Hmm how long has it been since setting it all up. It might just be all of the google stuff syncing... I had the same thing happen to me! Leave it for 20 minutes or something and see if it works any better
same issue here.. I HATE IT
I doubt it is because of root or rom. I had this issue as wel up until yesterday. It was suddenly fixed. I think because I usually install apps using Astro (or any file explorer), because of hard resetting etc. I thought maybe if i install an app directly from the market, it would fix it. I installed 'msn talk', did a reboot and it's fast now.. I don't know if this was what made it work, but it's working great now.
edit: before that I tried to uninstall a market update and reinstall again. But it was still slow after uninstall, reinstall and cleared caches.
I am on a non rooted device btw.
I`ve rooted 4 devices today and all same to have this issue .. ?
Just out of interest were any of you also missing the "top paid" tab as well. It was missing from my market after rooting as well as the slowdown, then it just appeared about a half hour in. Also did any of you have a similarly slow market when you first got the device. I am on T-mobile and for the first couple of days it was lagging in much the same way as it is now. Maybe it is to do with something new devices do, like the Google sync suggested.
I found that it is best to install all apps manually. Backup programs somehow slow everything down for me! Plus I dont know if the updates are pushed to you because the g market doesnt think you have installed them
My market is so slow but I didnt rooted my device

is that new issue or something to do with android market??? recent update or something? or it is just the desire? Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
It's the same with mine (not rooted) since about 4 days. Have to keep rebooting even to try and install/uninstall anything.

Hmm..
No problems here at all.
Fast market, top paid apps showing.
Rooted with r3 linux cd method.
did not install a2sd.
so far no hiccups at all.
I'm getting this. Rooted, Apps2SD.
Been on a few different ROM's, now back to the original rooted one.
Not all of my restored apps (using Titanium Backup) were showing when I went to Downloads. What I have just done is got Settings - Applications - Manager Apps and cleared the market cache and all the apps seems to have returned. Still very slow though... but maybe getting quicker. Is it a syncing thing?
Anyone that did have the slow down, is it getting quicker now?
I can confirm, clearing the market cache seems to fix this.

Hello,
Yes before i rooted the Market was a dogs arse, Very slow, then after a day or to, it was as fast as i would expect it to be, then i rooted my device, again it was slow for a few days, but is now back to normal.
I think it just needs time to sort its self out, like a alcholic the morning after!!.
The only thing i have used diffrently since i rooted was the cache cleaner app in the market.
I can confirm, clearing the market cache seems to fix this.

It's not instant, but I had to do it again yesterday. I cleared cache and installed about 30 apps. By that time the market was back up to speed.
what if you have no cache to clear and the problem still persists
try logging into google talk, that works for me
Hey everyone,
When I go to use facebook via the stock browser, it brings up the old Mobile Facebook UI. This has only started happening recently, after installing ProxyDroid and activating it for the first time over my university's network. When I was simply rooted and had AdAway activated the current Mobile Facebook UI (that's similar to the Facebook app) would be displayed.
Why is this? Nothing's really changed. Is there any fix for this? Googling gets me nothing.
It started for me today too. I'd rather use the mobile site because the app sucks and is a huge battery hog.

I was speaking to a friend of mine, and he has said that despite uninstalling ProxyDroid, it may still be messing with the Nexus' proxy settings. So I'm going to install it again and clear all the settings. If that doesn't fix it, I'm considering going in and removing any trace of ProxyDroid from root (or just in the Android folder over ADB).
If it's an issue with Facebook though, well... That sucks.

I just had to clear the stock browser's cookies and cache a few times. Not sure why didn't fix it the first time. Oh well.

Thanks for that mate ... I was having the same issue on my Galaxy S2, didn't know why it was happening but it just suddenly started doing it. I thought it may have been 'cos I had recently flashed a new rom. So I flashed back to stock but that didn't fix it.
I then came across this thread of yours and did as you did, cleared cache and cookies a few times and it seems to have fixed it
thanks again.

Worked for me. Damn that mobile site is a killer. I actually installed friendcaster because of it ! LOL

It reverted to the old UI for me again after updating to IMM76I. Wiping cache and cookies did nothing, so I went into CWM and wiped my cache and dalvik cache. That fixed it.
So I've been fighting with Touchwiz force closing quite often since the JB update. I flashed the full official ROM from Telus, as well as 2 other Telus based ROMS, all suffered from the same problem. The only thread I found pertaining to a similar issue is HERE.
Issue:
Touchwiz force-closing (stopping), when creating folders, or moving icons on the homescreen (like to delete them or move them to another homescreen).
In a nutshell, myself and 2 friends all have GS3s. 2 of us were having the issue, myself (rooted) and my friend (unrooted, completely stock), where as another friend (rooted) was not having the issue.
After much hair pulling and testing (3 different ROMS, using different computers and cables to flash, having my device flashed by my friend who was not having the issue), I came to the conclusion that Touchwiz was force closing ONLY when the App Drawer was in "Alpahbetical List" view type. When it was in a "grid" view type, there were no issues.
I was wondering if anyone else could do some testing and let me know if I'm on the right track with this.
I ask that you change your App menu to "Alphabetical List", and use it normally for a few hours or days, and let me know if you see any instances of Touchwiz force closing. If I see enough response, I'll start looking into how to place a bug report on this.
Thanks.
Did you wipe/factory reset? You should not be having issues like that if you did.I don't see any of that.

