[REQUEST] [i9192] [CM11] Dual sim functionalities - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
thanks to everyone involved in porting cm11 to i9192. It works great and feels like entirely new phone!
There are some areas in terms of dual sim functionality that could be improved however.
I look forward to the possibility to:
* automaticaly reply text / return call with the same SIM that received the text / call (whitout having to choose proper SIM manually, which in fact is not possible in case of missed calls);
* remember SIM to be used to call and text for each contact (just like in moto g).
I'm not a developer so cannot do it myself but offer to test any development if needed. Thanks in advance.

Nobody interested in dual sim goodies?

I just switched to Carbon ROM for the gorgeous lockscreen notification feature but my dreams regarding dual sim goodies still remain valid.

[APP] Prepay Widget TESTERS NEEDED!

Hello everyone! I am the developer of Prepay Widget, a powerful app that allows you to monitor your account balance through USSD requests.
You can find more info about USSD on Wikipedia, but basically these are short, SMS-like messages used by most GSM and some CDMA providers to deliver information
or control account services. The actual information comes to you in the form of popup toasts, which thids app hides and parses into widgets.
You can find the apps landing page on XDA at the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12348102
However, i want to stress that its important that we get some device-specific feedback, so please post in this thread if you have issues,
this helps me keep track of bugs and requests better.
You can use the Lite version of the app - it has all the functionality of the full version apart from automatic updates (not really that important imo).
As I haven't got one of these phones in my pocket, I need some testers to track down problems. Please, use this thread to comment or
suggest features. It is my belief that addressing issues is best done individually by phone, so if something doesn't work, let me know and I will fix it ASAP.
Market link:
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.ussd.widget.lite
Debugging:
Please use the "Write to developer" item in the Settings menu to send logs. Enable debugging, reproduce your error and then send the logs.
Make sure you include a description - the more detailed the description the better.
Screens:
beautiful app idea. how does this work ?
It uses free USSD request. Numbers like *100#...
hmnn.. it seems that it wont be able to update on Optus Australia. As you need to send sms to 9999 for usage details ! do you have anything similar to implemented in this or just the USSD commands ?
This is a great idea, i could have used something like this when i was on pay as you go. Nice work!
Ok the widget appearing is blank ? Is this normal i am using it with a USSD command on another phone with which the network supports.
Which phone? This is just the kind of issue i want to fix!
European SGS2 Stock XWKF3 rooted, blank too. (tested on free version)
Are you sure you got a ussd reply?
Yes I'm sure, I received the reply, made 2 indicators and I'm viewing the differences (green/red) between two calls.
Please send a log using Write to developer in Settings. Don't forget to add a description as the logs can be deceptively empty.
is it internationally?
You just need to know the codes for your operator ...
I have updated the app - please let me know if this fixes your issues!
Fixed all issues for me. Got the full version... great app!
Works great now, thanks, buying the full too.
Great! If you have suggestions, do let me know.
Hi guys. Im back to bother you about stability
Any issues to report before we start working on a new build?
Working great here, thanks.
Any issues? Suggestions?

JJ´s Hybrid 3.3 - Contacs and misc

After lurking for about 3 months on XDA and the Arc forum i finally found the nerve to go beyond just rooting and removing some blotware.
Compared to other hardware, Hifi, PC etc forums I found XDA really difficult as a beginner. There are a lot of guides/tutorials. However they all seem to require a basic understanding of android and the tools surrounding it. Every guide/tutorial I read, always resulted in more questions than answers. I constantly found my knowledge wanting as to fundemental functions of the different tools, drivers etc. Atleast for me, I was long and hard process before I felt comftortable enough to move on.
Anyway I finally found the nerve to unlock my boatloader, install a custom kernel and ROM.
For first time, it went incredible smooth. However I have som questions regarding the JJ hybrid ROM. Since I don´t have +10 posts. I will ask here instead of the developer thread.
- Contacs:
I exported all my contacs to SIM card and imported them again after I was done. However when importing my contacs it seemed to shorten/cut all the names of my contacs.
Is this a problem in this specific ROM or a general issue and what to do about it?
- Trebuchet:
I´m having some problems using some of the features in Trebuchet. I would really like to change the icons and increase the dock size to include more shortcuts. However nothing happens when I press the "Icon" and "Dock" under the Trebuchet menu.
Are those two functions just not working or is it a problem on my end?
Generally I find Trebuchet a little wanting in features compared to GoLauncher I was using before. Is it possible to install another launcher or will it mess up the ROM?
- Camera:
As far as I can tell the are no tweaks in JJ´s ROM to improve the camera/post picture processing and hence increase the image quality. Is there any ROM where this is included?
I think that was it for now. However, I´m sure more questions will follow as I dig deeper in to this ROM.
Thank you in advance.
I don't know about the rest but regarding your contacts, you should have exported them to your memory card instead of the SIM.
Saving numbers to the SIM is really outdated. You'd probably be able to save a maximum of 250 contacts i.e. One contact with a single number. I believe the name field is limited to 8 or 16 characters, so anything longer would be cut short. If you had two numbers for a contact, it would be saved as 2 separate entries.
This is not a limitation of the ROM but of the SIM card. And unfortunately, there's no way of retrieving all your contacts and numbers unless you had them synced with the Google servers.

