They said specifically that it will be available for The Nexus 7 2013 edition
Sadly not the 2012 edition

I hope that I can side load Android L on my Nexus 7 2013. I'm not a developer, but I really hope to enjoy that new interface. As far I can judge from google io live stream it looks very nice

Looks like we are getting it don't know when though can't wait!

You can install it tomorrow if you want to. Not as an update, but as a factory image. Of course the 2012 version will get it as well.

Will wait for the deva to get ahold of it first

That will probably be several months, I don't think they are releasing the source code tomorrow. Not to hate on any devs, but I'm pretty sure an official (albeit "preview") build, like the one that will be released tomorrow will be just as good as any custom ROM from a developer. Pretty sure the actual developers know what they are doing...

True-dat

Somebody will make it available for the 2012 version.

Tomorrow people are going to have their hands on the developer edition so things are looking good!

UPDATE On HTC DESIRE OFFICE FROYO UPDATE DELAY

Called HTC today. Gentleman said that google has not released 2.2 to HTC yet for development so it definitely won't be released on 23rd (today). He said when they have it, there will be a schedule released on the front page of htc.com/www/
already got it. apparently

why say "delay"?
HTC didn't officially say that it will be released today, 23 June.
Just my 2 cents.
Oh Goodness T_T
this is real sad.
Bet so many desire owners feels the pain =(
what to say, htc support!

.... How is it sad?, Google haven't released the source.....look at what roman guy said

Everyone can start complaining once the source is released, but until then, god quit blaming HTC. and yes I know HTC probably already has the source, and has probably already updated Senseui for it, but until Google finalizes it, HTC won't release an update.

who's got what??
I don't want to use words like other people about lack of google's informations about any release date, unprofessionnal support, htc support etc... I'm sure they would better hire some of you guys to help them! You are the one which are giving us what we need, not google nor htc. I'm sorry, but feeling like moving to another OS, being iOS or WM7... too disappointed, sorry.
The only people you should be disappointed in are the rumourmongerers who got you thinking that some official source had promised to get you FroYo on 23 June.

You're right jstegeman... Even by myself trusting and hoping these. But I had hope in Google as well and not having any fix release date look to me unprofessionnal... the term "shortly" used by them can mean days, weeks, months... Is it so difficult to say the release date will be the xx of xx year xx and keep that date?
Sorry but this might come from my Swiss habits, having the clock's at the right time, no improvisation, organization... I hate "not knowing" and am quite impatient lol

Right. I hope impatient people do move to other handsets and stop posting in the wrong section as well as creating more new threads for the same-pointless- arguments. Go outside and have some fun, walk the dog, etc.

I dont know if this is true, but seems more reliable than words of a customer, lets hope for the best
zdnet is reliably.
and it ever was.
they will lost the good reputation, they worked for if this isnt true
and i dont think, they wanna risk it
This happens again and again and people believe this. Guys, first of all this is a stupid excuse from customer support.
Do you really think that Google lets HTC wait for release like the rest of us? They have been working on 2.2 from early stages too, they must if they want to release timely 2.2 devices.
Secondly, they would never ever release a froyo build before google.

Sorry Swissman,
but a new release of a OS is NOT a FIX as you defined it.
There have been fixes available on the air, and - afaik - no other os-manufacturer does release on-the-air fixes like Google does.
Moreover, you bought a mobile phone with a working os, and - always afaik - you cannot blame Google in being supposedly in delay for a new release of an OS.
What should you think then about Microsoft for Windows 7 or Apple for OS 4????? Not to talk about Meego or else.....
Please have a cup of tea and try and have a different opiniono about "unprofessionality"....

