Hi all, just received my new HTC one M8 today and glad I went for it, been an avid HTC user since they first came out and am really pleased.
Looking for a bit of advice. I have copied an image onto the front screen as a widget from the android image gallery and then one of one of my own photos, however it is tiny, any way of increasing the size????. On my previous HTC one X it was approx 3/4 centimeter square but on the new M8 it is about a 1/4 square.
Also looking for a case that will protect it from the elements as spend a lot of time in dusty conditions. Looking at the Supcase beetle defender or the Love MEI case. Both these cases have an extra glass and dust covers over the ports. Anyone any advice which to go for????. My only concern re the Love MEI one is that all of them seem to be in China or come from China so not sure of the authenticity.
Thanks again all

For suggestions on cases for the device check this thread: One (M8) Accessories There are plenty of threads where they discuss cases.
I'm not really sure about the other point you have, are you using a specific app to make widgets of pics? If so, which? I don't see an option to do such a thing on my phone, so I can't really test it and see if I can find a solution to it. Not much help there, sorry.

Had my One X for a week and already I have a couple scratches on the camera lens... I'm ultra careful with my devices too!
This is simply from just sitting my phone down as it rests on the lens..

I'm thinking now that I'm going to have to order a case... I hate putting cases on my phones... Especially the one x as it's pretty huge as is..
What case did you order?

My only gripe with this phone is that there is no protective ring around the camera.
You need a case with this phone unless you want scratches on the camera lens. Kind of a bummer cause I prefer my phones naked.

i didnt order one yet, at&t around here is getting the One X(L) the 6th of May which is coming up so once that comes in i'll get a case from there. Amazon retailers had ugly cases and they said 18-26 days shipping to the states. F that noise.
p.s. i hate cases too, i might have bought a case when i acquired the phone but i figured the lens was set inside the metal ring more and that the gorilla glass would hold up but after seeing someone on these forums with a shattered screen already, i am not taking any chances.
There appear to be two protector screens on the market that come with a protector for the lens. I tried ordering both. The Nillkin from piyobaby on fleabay has been a noshow since being ordered on April 13 despite an email to the vendor and I will probably have to dispute payment. The Martin Fields came through Amazon and seems fine to me, though I did see an allusion to failed application elsewhere on these boards. So ymmv, but I think trying to keep the lens from scratching is worth the effort.

I picked up a case for this very reason. Got a shell case on Amazon for $5.00 and it seems to do a great job protecting the nipple,

Yeah i'l ultra careful with my phone too and i place it on a soft surface everysingle time and still got the scratch, it's crazy.
At home i rest it on the leather couch arm
At work i rest it on a notepad
any other time its in my pocket
In the car i have one of those non slip gel mats.
Had mine 6 weeks now and, touch wood, nothing done to it.
This is my biggest fear as well.
I dont care about the non-removable battery or no sd-card, neither if the SGS3's Exynos processor wipes the floor with Tegra 3.
But this Camera Design is really off the charts. I received my One X yesterday and only carried it in my really clean jeans pocket without anything else. Tiny scratches already. Think that a screen protector will noticeably lower camera quality in various situations.
I thought I had a scratch the other day but it came off.
When I put my phone down it is always on top of my official htc leather case, seems to be doing ok so far, touch wood.

Interesting conversation, but my Martin Fields protector seems to be doing fine re the lens. Just a couple of points: this is an 8 mp phone camera. No special claims about the lens glass quality, although one aspect that very much attracted me is that it shoots at f2. The software is not Lightroom quality and even if it were, the camera makes no pretentions to shooting raw. Even on a supposedly high-quality camera like my Leica, with not exactly cheap lenses, you would shoot raw to maximize the possibility of achieving a high quality output. If shooting in a dark environment and using a flash, your photo can still come out looking unevenly lit, hazy, etc., depending on a lot of factors. If you choose to shoot without a flash, well, not all cameras do well at their highest claimed ISO, which is one reason that people use tripods with a lower ISO and slower shutter speed.
I prefer not having to deal with a scratched lens that could end up ruining every photo to occasionally dealing with some of the effects of glare/flare, etc. Which is one of the reasons I finally caved and decided a couple of my Leica and dslr lenses needed protective filters - and purists will often tell you that even the best "interfere" with the lens.
Try shooting without the flash whenever possible. At f2, this little phone camera can do more than you think and actually produces better (imo) colors.
there are cases on ebay (uk) for £1.25 free p+p that stick out just above the camera so it wont touch anything.

