[Q] Help fixing HTC one m8 (T-Mobile unlocked) - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

please can anyone help? I recently switched ove r to android and got the gs5 but then realized I wanted the HTC one m8 so I bought it, I'm new to the whole unlocked bootloader and root so I was not 100 percent sure what I was doing but I unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone then I did something stupid and on titanium backup I deleted HTC blink feed and didn't make a back up before, then I pressed the home button and it wouldn't work so I got all freaked out turned off the phone and after a while of fiddiling with the bootloader and recovery (I have twrp) turned my s-off back on and relocked my bootloader, I was afraid and wasn't sure what to do but now the phone won't boot to a home screen its just black if anyone can help i would really appreciate it. Thanks, joshua

For future reference, unless you're returning the device, never relock or go s-on. And I personally don't go s-on for that, especially on T-Mobile. If you ever have issues like this again grab the RUU from HERE and run it. It'll put your phone back to bone stock firmware and you're still unlocked with s-off.

HTC Wildfire does not turn on

Hello there!
I have a 'bricked' rooted Wildfire which will not boot. However, it is able to enter adb mode.
I have tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691639, but "adb reboot fastboot" does not do anything.
adb logcat shows the system trying to start up, but there is absolutely nothing on the phone's screen.
Anyone has any idea?
Thanks!
Is it s-off? If so you can try Fastboot flash of a safe stock rom.

Hi thanks for your reply!
No it isn't s-off'd.
adb reboot fastboot only makes the phone reboot to normal mode... nothing on the screen
RUU doesn't work - it waits for bootloader then times out!
Thanks for your help

Go to revolutionary IRC and they can help you. I can give you some help. If ADB detects the phone type adb reboot boatloader. Then if bootloader shows up, run the RUU.

EDIT: Spoke too quickly! RUU completed successfully but screen is still blank
Well if the phone is not s-off'd you still have your warranty. Just make up a story about your phone just didn't work one day and you did nothing wrong.

[RESOLVED] Stuck on HTC loading screen

I ran a zip file that was supposed to set super user, and now I am stuck at the main screen. I am using revolutionmod and it won't get past this screen. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks.
Need some info. Are you s-off or htcdev unlock or just stock? What did you flash it in? Adb or recovery?

If you are using revolutionary to root it does everything for you so there would be no need to run an extra su zip. From what you are saying it sounds like you are trying to root.
What is your hboot and what Rom are you running? If you are on stock android unrooted 2.3.4 then you will need to downgrade so you will be able to use revolutionary correctly.
Also do NOT use the HTC unlock for the bootloader. You will not be s-off and will regret it.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was gone all day yesterday and figured what the issue was. I forgot to put the updated radio on my SD and then update it. It fixed it and now I'm running Liquid Gingerbread 3.2
Thanks again for the help guys!

Stuck on HTC screen
First I would like to apologize if this is the wrong way to do this as this is my first post as a new member. Please let me know the correct protocal if this is wrong.
I unlocked using HTC bootloader unlock
I rooted Android 2.3.4 using Superoneclick
Deleted Verizon bloatware
I have/had CWM v5.0.2.0-vivow and ROM Manager
Tried to flash custom ROM directly from Rom Manager
Everything seemed like it went well but froze on white HTC screen in reboot
Tried to flash MIUI with CWM and it successfully flashed but stuck on same HTC screen
Tried to restore
Tried to do Factory Data Reset (wiped everything)
Tried the IMG.zip trick and bootloader doesn't read it. (not sure if I have the right ones I need for 2.3.4)
Boots into bootloader and CWM fine but can't get past the HTC screen
Please help or direct me to someone that can so I can SIM unlock for my GF. She has to use a crap phone right now.
I appreciate your time and any effort
1. Htcdev unlock isn't full s off so flashing stuff is more complicated.
2. Name it to PG32IMG.zip
3. You'll get faster replies of you make your own question thread

It's htcdev unlocked
I used ROM manager to download and flash
Then when it froze I tried using CWM to flash MIUI
It said it was successful but still stuck on HTC screen
Try downloading a stock RUU and name it to PG32IMG.zip and put it in the root of your SD card and boot into hboot. Then I would personally suggest going for full s off because flashing ROMs is 10 times easier. But if not, after reverting to stock re flash any ROM you want through whatever process you have to for htcdev unlock

