Hi
Has anyone else had problems with the size of the widgets on the m8? Some of the are fine, but others have a lot of dead space around the widget, which means you can't use all the screen.
A good example of this is the FitBit widget. It won't even let me resize, despite having a border. I can slide the edges in but they jump back out again as soon as I take my finger off.
I have a widget for a trains app, which in terms of the actual widget, takes up 4x2 spaces. However, on the widget menu, it states 4x3. That extra row is just dead space, so I have a small-ish widget at the top of my screen and only room for one more line of apps right at the bottom. Loads of unusable space in the middle of the screen.
It was fine on my Samsung S3.
Any ideas?

I am using the HTC Home plug in on the Today screen and I love the weather portion of it, but that's all I use. As such I've disabled all of the tabs except Weather. The only problem is this leaves about a 20 pixel high tab that takes up the whole width of the screen with the weather icon on it causing me to lose valuable screen real estate.
Does anyone know how I can remove the tabs, either by changing the vertical size of the whole plugin or just flat out removing the tab?
You can do that with "Schaps Advanced Config" tool. There are cabs all over if u don't have it installed.
Almost
Thank you for a link to this cool program, but sadly it doesn't let me do what I'm looking for. It does let me undock the Homeplug from the top of the screen and move it to the bottom, but it becomes dynamic and then the scroll bar covers part of it up.

On the htc clock/weather widget, the little weather picture (sun, sun with clouds, moon) seems to be off lol. For example, its 10 pm, but according to the weather widget, its still sunny outside. I have the location set right, and refreshed/reloaded it a few times as well. Is that normal, or is there some kind of fix?
I had the same problem until I checked my process/app killer and noticed it was being auto-killed so it wouldn't update, in fact it would disappear from the clock and date completely. I would have to click where it should be and bring up the main weather app and hit the refresh button then click back to the home screen and it would refresh there. Find out what app killer is killing the process and put it in the ignore list.
Cheers...
You're not alone. I've seen this problem on my mom's stock HTC hero and my gf's stock Evo as well as my own rooted Evo using damage control Rom. Even more odd is comparing "current" location with exact same location hand selected. Current location will be totally off while same selected location is correct.
Also worth noting is side by side comparisons of HTC weather widget, fancy widget (available in the market) and the weather channel. They will all show different temps and conditions.
I don't know for sure, but my guess is they pull weather data from different sources and sometimes the sources are not providing accurate data.
Also worth noting is that none of the 3 devices I've mentioned were using a task killer.
Its not that much of a big deal to me. It's kind of irritating to not have things line up right, like exact temperatures and the moon or sun, but oh well. I live in Florida, so all I care about is if it will rain or not. Anything over 80 degrees doesnt matter here haha.
Found Zooper last night, and after a day of fiddling rather than doing work I have come up with the following.
The outer circle is the current hour, second is the current minute.
The quarter arc top left is battery level, top right is current CPU usage
Bottom arc is Network Connection Strength
The time at the bottom left is + days.hours.minutes until the next alarm
The weather icon center is current weather, the right one is tomorrows weather.
The left and right arrows are back and forward for the media.
The album art doubles as a play/pause button.
I would appreciate comments and suggestions.
Personally, I don't understand why you have the second clock in the center.
If you remove the second clock in the middle, you can use the resulting space to incorporate the media part without having a separate piece for it.
Move the day of the week with date over to the red arc. Then reduce the top left and right arcs until they match with the ones on the bottom (red lines). Move the entire media part into the center and then figure out the song and artist text positioning.
Just my opinion. I like the layout. Not a huge fan of yellow, my choice would be a pale blue or cyan.
I never use Location service or GPS, unless specifically running Navigation with Maps, other than that, it's always off to save battery life.
The lock screen is killing the look and feel of this phone for me. The lock screen wallpaper seems very dark, and that weather thing showing "unavailable" is always shown. Samsung, and everyone else allows the weather to be set manually by imputing a specific city name or zip code, why does HTC need the location service enabled to do the weather ? Plus why is the lock screen so dark, compared to the home screen wallpaper ? it's like 75% darker on the lock screen.
Plus it's also hard to keep a specific wallpaper set on the lock screen, seems to be if you change the home screen wallpaper, the lock screen changes to the same.
I wish we could just keep it simple like CM13

Click to collapse
For one if you want the weather displayed you need to check Auto detect my location, you can set the update schedule. Don't use Location or GPS oh well.
The lock screen is an ovelay so the pin/number keyboard can be seen on any wallpaper, it has always been like that, its dark for a reason.
If you make you own theme, you can set each wallpaper for home screen, apps screens, app drawer, messages and lockscreen.
Wait for a partially working CM13 ROM.
So i just got the phone last night and i applied both to try and force any and all apps to show notch so i can enjoy all of my screen. Idc how i have to do it but for whatever reason when i open certain apps, they still overlay a gray, white, black, empy bar where my notifications would normally go and its very frustrating.
I gave granular permission, put full screen on every app and even told every app to show the notch... Is there any other way to bypass this issue so i can get any app regardless if it likes the aspect or not to show the notch and remove this bar?
Could still use help with this https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/471469010672812033/544203189558181900/Screenshot_20190210_120903_com.facebook.katana.jpg

Are just some examples. White bar is where it should show the app and if it were digital, my notch
I have this problem with certain apps even forcing show notch just turns in showing a white bar instead of black in landscape.
I don't think there's something we can do about it atm, I guess it's more of an app incompatibilities with notch since it works perfectly with some apps and not the others. Not sure if it's on Huawei or Dev's app side.
When it doesn't work It's better to let it black than white for your screen.
Thankfully I'm glad I'm not the only one and it's not just a me problem. Thing is. IDK how to force a certain color up above. Like for example if I use Nova to swipe up as search, it will just put a white bar up there... And you can see someone else is doing it cause for a split millisecond it shows the operation as intended with just the search box. Quickly after though it sticks that bar. Same thing with for example Sao internal factor (game)
When you start up the game it'll give you the entire screen, but soon as you check your mail or news and close them, the white line takes over where the notch is. Very frustrating and I feel like it's in the system, not the game... But who knows I could be wrong
I just hope a mod or fix is made soon because if I had know I would not be able to take advantage my entire screen, I would never have bought the phone