After a month of use I too have a few scratches on the lens glass around the rim. Nothing to compromise the capture quality yet, but it is clear that this issue will progress without protective measures.
I have been quite careful with the device, carrying it in my pocket without anything else, and now and then putting it on a table. Seems like in incredibly bad engineering solution to make both screen and back cover scratch resistant, yet let the camera lens be compromised so easily, plus placing it right where the phone inavitably contacts any surface it rests on.
I have scratches on ly lens as well. I now put a bit of protection foil over it, which I can replace.
I have scratches as well. I have been really carefull with my phone. The scratches are just from setting it down and thats it. It amazes me that they made the lens design like this. Having the Ring stick out a tad further would have prevented all of this.
I just started using a pouch as I dont like the normal cases. Sometimes I still need to set my phone down and dont want to put it back in the pouch if its going to be for a second.
Thinking about buying the the HTC flip case. Unfortunately they only have it in white and I have the black phone.
Guys are you sure you have a scratch in the camera lens or just a light reflection from inside the Camera because this what I used to think for the past three weeks until last night I was cleaning My Hox and I realized its not a scratch its just a light reflection coming from inside the camera I even told my brother to check it and he said the same thing.
Hello, pretty new to this forum, but just wanted to thank everyone for the help in advance. I know there are similar threads and there is a master thread for cases, but I've looked though most of it and was unable to find a solid answer.
Basically, I am looking for a semi transulent thin case for the HTC One XL (US Version) that provides a lip for camera protection. I have found some interesting models online, but I am unable to figure out if they would be comptabile with the US version. If anyone could link me or provide insight on the fit to the US model that would be great.
I have listed below a few names of possible cases that I need verification on for fit to US version.
Nillkin Hard Cover Case (White)
HTC HC C700 Ultra Thin Hard Shell Case (Clear) <--- Would be my favorite option, but most concerned about fit
BENKS Magic Cookies <--- Looking for a place to buy this, but also concerned about fit
Once again, I understand that there are similar threads, but this thread is mainly concerned with the fit to the US version of the HTC One X.
Thanks gain.
buddy, try the xl forums. i dont think the internatinal hox forums can help you. we all have the int hox, and minimal people have both, ue luck is better off there.
also, cases that are stated for the int hoc would have misaligned camera holes for the lte hox, so really no luck for you there
I'll give you my experience.
I bought an AT&T One X and lots of cases (8) for the US Version One XL, unfortunatelly I received a Grey one instead of the one I requested so I took the paypal money and bought and international version and let me tell you that all my cases, car dock and desktop dock work like if it was the same phone, and to be honest with you I saw no difference in tickness.
Hi guys,
I want to buy a new one x but I can't make up my mind about the color yet. I mean I like the white one but I'm worried that it will get dirty easily specially that I intend to use it without a cover. Can you share on your experience using a white one x without a cover?
Mine has stayed pretty clean. I use it with and without a case.
It really depends on who's carrying the phone, there are some clumsy people who just put their mobile anywhere they like, and their are some people who are just conscious who keeps thinking what if i put it here and there will it get some scratch or so whatever.
For me, just keep it balance, put the phone in a place that you know it'll be safe and neat, though i am one of the owner of black one, white HOX is pretty descent as well, my cousin has one and he is still maintaining the smoothness and cleanliness of it.
It doesn't get dirty much but I always have a case as I read a newspaper on my morning commute to work and the ink rubs off very easily onto the phone or clear or white cases. So I use a black case so it doesn't show any ink marks! As long as your hands are clean it should stay white.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
I have the white one close to four months now. At first, I used a case because I feared dirt or scratch marks. But after one or two weeks I ditched the case and never looked back. My phone is still clean and I have no scratch marks whatsoever.
I have white one x no problems I don't even use a case but I recommend waitin for the one x+ should be out soon

Couldn't find one so I made it. I have trouble reaching accross the screen on my HTC One and OneXL and kept dropping it. I noticed tablets have cases with a strap and my phone needed one.
I bought a Rocketfish slim as he'll hard case and put a thin hole right under the camera eye, just tilted a little to fit my grip. Took a piece of Velcro strap ran it through the hole and around a bottom grove I also cut slightly.
This has been something I've done with every phone since my One XL and can't live without it. I can drive , walk, run, kick the dog, and never drop it.
I can reach the other side of the screen and the power button on top. Then twirl it around like Jesse James and holster it. Ha!
Cheap, easy!

Mate you need a shield called Rhino Shield to protect your phone...
Yeah Hes Right Mate
I have a shield on it I hvae an Invisishield on the screen..
thats the best you could possibly get. the HD version which arguably differentiates color better than the stock screen wiped clean.

It is black.... its the M7 At&t version. I dont think its anything special. Put a invisishield on it. that strap is the best thing Ive ever had for any cell phone.

this is better than the fly grip.. actually if I started producing this case mod I would put that poor little company out of business.. This is the best mod or any accessory that Ive ever had for any cell phone. It holds my phone on my finger and I can use wireless charging and NFC. Flygrip didnt think that far ahead. An accident that I cant live without now..

Mod Edit
Looks cool. I really like the modular design idea... I can easily see that being the future of cases.

Yes I agree
Bought it also. Not bad, but bulkier than the regular ice view, and the cover detaches much too easily in my opinion. And, no big deal, but the colors don't match my red 10 one bit...
The cover detached what do you mean you can remove the front cover and keep the back shell. Do you prefer original
Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
I mean the front cover goes off with no effort, it's too easy to remove from the shell. I don't feel too confident in it.
ah ok
im looking for a case... thinking spigen transparent currently have incipio octane but think its too heavy
The Diztronic is as perfect as it gets IMHO.

I just noticed this on htc.com today- I hadn't seen it before. Two things:
HTC needs to make their cases more known to the customer. HTC should include a case when purchasing the 10, or at least put a small insert in the box so the customer is aware they even exist!
Secondly, this case is very interesting. I would like to see other innovative attachments. I'm not sure what they would be right off. I don't personally need or use a stand other than when I'm at work at work for my desk. I would like to hear others' ideas for additional modules.
Interesting fact. I ordered this from Amazon, but before I received it, someone else also bought it for me, as a gift. The one I got as a gift works perfectly.
Today I got the one from Amazon, which I opened because I was planning on selling it to someone else, since I don't need two cases.
But this Klik case does not work properly, in the sense that the Ice View interface does not show up. It does light up the display and turn off, when you uncover/cover the display, but the double tap to wake does not work. I'll be returning the case to Amazon.
Has anyone else had issues with the IceView / Klik case?
Very weird. The only element that triggers the ice view interface and what goes along with it is the magnet in the round badge. It should work just the same, no matter which magnet sits on the screen... It even works with a fridge magnet.
Is this case light weight
Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
I weights about 45 grams, just like the first Ice View. Not the lightest around, but nothing dramatic.
i might just keep my phonenaked for now
shame no stores have the ice view to look at. how useful is the ice view notificaitosn
