[Q] Any custom ROMs for the i467 version? - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

I have root and am well aware that Samsung/AT&T have left their Note 8 model out to dry in terms of an official update. Are there any custom ROMs available? I quickly looked into installing TWRP or CWM recoveries, but came up with nothing. CM11 only lists the 51xx models as well.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Look in the Developers thread. There is now a great 4.4.2 ROM for the i467M, which is the Canadian version, with a good custom kernel. Everything works, wifi, LTE etc.
However, if you have the AT&T version, I think your problem is not the ROM, it's the locked bootloader.

Yea, good call. Does look like it's the bootloader that's the problem. Ah well, thanks anyways.

[Q] S3 i747 vs i747m

Hi,
I find the i747 vs the i747m issue quite confusing. Could someone in the know, please explain what the differences are (software/hardware). My S3 is the i747m (Canadian), rooted and CWM installed, but it is unbranded. I presently use the android 4.1.1, I would like to update to something a bit newer, but after many hours of reading, I'm still unsure as to which software to use. I have tried a couple of the roms listed on XDA, but get a consistent "Status 7" error when trying to flash.
Thanks for any educational comments.

There is no difference in the 2 models. The 747m is the Canadian equivalent of the ATT version. Your status 7 is likely due to your bootloader being older. More information may help, such as what you are trying to flash and what you are looking for. Do you want stock or AOSP etc. Your profile says Public Mobile, is this actually your carrier?

Tanks for your reply. It is appreciated. I will look into getting an updated ver of the bootloader. My present ver is, ' i747MVLDLDLK4'.
Obviously a bit out dated?! .

Update to the latest 4.1.2 from your carrier and you should be able to flash what you want from there. If you are going to be moving on to 4.3, you can flash rogers, bell or telus 4.1.2 as you will need to wipe anyway.

[Q] Custom Rom for I467

Got a Note 8 (I467) for xmas, and while it's nice to play with, I really want a custom rom for it.
Does anyone one if cyanogenmod or any other custom option is available.
many thanks.

If you have AT&T variant then we have nothing, not even 4.2.2 or an unlocked bootloader. It's frustrating, but it is what it is. If you are looking for custom ROMs, look at a wifi only version or a different device.

As far as I can tell, we don't have any custom roms for the AT&T i467. The best we can do is root and a deodexed stock rom.
Root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2430540
Deodexed Stock Rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2569865
Read everything carefully and don't apply the OTA CAMF2 update if you want to flash the deodexed stock rom.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
I think I'm going to start looking at this. ?

[Q] SGH T999 and Roms.

I had recently obtained a s3 its a T-mobile, its running 4.1.2, with the T999UVDMD5 baseband. I rooted it, flashed xposed(haha the only thing XD). Well, reading about/friends have said there was trouble with the 4.3 update so I decided to stay on 4.1.2.
However, now I've decided to flash a custom rom, and I have noticed the different labels(D2lte, D2tmo, D2usa) and I had read from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736477 "As of right now, the roms for your S3 are not meant to be used on other S3 variants" .
I have a few questions:
1.There was a baseband update, should I update it? If so, how exactly?
2.Would it be wise to flash a D2lte on This T-mobile device? I was looking at Resurrectionhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2692481(originally waiting on cm11 but.. Yeah lol)
3.Looking at KitKat rooms, which ones could I flash?
4.Would it be safe, if I did flash a 4.4.2 to restore a nandroid backup of my fresh rooted stock 4.1.2.
5.Lastly, what kernel would you say use?(Sorry to ask, curiosity as to which i could flash)
I appreciate taking your time to answer my questions and have a good day!
1) custom recovery.. There are zips available to flash
2) d2lte covers all d2 devices so its safe
3)Any on the development threads
4) Yes
5) like on 3, you can flash any kernel in the development threads, experiment and see which one works the best for you!

Thank you! Time to get to work!

To answer your questions:
1. You do not need to update your firmware - I'm still on MD5. Modems, however, can be flashed separately from firmware.
2. You can flash d2lte ROMs on this phone as it's all one unified build for US SGS3 variants. (I.e. T-Mobile/AT&T/Sprint/Verizon SGS3 is now all built under d2lte).
3. As far as which KK ROM to flash...just try them all out and see which ones you like the best. Each ROM has different features - see which one is right for you.
4. If you don't update your firmware, then yes. (FYI, flashing a custom KK ROM does not update your firmware. However, if you flash one of the 4.3 root66 files that has firmware included, then it will update your firmware).
5. Again, try it out. It's hard to say which ROM/kernel combination will work best. I suggest you read the forums to see what people think of them.
Hope that helps.

No problem, and i forgot to say but the only time you might need to update modem is if you flash a 4.3 touchwiz ROM, other than that its not really needed unless you want to experiment and see if one gives you better results

Oh, and one more thing: DO NOT flash a ROM that is for the international version of the SGS3 (i9300). It will, most definitely, brick your phone.
Don't know if you knew that or not...just wanted to make sure.