[DEV] Xoom voice capabilities

I want to open new Thread about getting Informations for working voice capabilities at Xoom !
Here only DEV talk please !!!
EDIT: Found Information for MDM6600 from Qualcomm : http://www.qualcomm.com/media/documents/gobi-product-specs
the pdf file show up different types of modems and the Options: see attachment !!! so actually we could only say that its really actually Modem Version which doesn´t allow Voice Call
First of all i want to share some Informations i think we should know:

I hear what you are saying, thought about that too. Not sure the method to google/motorola madness. If it was that simple, the 2way mic'd headset would work. (tried it and it sadly does not) Keep in mind that our devices are one of the first tabs (old school - but great!) and were not designed to make or receive voice calls (with out help). With that thought ... some pieces of the puzzle may not have been installed. Who knows lol. There is a lot more going on for native support. This has nothing to do with SIP calls, we all know that SIP, Google Voice Skype Video Chat/calls, bluetooth blah blah blah .... work. I'm talking about straight up native outgoing/incoming voice calls via usb voice/data modem. Directly from the device. A couple of us are looking into it. There are so many unanswered questions with this device, makes your head spin.

meaning talk to mic, listen to speaker ...
like all communication app like skype :highfive:, audio/hardware is working... only don't send bit to mdm6600 .
DON'T need to have a mik that work like a speaker (2 way) when we have real (and good) speaker.

Here my last statement i think it could be .. but hope its doesn´t:

I search for some Informations about Motorola , Xoom , Android , Telephony , Sources ... ... and found these Informations directly from Motorola´s DEV Program :
http://developer.motorola.com/docs/tablet-support-for-telephony-and-4g-lte-networks/
However, in the tablet space, data is king! Most Android tablets, such as Motorola XOOM™ (the XOOM 4G LTE and XOOM 3G models), are configured for data only.

Sounds sadly ... i know ... seems to be Motorola remove Telephony Support complete ...
Because tablets are not phones, there are features that have been removed or work differently on tablets. Be aware of the following things that may impact your application.
Do not call the Dialer appYou cannot launch the Dialer from within your application. It is not included on tablets. If you link a phone number to the Dialer, you may want to add in logic to launch another app instead, such as Contacts.

If you plan to target specific carriers by filtering on radio technology, be aware that android.hardware.telephony.cdma and android.hardware.telephony.gsm are not defined features for tablets.
Even though you cannot initiate a phone call or modify the phone state, you can read the settings in android.telephony.TelephonyManager. There is a difference, however, in the data that’s returned from a CDMA/GSM device and WiFi-only device.

hmm.... sounds really really bad .... damn ...
BUT i think we could check if it really doesn´t work !!
First of all we have to get sources of ICS / JB for Xoom and also enabled features inside framework.apk at bools.xml like:
<bool name="config_voice_capable">true</bool>
<bool name="config_sms_capable">true</bool>

for getting Voice Support and SMS Receive / Send Activated !!
I need other DEV for help ... hope someone will help =)

[APP or Widget] - Dual SIM Manager

Good Evening All,
I've looked everywhere for an app/widget where I can toggle SIM 2 on and off from the home-screen, I would like to be able to turn off the SIM easily when I am not at work. Please could someone let me know what would be involved in getting something like this developed? Would there need to be an API released from OnePlus? It would be nice to integrate something like this into one of the custom ROMs available if at all possible?
Thanks,
Having the exact same issue, I think people really love to work 24/7
I saw that there is an app where you can manually select which sim you would like to turn off. What would be great if there is an developer that could create an app with the benefits of Dual sim selector pro AND adding an automatic shutdown for example for SIM 2 from 18:00 - 08:00 hours..
There was an app doing this : Dual SIM Switch Widget but only for Mediatek chipsets.
It was perfect.
I don't understand there is no embedded such feature by default!
Enabling the second Sim card is really painfull today : many taps and acknowledge waiting time !!!
I hope someone will develop soon same kind of widget.
I think it can be done through a macro app with Intents, but I don't understand how to elaborate the suitable intent code. anyone can help?
Thanks.

Dual apps (Whatsapp) on custom ROM

Hello to all P2a42 users,
Just asking if someone had experience with using dual Whatsapp on dual SIM with a custom ROM installed.
I’m currently on stock with native “protected space” feature that allows any app to be duplicated, it allows me to assign each SIM to a Whatsapp (or other app) per profile:
SIM 1 -> personal Whtsapp
SIM 2 -> work Whatsapp
I’m going to switch to LineageOS (or Havoc / CrDroid), did someone already tried duplicating Whatsapp on these ROMs? Which tool did you use exactly (shelter / G Business / Island)? Maybe are there other stable ROMs more fitted to this feature?
Thanks for sharing your experience!
I never used dual whatsapp on my phone (as duplicated) but I think if you can use whatsapp business with whatsapp this should be the best option, although you can use the regular app with some other moded version (I used this way for some time & it was okay). Another option is to use both numbers on whatsapp mods (that's I use actually).
Just note two things: 1- Be careful when choosing a moded version (remember, they are unnoffical versions aka APKs); 2- Pay attention when downloading these APKs because many sites on the web are fake (and most important: none of them are paid, never pay to use a mod, otherwise consider donating to the developer XD ).
Hope it may help you.
