Inside this folders i put all my MP3s notifications and rigtones, and when i go to setings -> sounds -> ringtones or notifications i can chose it...
But seens like this didnt work in my Z1c
How do you add new tones to the default ringtone/notification selector?

I keep all of mine on my external card and my phone has no trouble reading/detecting them. I keep them in a similar path (/sdcard1/media/audio/notifications).
Maybe you just need to clear your Media Storage data to force a re-scan? (I found that on my previous phones, after clearing the Media Storage data, a restart of the phone would help - just give the phone some time to do the re-scan. If you have lots of media, let it sit for like 10 minutes)
I hope this helps!

I know this problem. After reboot I could activate my new ringtones from internal storage. (media/ringtones or media/notifications)
I hope this helps.
Deleting media storage data and rebooting solve the problem!
Thanks so much guys!

How do you set custom ringtones?
I added some music files to my phone into a folder in my SD card called music.
My phone plays them just fine, but when I go use folder explorer and go to the song file and long press I don't get an option to set it as a ringtone.
Also, if I go to the option of choosing a ringtone, my choice is only of those default ones.
I am running CM 6.1.
thx!
In Music, long press on the song and select 'Use as phone ringtone.'
You could also put any songs you want specifically as ringtones into /sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
download ringdroid from the market
Omg the solution is so simple.
I almost want to cry.
Thanks though!

I added some ringtones to the phone and when I use the music player, it's picking them up and playing them. Anyway to hide these? I also had a voicemail play too. That was bizarre. I had an older phone on Froyo and tried .nomedia but then the ringtone wouldn't work. Will it work on Gingerbread? Thanks!
I have my music and videos on my external SD card... and my internal stuff like ringtones on the internal SD card. That does the trick for me although I don't use the Music and Video apps that come with the phone.
Very simple. Create an empty file and name it ".nomedia" and put it in the directory that you want to hide. It will also hide any folders within that folder. For example, I put the .nomedia file in the root directory of the internal SD card. Rebooted the phone and ran gallery and everything on that card was invisible. It just tells the program to not scan here and anything deeper. It works for audio files too.

Thanks but when I tried that on Froyo, it hid the files so completely that I couldn't even choose them as ringtones! Is that fixed on GB?

Find the ringtones and move them to the media folder. Place the ringtones in the correct folder in media. There's 3 folders in that one folder ringtones, notifications, and record. Make sure you place them in the correct one. For example if you put a ringtone in the notification folder when you try to set ringtone it won't be in the list of ringtones but in the notification list and would only be available to be set as a notification. Hope that helps!

Thanks! That's brilliant. So easy too. Worked great. I didn't have those folders so had to create them. Would have been nice if Android would automatically create them so you know where to put stuff. Or did it and I deleted them?

thanq for the help
Guys, please direct my old head towards adding custom notifications to text, email etc, that I have on my external SD card in mp3 format. It was easy to add my ring tone as that one had add on the bottom of the page. None of the other notifications have that.
Had no problems with my original Note. Is JB so different? Or did my old head forgot how I did it on GB.
Your help greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
I haven't tried it with files on the external SD but for my notifications (also .mp3) I just put them in a folder called "Notifications" on the internal memory. It may work on the external SD too, I'm not sure.
Yes just create folder on external sd and call it ringtones or notifacations..if that dont work copy ur mp3 to system media then audio copy in there

I had problems for some reason until I used Ringdroid.
Not sure what - permissions or something?
- Frank
Many thanks for all your replies. After going to my external memory card and finding the relevant mp3 files and ticking them, I did eventually find the copy button. It was then an easy task to paste them in to my notification folder.
Think my problem was to find the copy and paste button/tab in the first place.
Many thanks again.
Regards,
I don't really like selections of ringtones and notification sounds that come on this device. I found a file containing all the stock Android ringtones and notification sounds, and they are all in the .ogg format like the files on the phone already. After rooting and copying the files over to the media folder the files don't seem to play. I tested the files on my PC and they play fine. Do i have to do any type of conversion to make this work?
P.S.
I got the sounds for this post

Did you trying giving them the same permissions as the original ringtones?

You shouldn't need to convert it. I use ring droid social to edit ringtones from music I have on SD card and DL notifications from websites

So i have following problem:
Lately i was transferring some music and i transferred some photos as album art in folder on sd card music-> and several folders that correspond pictures and artists..
However, all of those pictures are showing in gallery... How to remove them (only from gallery of course)?
Thanks in advance!
i think there is file that is called (.nomedia) will do the trick
when you copy this file into a folder, then the system will not show media inside..
i don't really know where is this file located but try to search for it in system folders..
another way (but i am not sure about it), try to make this pictures as hidden files
An easy way is to use the app Quick Pic
I always used quick pic until the the new jb gallery which is amazing, but certain features are missing, like hide, edit option with different applications,
If some dev could make a mod it would be amazing......

Try clearing the player cache, or check for a resync option. Maybe dropping a new file in will force it to update.