Sweet ROMs in the international forum

Hadn't been over there in quite a while, but the N7105 forums have some sweet ROMs if you're looking for a change that should work fine on our phones...
Currently running "CM Remix" which has everything but the kitchen sink for an AOSP rom, and so far seems very smooth and stable

They should all be safe to flash. Same hardware on the internal LTE variant.
The build.prop and APNs may vary slightly, but many of the ROMs in this forum are exactly the same as their international versions anyway

By checking for a modem in the zip as the n7105 modem isn't compatible with AT&T or t-mobile. If modem is in the zip I usually just replace with proper modem for your carrier.

No since it's AT&T you will need an AT&T modem in the phone as any other modem will cause an unknown baseband.

Got it, thanks!
Still running the ROM I mentioned in the OP, and it has too many features and too few flaws (none!) for me to try any other!
New build made yesterday - gonna try that, though
BTW, didn't have to change anything to get it optimized for the ATT model- even the APNs were all set up (unless maybe I restored settings that I wasn't aware of)...
1st Nov 2014 (ver 3.0.5.0 STABLE Fix)
Kernel : bundled with latest agni kernel ( Boeffla Sound version with new wifi module)
Update SuperSu to ver 2.16
native support to F2FS (no need to flash any convertor, native support F2FS partition of System. Internal data and Cache partition)
Fixed ART mode * (1 st Nov 2014)

Looks like a great rom!. I'm assuming this rom is ok to flash for any LTE variant (Bell) since it doesn't include a modem?

Should be fine! Just back up as you always would with TWRP and make sure you backup the modem as well. That way you'll always have one backed up if you need it just in case...
Yep, as long a modem isn't included in the zip (which it *typically* isn't in the case of AOSP based roms), you're good to go.
I personally don't even flash t0lteatt roms when they're available and instead use their t0lte counterparts, as the t0lte versions are sometimes more likely to be updated more often (and in some cases the t0lteatt device tree has been abandoned entirely!)
And if anyone's wanting to build a rom from source, while we're on the topic of AOSP roms, the t0lte tree is the way to go as far as the Galaxy Note 2 LTE models are concerned.

What reminded me to check the international forum was when I went to deactivate my old phones in Google Play Music, I noticed most of them were listed as an N7105- and all of the ROMs were downloaded from this forum anyway...
I was wondering about trying Roms from that forum too. I kept seeing posts where someone said something about a DN4 Rom. So I looked it up and downloaded..........only to find that it is not one of the Roms that works on our phone.......as of yet. It did flash and start up, but before I could make it past the welcome screen, I got a bunch of pop-ups about various items "quit working." And they kept coming back. And then I had the unknown baseband with no signal.................basically it just doesn't work. Damn shame too, cause it looked so nice. But this did make me look at the other Roms and I will be trying a few of them. I must say though, DN4 had my mouth watering for the GN4 experience on my 2.

[Q] upgradE to newest firmware(4.16.401.10) and still run 4.4.4?

I was hoping to upgrade my firmware(3.32.531.2) to the newest version(4.16.401.10). My baseline nand back up is the original htc tmobile 4.4.4 rom after it was boot loader unlocked, rooted, and s-offed, but nothing else.
If I upgrade to the latest and greatest firmware will that rom still run, or can that only work with android 5.x?
Basically I wanted to upgrade the firmware, make sure that all works, then move to a 5.x rom. I've tested a few 5.x roms and they worked with the older firmware, but I was curious if people knew if it worked the other way?
Thanks!
Device:

current firmware 3.32.531.2

It does work the other way, better than old firmware and new ROM. With old FW and a newer ROM, you will possibly have data connection issues, particularly WiFi.

So to be clear: old firmware and new rom works(and I've tried it) but may have issues(I had lte issues but was fine with wifi) but also new firmware old rom shouldn't cause real issues(aka unbootable)? When I was doing this with my old htc sensation sometimes that wasn't the case(but this was back in the good old gingerbread days). New rom(ics) and old firmware was bad news.
If something goes wrong, I want to be able to roll back to my working nand back up of 4.4.4, but if the firmware doesn't allow it, I could have some serious issues.

Great That's what I wanted to know! I had to wait months to s-off..(sunshine 3.x+) after having free reign with my sensation. I'm just so excited!
Nice to know.
And what about Xposed? If i don't get wrong, it doesn't work on Lollipop because Lollipop is ART-based.
So it should not be any way related to firmware, meaning that I could have the latest firmware (able to support a Lollipop ROM), a Kitkat based ROM AND working Xposed.
Could it be?

I don't use Xposed, but I believe it will work fine with new firmware as long as you are still on a 4.4.4 base. Xposed modifies /system which is part of the ROM.

Oh yah. Going great. I've settled on LeeDroid as my daily driver, but want a gpe/aosp version that works better in the end. CM12, Blisspop, skydragon(and I've tried others) have all had an issue or two for me that pulled me back to leedroid's. I've not wanted to make the switch to full GPE conversion yet, but maybe one day...
