
But Clash of Clans lags.
When I connect F&D 2.1 Speaker through 3.5mm jack, my phone doesn't detect the speaker. It detects Earphones with no issues.
3. CloudyG3 2.4,2.5:
ROM is smooth, but getting hot instantly when I start gaming.
Getting only 2.5hrs SOT if I play Clash of Clans.
4. Stock Lollipop:
I feel the heater here. :silly:
5. Stock Kitkat:
Heat is bearable, but its not stable, laggy.
Please suggest me the ROM and KERNEL and MODS which will not make that hot.
I play Clash Of Clans and need good camera.
Please suggest me.. Im depressed
But... 3.5hours SOT is normal for some if you use 90-100% brightness... Clash of Clans 2.5hr SOT time is okay, as it is demanding online game.
Thermal mod will only break your phone, as the throttling is there for a reason (heat, duh)
I do not see the problem.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm using mostly in 35% brightness.
My problem is its getting hot withing 5 minutes of browsing and within 5 mins of call.
I'm not able to play Clash of clans at all, Once I start playing it, I'm feeling like i'm doing CAMP FIRE.
I heard changing governor in kernel Auditur and some thermal settings will solve the heat issue.
And whether changing the Screen resolution is suggestible?
Thanks

Demanding games make your phone warm. 2G and 3G calling doesn't cause heat.
4G high usage can make this phone hot. Only way to not get your phone warm is by underclocking it, but then games will lag even more. Screen resolution changing may pump the performance, but I don't know how much heat it causes.
This phone has never felt as hot as HTC One, which emit the heat through whole phone due its all metal casing.
I'd advice you to not touch thermal throttling.

I don't have a g3 but I have had issues with the phone getting hot in the past. I suggest trying different kernels to see if it resolves the issue. I currently use an S5 and use Ktoonz Kernel. He has an app called Ktweaker. In this app you are able to change your kernels profiles and scripts. Anytime I experience heat waves I change the profile to fix it. Use a different kernel and see what happens.

try cm12.1 with 777jon r10 kernel, -40 uv (you can try -50 or more if you want) and the thermal files from stock "/system/etc/thermal-engine-8974.conf" (that's the most important)