Can't Unlock Bootloader for HTC Incredible 2 Verizon

I have an HTC Incredible 2 for Verizon version 2.2.1 and its is GSM Unlocked. I use GSM not CDMA. I want to root my phone to get the venom rom and version 4.0.3. I was able to get S-OFF on my phone but I am having problems unlocking bootloader. I either got the errors: COMMAND ERROR!!! or it would be stuck on "Waiting for Device". I tried to also update my version 2.2.1 to 2.3.3 but that won't work either everytime I try to update with bootloader it keeps saying wrong zip. Can someone help me out unlock the bootloader and root my phone. I really wanna root my phone and get custom roms. Please help me out. Thank You.
So, its S-OFF and you need to unlock bootloader to install Clockworkmod recovery, correct? I did it with HTC Dev's site ( www htcdev com / bootloader )
Just followed the steps and I got my bootloader unlocked, then installed recovery and ran the root.zip file from there.

This is the last help I'm giving other then that Google will be your friend. Power down the phone. Hold volume - (down) and power. This will take you to your bootloader screen. Hit volume up or down and scroll to fastboot hit power button. FIND the cwm .img from one of those threads and flash that through adb on your computer using the command given in one of those links to Root threads. You phone is S off you already had root. That's all the help I'm willing to give.

S-off is unlocking the bootloader. Basicalky taking the normal security flags or checks that happen during boot process n dropping/overriding them.

im downloading the new ruu but like jmz i also wanted the OTA.
Was running the Claws & went back to my DD (JMZ's deodexed stock) before the upgrade. It overwrote the recovery, so we need to see if the TWRP Recovery will work with 4.1.2 before we can get root again....It updated the radio, but kept it S-off & the CID stayed in modded form.
JMZ--I know I jumped the gun, but I wanted 4.1--so I went for it to see if it would work......

Easiest way is just download ruu from HTC or my site and flash it. Ensure your internal sdcard is backed up and external is removed.
Or just wait till later and I will have stock rooted odex and deodex posted

unfortuantly the only way to keep everything is the OTA. If you flash my rooted JB rom, it most likely will cause a lot of issues.

[Q] Can't flash any rom. Stuck. M8 UK

Hi,
I am not new to rooting and flashing but I seem to have jammed.
I can flash custom recoveries(used both CWM and TWRP) no bother but I cannot flash rom.
I have tried pushing and side loading. TWRP just says failed.
CWM says cannot open update.zip from tmp (bad)
I am unlocked.
I am S-ON so I don't know a way around that atm without a ROM. I have tried reinstalling stock but failed.
HTC one M8 UK EE network.
Would love to fix this please.
I'm a novice, this is my first android phone but I believe you have to be s-off to flash ROMs. I'm on EE too, what I done was paid for Sunshine, about £14 I think, that unlocked the bootloader and s-off. I can flash ROMs no issues.

You don't need to be s-off to flash a custom rom.. just a unlocked bootloader.
Put the rom on your internal sdcard not external sdcard and try again.

I have tried repeatedly, all I get is failed.
Right now I have flashed TWRP.
I am going to try flashing Viper once again and should that fail, try HD revolution.

As I would, normally.
Toolkits cause more issues than they solve.
Try:
fastboot erase cache
Then flash recovery again, and see if that helps.
Also, do you get the phone model number as a response when you type both:
adb devices
fastboot devices
finally fixed it. Now enjoying Venom.

Not entirely sure how i fixed it but I'll list what I did.
Usually I work from a mac but decided to start afresh on my desktop.
I downloaded venom for m8
reflashed TWRP recovery.
Booted to recovery.
wiped cache and such.
Then adb side loaded the rom.
Some reason it worked. I have done this a good few times previously and with various rooms, not just venom.
I was using the AIO toolkit to side load this rather than the ADB cmd prompt.
Thanks for posting the steps that worked for you.
Like you said, hard to say what fixed it. Perhaps getting away from the toolkit, maybe just re-flashing recovery (even though you had done so previously) or wiping cache.
If moving a ROM to the device form the PC, I prefer adb push to adb sideload. Sideload seems to fail sometimes where push is fine. Push is some more steps (booting recovery and a few taps there to flash the ROM) but it seems more reliable. Although if it worked, it worked!