I wiped, factory reset, cleared caches, etc several times, as well as trying 3 different ROMS like I said.
The only way I could fix it was to clear data from Touchwiz Home. But the issue would still come back after a few hours.
So you are on JB, and are using "Alphabetical list" without issues??
Did you back up system and maybe restored the data wipe titanium by accident? If you have a clean install with nothing restored yet does it do this? If not install back all your apps one by one widget by widget to see what is causing this. Could be an app compatible issue. I tried to replicate your issue and could not at all.

Essentially a clean install, nothing installed or restored with titanium, and the issue was there. I think the only apps I had installed were Chrome browser, Go SMS (or Handcent, I tried them both because I thought maybe one of them was causing the issue), and Facebook. Other than that, I was on a stock rom (rooted).
I was just able to re-create the issue by doing the following:
1) Switch app list view type to "Alphabetical list".
2) Go to task manager, do a "Clear memory"
3) Go to homescreen, grab an icon, as if to remove it from home screen, and let it go.
Touchwiz force closes (Unfortunately, TouchWiz Home has stopped). As soon as I set it back to "Alpahbetical grid", everything works as it should.
Note: I do have a folder in the shortcut area on the homescreen (bottom, next to the Apps button), not sure if this makes a difference, but it usually starts when a folder is created...
I was able to recreate this problem on 2 Telus devices, and 1 stock Rogers device, all running JB.
Followed that and I still unable to recreate this. I also have a folder on mine in dock for email with Gmail and email in it. I am at&t though. Even though I am not sure if it matters.

Hmmmm, interesting. I was thinking of perhaps trying an AT&T based ROM (all I've tried were Telus based, and was able to recreate the bug on a friends Rogers device as well...). Maybe it's Canadian devices only? I did notice that it doesn't seem to be a very widespread issue. Although there was a thread about it, there were very few responses...
I'll see about flashing an AT&T ROM, but for the moment, its working properly in grid view, so I'm good with that.
Thanks for the input though!
I'm not able to reproduce this issue on my SGH-I747M (Rogers) running stock (not rooted) Android 4.1.1.
If you factory reset/wipe data on the stock ROM, configure the phone without installing any third-party apps from the Play Store (heck, don't even bother signing in with a Google account initially for this one), then set the app drawer to alphabetical list and attempt to reproduce the issue as per your earlier steps does it still occur? Just curious.

Thanks for trying it out.
I was actually able to reproduce it on my friends stock Rogers 4.1.1 OS.
I was able to reproduce it with a minimal install of third-party apps (mentioned in another post, I think I had Chrome, Go SMS and Facebook installed...).
Perhaps I'll give it a try if I flash a new ROM anytime soon. Right now, my device is working well, and I only figured out it was the List option causing me the problem after installing a bunch of apps and customizing. Don't feel like resetting right now just to try to reproduce it, lol.
Tested on Rogers Stock 4.1.1 root injected, no issues at all here.

So I'm on Cricket which they suck imo but here recently I had issues with my muve music then fixed the SD card with a app from Google play but since I wiped and ruu my phone to stock several times in attempt to fix this I can no longer download anything over 5mb it dies half way done and won't restart anyone have any ideas?
Btw I've tried using uc browser mini and Firefox along with stock browser with no luck.

have you tried connecting to WiFi?
if your answer is yes then open your app manager and uninstall all of the browsers except the stock one then clear data and force stop it then reopen it through your app drawer and try again
I've tried clear cache I've tried removing all browsers and it downloads like half a mb then ends and I can't resume I don't have wifi at home but works at McDonald's just fine.... This didn't happen until my phone got messed up and I had to factory reset not sure what to do I'm on 2g anyways until after midnight Sunday might have to wait till then.

im getting invalid package file errors when trying to download Instagram from the market. ive researched and done all the suggested fixes i.e. clearing play store data google services framework data, cleared bothe the cache and the dalvik cache and im still getting these errors. my wife and i are both having this problem right now, she is running rooted stock and so am i. does anyone have any ideas? ive even don a full wipe and re flashed my rom and nothing has worked.i really dont care that I cant have it but my wife is getting irritated wich means im getting really annoyed. any help would be greatly appreciated.
if there are no more techniques i can use would someone be kind enough to send me the apk? thanks again.
EDIT: all is well found an apk file.
Mods you can delete this post if you need or want to PROBLEM SOLVED.
I'd like to add a little to this. I have experienced this more recently while trying to update my apps. The more commonly known techniques did not work for me as well. Everything from clearing cache in the app and through recovery, to a lesser known trick using the browser and the play store website.
I did find that when all else failed, I toggled my wifi off and used my data to download/update my apps and did not have the invalid package issue. A technique so simple, I had to chuckle because I flashed and re-flashed multiple roms and restores. I was getting so annoyed at the failure of my app download/upgrades. So this makes me think it might have something to do with google servers and my wifi connection, which is strange since it recently randomly started to happen.
Just a little of my thoughts with this ever annoying issue.
For future reference, if u can't find the apk, there's an app called hideman. Its a VPN app. Just install that, connect to the server thats displaying, go to the market and install the app giving u the error. All those other solutions didn't work for me either but with the hideman app it worked beautifully.

I tried that briefly. I personally don't trust it. Switching on my T-Mobile data worked best for me. Thanks for adding another option though.
I have tried all suggestions except using 3g or 4g. My tablet is wifi only, it does not have cell service. I also tried hideman vpn and still get error. I am trying to get lotus map app. Contacted them they only knew to clear catch and data. Any help would be appreciated.
This started happening on all three phones in my house. So im inclined to believe its a problem with the play store itself