He meant a FIXED date not a fix for the OS
hey seanomccool, you just got a scoop (not)!
People with some common sense knows it since a few weeks: froyo isn't officially released yet on it's primary platform, so no way it could be released today on the desire! In fact, google just told that there's no ETA yet for froyo.
dont panic m8s,it will happend soon

[Request] ICS Rom for Kindle Fire

I know is premature,
but what about a full port of ICS on the KF?
Is it possible?
Considering the lack of physical buttons, it may be the very best version of Android to port on the KF. I think the best of community effort should be focused on that.
thanks...
b.
It's possible, anything is possible. We are not really ready for this step yet though, we need a working recovery first. There are people working on both the recovery and ICS

I have no doubt that most devs will be focusing on ICS for the Fire, but as SikYou stated; the first step is getting a solid recovery to work with.
If I were to give you rough timeline estimates, it would generally look like this (guesstimates based on timelines of other devices throughout the years) :
Root - Within one week or day of release for popular devices (achieved)
Recovery - Between one week and a month (my guess would be first week in december for a solid recovery. Koush seems to be continuing work on the Nexus S, then moving to the Galaxy Nexus next, doesn't appear that he has time to focus on CWM for the fire. Expect others to step in and get a working recovery.
Kernels - This one could be all over the place. It seems that there is solid progress so far, so you might see something beta ready in december. I would wager that stable versions won't pop up until early january though.
ROMs - This one's tough, you'll see devs being able to put out ROMs in december, but I don't expect stable builds to be showing up until january. I also expect to see the Cyanogenmod team come up with a status report early january, with a stable release in mid - late january.
Hopefully this is all wrong and the devs work enough miracles to give us some early christmas presents
As always, they're hard at work for creating great new options for our devices. So, devs, keep up the good work and we'll support you all the way.
Many thanks for your quick answers... and for your infinite patience with us newbies...

I'm sure people will figure out how to put all sorts of stuff on this thing just for fun, but they're already there 100% for normal users- they've got a root that allows the Google Market and Google Apps to run on it, while keeping the Amazon integration working that this device is sold for. XDA's improvements to the Kindle Fire have been fast and impressive. Now, if iPhone Dev Team would get working on the 4S....

PTPT-New Beta Software for Android

Hey guys, just wanted to share this with you. Thought it was pretty neat and a fresh take on android since the roms lately kinda seem like the same old stuff anymore, not to put down the great work the devs of this community put out. I just signed up to be a beta tester so hopefully they'll email me back saying i can test this software. I believe this would be considered closed source, but would be great if they approached this community for input into this OS. If this has been covered already, mods please let me know and this posting can be deleted.

I didnt see any new OS there. Just some apps running on a year old galaxy s2. The video was from almost a year ago

New PTPT Beta Release
Hi t1.8matt,
I was able to try PTPT's previous version and I agree -> a definite fresh take on android They'll be launching a newer release some time next week. Probably Friday March 22, so stay tuned. Along with the release, there will be an easier way for beta testers to login and download the .apk.
I wanted to share a video with you re: PTPT but currently, I am not allowed to post outside links
Cheers!
Honestly, I watched a couple videos on it and dont really find the UI pleasing to the eye. But I guess I will keep an eye on it just in case.
PTPT New UI
Hi jsgraphicart, PTPT's initial UI needed to be a lot more user friendly. I saw the latest version of their UI and there has been much improvement. Hopefully, you'll join as a beta tester when the new release comes out next week. I'll make sure to send you the link.
Cheers!

Thanks so much for trying the link. We're in the process of making the LOGIN a lot easier, with a link to download the .apk.
It should be ready by this Friday, March 22.
I'll let you know once everything is done.

Android 7 coming in Q3

Looks like we're getting the Latest Version on our G4!
Q3 Release
If it's not rootable many people won't be interested, myself included. But it's good to know for those people that don't like their phone to be as awesome as possible. :good: But who knows, maybe someone will figure out how to root it where they couldn't marshmallow.

Android 11 on Nexus 7?

Just a general question for the experts out there who I look up too! Does anyone have any idea when/if we will get Android 11 on this device? I'm aware its still very early and for the most part Android 10 is still a bit rough around the edges here however I'm just a bit curious and wanted to get a conversation started. I'd love to see this tablet live on! Be sure to leave your thoughts below!
Thanks in advance, Cheers!
well with dwindling developers, android 10 seems to be like end of the road. but anyone willing to pick up the banter, it should not be a huge challenge to go A11. as of now, enjoy A10

Unfortunately you might be right. However we'll see what happens after the Nexus 7 gets an official release with LineageOS they may move onto Android 11 and I'm really hoping they do.
I cant believe I am saying this but Android 11 Is here!
